I have two theories: The bird's head looks like an arrowhead which could represent the light arrows which destroy evil, or that the bird represents Hyrule and it is flying up to the triforce to represent Hyrule's connection to the godesses.
I think the bird is a Oocca. There is another theory that lead it to be a Ghialoach, but that has no support what so ever.
I have a low evidence theory. It represents power.
Eldin, took the shape of a bird, and the color red is usually associated with the Triforce of Power/Din.
It may be a reference to Hylian soldiers praying for power during battle, but we may never know.
i thought it was about the thunderbird having to be defeated to get the triforceat least on the OoT hylian shield, but that design was altered to stop people going on about 'the 4th piece of the
'
well, I heard an interesting thieroe from my friend - "well, the talons could represent power like strength and what not, the wings could be wisdom as in to bring you up and raise you into knowlage, and the body courage as if to be your foundation and make anything possible!" and this was my reply - "or it could just look cool..."
I know that the bird along with the Triforce is Hyrule's symbol... but I think the bird is a sort of way they show the connection to the Godesses...maybe the Oocca?![]()

It could be a symbol of the Heavens, the sky...
Or, it could just be like how countries have national birds in our world. The Bald Eagle is the symbol for America. (If Ben Franklin had his way, the Turkey would be America's symbol). Who knows why people back then weren't into "national mammals" or "national fish" as represenative symbols? We admire the beauty and majesty of birds. Hylians probably do, too.

Also, the hylian bird changed drasticly in OoT and TP. MM had a different fat bird with tiny legs. As seen in the following link.
I predict we might learn more about it in Skyward Sword. The bird (I've heard it theorized to be a hawk) may be something relating to the sky/flying.
I think the bird looks like something that is helping protect the Triforce since it is right below it. Then, if you look closely, you can kind of make the lines on the left and right of the Triforce to be like arms, as if someone in holding it in protection; so no one will be able to touch it. That's my theory.
Since the "hylian bird" (Royal family crest) is the logo for Skyward Sword, we'll probably have something about its creation in the SS. And since the game is about a guy (Link) from the heavens who comes down to kill all the evil in Hyrule, the Hyrule Royal Family could have created the logo in honor of SS Link. So, in other words I think it represents the heavens because Link came from the heavens to kill all the evil.
Guys, i just thought of a theory that sounds pretty crazy but can be true, what if SS link is the bird because he was raised in skyloft, and its showing him traveling from hyrule to skyloft, and if we put some of our theories together, we might have something.
Since Zelda always talks about legends and stuff it could easily be a bird that once ruled the land of Hyrule in the early times.
