^ There's actually an interesting theory about the tunic. It's possible that since there's a tunic and no hat, the HoM in TMC's BS could be some sort of knight in new Hyrule.

There would still be plot holes. There is no proof, as of yet, to back this theory. It's just speculation. I welcome all speculation, but I don't see anything in the trailers or other media on ST that hints to this kind of theory.

I think it's safe to assume that the reason the hero is wearing the green tunic in ST is because his ancestor (WW/PH Link) wore this outfit when he saved the world and the reason WW/PH Link wore the tunic is because of OoT Link. Chances are that the tunic in this game will have the same significance as the one in WW/PH but the story behind it's past wearer may be credited to WW/PH Link instead. Regardless, I think it's safe to assume that this tunic is supposed to represent a past hero who wore it, just like the rest of the tunics in the series (except for MC, really).

Also, a note on MC, no one in the game ever mentions the fact that Link is wearing the same tunic as the HoM. We can see that the pictures of the HoM have him wearing similar clothes to that of Link, but this is never confirmed anywhere in the game (that I can recall at least). It's obvious they look alike but, once again, no one in the game seems to notice the resemblence in clothing between Link and the HoM. I wonder if that is significant in any way.

Also, I don't think that Nintendo would ever generalize the tunic like that. By this I mean I don't think the tunic would ever originate from a group of people that wear it. You mentioned that maybe the new trend of the tunic is started by a regular Hylian knight, but that would mean that the rest of the knights probably wore such a tunic and that would be making the tunic less specific. The tunic is a staple to Link so I doubt they will sulk its significance by letting anyone in the series other than a hero who saved the world wear it.

As far as we know, the only people to ever wear the green tunic were heroes. I don't think Nintendo plans on changing that.

Actually it's because it's the knight uniform...

It's not speculation though: it's fact.

^Pinecove is right, all the knights wear the tunic. And Link puts on the tunic so that the knights don't suspect him when he tries to sneak out.

Of course they don't suspect him because all of them wear that same tunic.

Now they all likely do wear the tunic because of TWW Link, but we're not completely sure.

I have trouble believing, however, that the entire HoM story happens before ST from what we know of ST.

I have a question, I may be forgetting something, though.

What if they made such a point to mention that the HoM didn't have a hat; because it was so odd to have a hero that didn't wear a hat?

I know that the above is kinda off-topic... but since we're already talking about the HoM and it's just a small question... might as well do it here and not make another thread.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Are you asking why the HoM didn't have a hat or are you asking why they didn't mention him not having a hat?

^I'm asking if it's possible that they made such a point to mention that the HoM DIDN'T have a hat could have possibly been because having a hatless hero was so strange?
