I sure hope I am because I feel sorry for anybody else.

Am I the only one who actually played Zelda: Faces of Evil for the Phillips CD-I? I've heard plenty of people talk about it because they've heard how bad it is (And trust me, you have no idea, it's so much worse than you think), but I've never met anyone else other than the friend who I borrowed the CD-I from that has ever played any game for the CD-I, especially the three Zelda titles. I only actually played Faces of Evil, not Wand of Gamelon or Zelda's Adventure. It seems like out in the world somewhere there'd be another unlucky soul. If there is, I sympathize with you.

The CD-I was an interactive system released in the early 90's by Phillip's, a company which had previously and has since released several kinds of CD players and electronics of the sort. My friend had originally bought his as a Karaoke machine, as it was capable of that as well as playing audio CDs and games.
Later on they released three Legend of Zelda games, Wand of Gamelon, Faces of Evil, and Zelda's Adventure for this system, the only ones in the series to not come out exclusively for a Nintendo brand system. Needless to say, non-Nintendo Zelda didn't work too well.

I still own the cd-i Zelda games... yes, while the scenes may be pretty bad, the gameplay isn't as bad as most would have you think. Then again, most of the people who rant about the CD-i games haven't actually played them, so it's really up in the air. Most Zelda fans have only ever heard of the games, not actually taken the time to find them and give them a go. They weren't exactly hard, but they weren't as easy as many other games out there. Trust me, there are worse games.

Actually, I have played one of them. I'm not the person that rags on them if I haven't played them. The cutscenes, as everyone knows, are very bad. And the gameplay is pretty bad as well. The controls, I found out, weren't the best in the world, and just moving around was difficult with the accuracy. It was pretty hard too, more so than recent games, but not hard in the good way. Hard in the kind of way that really annoys you. Really not something every Zelda fan should be dying to play.

I dunno, personally I didn't care for it. The sidescrolling thing never quite clicked with Zelda to me. I didn't like it in Zelda 2 either. Zelda 2 was a decent game as a whole, but I just think of Zelda as a top-down kind of thing, or nowadays the 3-D works fine, but I never did the sidescrolling thing.

This thread is about who has played them, not about if you haven't played them or when you first heard about them. I have removed all of the irrelevant posts.

Let's get this thread back on topic please.

Thumbs down Wand of gamon

I played wand of gamon ther can not possably be a worse Zelda game then that. The game was a side scroller and you played as Zelda trying to save both link and her father. I never beat the game as the games mere desihgn was overly complicated, repetitive, and uselessly time consuming.

I have seen clips of this game and I as the watcher say it might not look to bad but then again I can not say that unless I play it. Some say this is an unofficial Zelda Game I wonder why, perhaps Nintendo did not own Zelda? In any case I would not say they are horrible.

I have them expect zeldas adventure.
I have to say,
most people havent played these games and usually
yell that these games sucks.
It has many things that other cd-i games didnt have.
Of course they suck if you compare them to othe zelda games.
It is pretty decent for a cd-i game, only those stupid annoying
cutscenes and controls.

Nintendo was going to utilize the disc system thing, so they made a deal with CD-i it's a whole complicated thing, but overall, Nintendo has nothing to do with the CD-i games, phyllips or however you spell it just managed to get their hands on the rights to Mario and Zelda, and proceeded to make very terrible games, it's the fact that they are horrible games, and Nintendo didn't have anything to do with them, is why they aren't considered part of the series, it isn't like the Zelda games made by Capcom, since those games were supervised by Nintendo.
