    Default Crooked Cartridge Glitch

Alright, so I was trying this glitch, called the Crooked Cartridge Glitch, I'm sure a few of you have heard of it. It can have multiple effects, such as making Link bodiless for example xD.

So, what I was trying to do with this, is get out of Kokiri Forest WITHOUT any of the items. The glitch is performed as so: While running toward either Mido or the Kokiri at the Kokiri Forest Exit, gently and slowly pull up on the LEFT Side of the Ocarina of Time Cartridge, remember, not too much, or the game will crash. It will most likely take multiple times before being successful. Now, when you do this, note that the graphics and sound will be messed up, but can be fixed by saving and turning it back on. Sometimes you may find yourself in a situation where Mido was "teleported" with you inside of the hallow trunk that's the exit of Kokiri Forest. If that happens, well then just try again, you'll probably get that result a few times.

Now, when you finally do get this right, you'll be outside of Kokiri Forest, Saria will give you the Fairy Ocarina, which is the only item you will have. You can go down to Hyrule Castle and perform all events like normal now, until you NEED a sword that is. When you get to the part where you talk to Zelda, you won't have the Kokiri Emerald, but the game was programmed to think that you do, as you weren't supposed to escape Kokiri Forest like that. Now, you will go through the rest of it, acting as if you have the Kokiri Emerald, which is kind of neat if you ask me.

Once more, this glitch can have multiple effects, it can make Link bodiless, and all sorts of other things because of the cartridge not being all the way inserted. The music and graphics SHOULD mess up when you perform this, so keep that in mind too. The game will most likely crash multiple times before you actually get this correct. It was pretty neat doing that without the items you would usually get.

I persoanlly would not do this. One, it can destroy your cartridge, and two there has been much MUCH newer GS codes discovered that can both make the game glitch or even find 'hidden' actors. For example, there iks a certain GS code now that will enable Links beamblade attack (only works on rom due to it being patched, it was recreated using the same exact beamblade actor found in the games data) and can even edit the interfcaes and Links clothing..so if I wanted I can make it the style of beta OoT with a few GS codes.

Ya, I've heard very bad stories from people that have done this glitch. GameShark is much easier and has no risk of severely damaging your game cartridge.

I've attempted it at LEAST 40 times tonight. It so far has not messed up my Cartridge. Plus, I don't have a Nintendo 64 Gameshark anymore, I used too, but not anymore. A thing about getting out of Kokiri Forest seems more like a Gameshark kind of thing, but well, you don't have to use a Gameshark. I found it pretty funny. It didn't do any permanent damage to my cartridge, or any damage at all for that matter. Now, you COULD damage it, but the chances aren't very high.

I guess I never had the pleasure of doing this, considering I have OOT for the GCN, but I'll take your word for it. Just be careful not to wreck your cartridge.
Where would we be without swords, magic, and beer?

I've also heard lots of stories about this ruiing your cartridge. I tried it one time and all of my save files had been erased, and I had to start all over... I was 3 heart pieces and about 10 Golden Skulltulas away from a perfect game. I'm never gonna try that again.

When it comes to OoT glitches, I've been through it all..especially when the 'triforce hunt' was occuring back in 98/99. When ZC releases, I will probably have a whole section dedicated to glitches.

i did the crooked cartridge glitch after i got OOT on the GC.

it was pretty cool, got out of kokiri forest with no items, not clreared the great deku tree.
one time the screen freezed while link was half inside the ground and the music went on a different pitch and speed. lol it was kinda funny. doing glitches in OOT and MM is pretty funny. but this crooked cartridge one can crash your game or even your own N64.
i had a friend that tried this and his N64 crashed.

so people if you want to test it out, Do it on your own risk.

Alright, so I was doing the Crooked Cartridge Glitch a bit earlier too, I'm starting to really get it down, I got back out of Kokiri Forest, and into Zora's Domain, no bombs. I went right through the boulders with the CC Glitch. I did the same with Goron City, even though that's easily accessible without the CC Glitch.

Everytime that you perform the glitch, however, you start back at Kokiri Forest, your save is still there *hopefully* but you have to start at Kokiri Forest. It is generally easier to pass through Boulders using the CC glitch than people. Sometime else, I am going to experiment with passing through gates, like the one at Gerudo Forrestress, and then through the Time Door, but I doubt I will be able to get past it.

You should somehow get the bombs, and blow up the boulders in the Lost Woods so you can get there without using the Crooked Cartridge Glitch.

As far as I know, its impossible to get past the door of time without hacking the game itself and taking out the actor for it. Ive tried many codes to try and get past it with no luck. Its all in the programming...you need to obtain the stones and play the ocarina to open it. Now what you can do is enable the cheat to have all quest items to get past it without beating the temples or even meeting Zelda.

so the cutscene has to be played before you can grab the mastersword for the first time?
    it sounds logical.

but i'm also going to test it myself, gonna experiment thing with the CC glitch. its not like that i use my nintendo64 again. i will post here if i found out something ineresting.

There's a long video on YouTube about the CC-glitch on Majora's Mask, for interested:

No, no cutscene. You just have to have the spiritual stones and ocarina of time which you can get by doing a simple cheat. You have those, you can open the Door of Time early without beating any dungeons, without meeting Zelda, and even without beating the Deku Tree or even buying the shield an dfinding the kokiri sword (if you use the levitate cheat, you can exit the forest early through the lost woods).
