    Default The windfish....

In links awakening, the windfish is supposeldy asleep.
And the villains are " nightmares."
What if the windfish is phsycic ?

As he slept, his mind could have searched for uncouncious minds and immigrated them to his dream, to be returned upon his awakening. However, if his sleeping form was attacked by a virus, that might have caused the nightmares, which stopped him waking up, while in the waking world the virus was manifesting itself inside him, feeding off whatever fed them from his bloodstream. The nightmares might be a dreamlike representation of the virus. The owl who instructed link to kill the nightmares was the windfishes unconcious thoughts. His bodies thoughts. thoughts to defeat the nightmares, the virus.
He, link , fought the nightmares in the place of the windfishes immune system.

Basically this theory is that A battle going on in the dream world was fighting of a virus that was attacking the windfish in the waking world.
So you all think this is plausible?

    and then...
    Gone. "

very interesting theory, could be possible. but i think that the windfish could be classified as a demi god to the 3 golden, so an illness maybe not. maybe more of a reaction to the entry of links conscieousness. the island being all great and happy, but when links lands on the island and his own mind meshes with the windfish, links own fears, his "nightmares" cross over and evolve.

Thats actually sorta what I believe about the game. The Wind Fish is obviously some sort of magical being or deity type character, so I don't think his only power would be to fly. He also shares a dream with Link, and Link himself couldn't become apart of that dream unless some other source pulled him within it. So I do think the Windfish was attacked by the Nightmares who do sort of act like a virus, making it impossible for him to wake as they now have taken over his dream. This is why he senses Link's presence in this "dream world", and pulls him in to rid Koholint of the Nightmares.

Plausible. Maybe, if you are right and the windish os a demi god to the triforce, the only way link was able to enter the dream maybe was because he has the triforce of courage ?

Also, the tihng that pulled him in was possibly windfish phscic powers, reching out to the courageous soul of links, pulling it in to the dream, and , using the owl ( the symbol of the windfishes conciousness ) instructed link what to do.

Not during this time period. The game comes as a direct sequel to A Link to the Past, and in that game Link nor Zelda had their usual pieces of the Triforce. Ganon had possession of the full Triforce, which the game dosen't make clear if he has control of it or not, but he definitely has possession of it since it is within the Pyramid where he has made his base.

It was just Link on the ship that wrecked in the storm. He left Hyrule after the events of ALttP to clear his mind and prepare for Ganon's possible return, as the people of Hyrule were scared that Ganon might return later on. Therefore, Link, being the hero of ALttP, had to leave to think of what he would do.

I suppose there was probably no one else around that possessed the courage to face such a large task. And I use the word courage lightly, as Link does have more courage than anyone else in the Zelda games apparently, but not the Triforce of Courage in this game.

The Wind Fish, like I had previously stated, is obviously some sore of deity-like creature. He most likely sensed that Link was of great heroism and was the only one around, if the only one at all in the middle of the ocean, who could defeat the Nightmares that kept him from waking.

Then I want my eyes checked. I could swear there was someone else.
But for link to be there...the perfect hero....Almost as if he had been called upon by the windfish but not known it. But acted on it, gone to the sea , where the windfish was. What if the windfish called him ?

Nah, it was just Link. Marin is on the beach with him because she finds him there after he is shipwrecked, but it was just Link on the ship.

Yeah that may be a possibility, but we'll probably never know if the Wind Fish actually summoned him without him knowing. Like if his venture out to sea away from Hyrule to clear his mind was actually because the Wind Fish was calling him to help him wake.

I think it was more just of a circumstance kinda thing. Link just happend to get knocked out in that storm, therefore his mind or soul, whatever you want to say there, got put into unconciousness. But its more like its another kinda universe; a "Dream World", if you will. The place where all dreams take place. Once Link was in an unconcious state, he became apart of this "dream world" and thus the Wind Fish was able to pull him inside of the dream.

I believe that the one who is sleeping is Link, and the Wind Fish is a metaphorical representation of him... it is proved in several parts of the game, if you look closely: the last dungeon is called Turtle Rock, Link fights a giant moldorm, the Nightmare takes at least three forms that represent old enemies of Link(Giant Moldorm, Aghanim and Ganon)

I always just figured that was a way of intigrating the fact that Link was also dreaming, therefore there would be parts of the Wind Fish's dream which also mixed with parts of Link's dream. Like if the Nightmares were not only able to torture the Wind Fish, but torture Link as well by morphing into his worst enemies or greatest fears.

I was always under the impression that while everything is merely a dream of Link's, that perhaps the Wind Fish was experiencing the exact same dream. I do not think Link is the Wind Fish though, I feel the Wind Fish is more of part of Link's imagination or a magical creature.

I do not think he possesses any psychic ability, or is Link. It is entirely possible, if not part of Link's imagination, that the Wind Fish is simply a mythical creature or even a deity. I would like to see more of the Wind Fish though, but then again, I'd love to see more 2D Legend of Zelda games.
