I went railroad. Here's the train of logic I followed:
-Institute creates intelligent slaves willy-nilly and abducts people. Also spoiler:
-Railroad tries to at least help. I don't think their ending was perfect but it was the least objectionable.
-**** the Brotherhood of Steel. Just ****...
I actually have a request. Does anyone have an unedited clip of Preston saying "Another settlement needs our help"? I can't successfully extract the game files and the RNG won't give me the right phrase from him.
Dealing with insane numbers of Legendary enemies? Getting a few too many useless "unique" items? Then come on down to the Diamond City market and get enough ammunition for a small army virtually free!
Piper. She gives double EXP for discovering areas and passing speech checks plus I find her to be an engaging character (also I get Lover's Embrace so even MORE exp!). I also used Nick for a while, but his companion perk was kind of underwhelming.
You should do that anyway, directly putting Junk into the workbench can bug out, I had a few instances where breaking down a gold watch for gears destroyed the gold.

For the love of all that is holy, get the Idiot Savant perk (especially the second level if you can manage it). It can activate any time, even on completion of quests, tripling or quintupling the experience gained. I ended up getting over 10k EXP and 4 levels from finishing the story because my...
I also love "Sarcastic" being a toss-up between positive and negative. Oh well, at least it gave me the beautiful line of "I have a delivery of two extra large pepperoni pizzas and a calzone for a **** You" so that's nice.
I love using laser rifles as sniper weapons, therefore this is currently my favorite weapon in the game. Just wish the Q-35 Matter Modulator would make an appearance.
Fun fact: Legendary Deathclaws have a tiny chance of spawning at any level. Proof (an encounter at level 9 that I quickly snapped with my phone:
Also I cannot figure out homesteading to save my life.
The green and grey tint of everything made the whole game, especially the city ruins, incredibly difficult to navigate. I get lost enough as is in city maps, but add in an almost monochromatic color scheme, piles of rubble, loading screens, and invisible walls, and I did not have a lot of fun...
