What did you guys think of this more-obscure stuff?
I like the idea of sprinting, it seems like rolling made less annoying.
I'm not sure about the jumping. We didn't see much of it.

Currently playing:
Fez (What's going on here...?)
Xenoblade Chronicles (I do love me some cockney accents)
Mass Effect (Complete series playthrough with femshep)
OOT3D (Still stuck on the water temple...)
To tell the truth like they explained the controls, I didn't even understood how to move Link, (since I'm mexican and don't really know much English) the things I understood were how to use the shield, the sword, the bow, the beetle, the whip, etc.
But I don't imagine Link doing a wall jump, I mean is he Link or Mario in a cosplay?, it would be interesting though.
He can? i don't quite remember that........
So lock up your daughter....
Lock up your wife...
Lock up your back-door...
AND RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
Wait. Wall jumping? Did I miss something lol?
Human after All

He meant jumping while z-targeting, just like in the other games. While not in combat, the A button is used for dashing (which looks fun). Wall jumping...You may be referring to when he jumps from the log to the ledge? Just like in previous games, just maybe a bit higher.

Um, a lot of that is unclear.
Yes, link can not sprint along with rolling. This showed much faster movement. This could possibly imply no horse or other mode of transportation (which makes me happy as I'm sure you know). Miyamoto mentioned "jumping", but based on the context, it sounds just like the dodging while targeting that we're familiar with. It looked like it might have been expanded, though, like being able to do the dodges all the time, but I'm not sure.
I might even be wrong. We could see a full jumping system. It wasn't clear though, so I wouldn't go starting rumors.
And there definitely was no wall-jumping.![]()

"When you're in battle and targeting, you can use the A button to...uh...to jump. When you're not in battle you can run -- you hold the A button to run around and shake the nunchuck to roll. And then you can also run up cliffs and walls a little bit like this."-Bill
"like this" - Miyamoto dashes to a log in front of a cliff, hops onto the log, then jumps and grabs the edge and climbs up. I'm guessing he means you will need a running start to perform this maneauver?
No wall jumps, and no normal jumps outside of battle other than what we have seen previously.

Well, I honestly got a little confused when they were doing that running/rolling/jumping demonstration. From what I gathered it seems like Link can do some more acrobatic maneuvers than before and actually be able to jump and grab higher ridges if you run at it correctly or something. The dashing was definitely interesting and a welcome change; he always seemed so irritatingly slow before. It's possible there are other maneuvers that we haven't seen yet, it sure would be interesting to have expanded movement abilities. I still doubt they made a full jumping system though.
The idea of sprinting sounds funs but it could seriously become useless if we get Epona later on and teleporting. Also, if the dungeons become cramped then that idea goes flying outside the window when possible since you'd want to be extra careful in a dungeon setting.
I would not like the idea of a jump unless it is well implemented. This game does not seem to be focusing on that though and is instead following more puzzle orientation from what we have seen with the motion controls. Also, what real use would there be if we were to access jumping when we could simply fight on the ground or do a tiny hop and grab onto a ledge?
A wall jump would be just silly. Zelda is not a platformer and the use of wall jumping would mean that we would most likely be seeing heavy use of jumping in the trailers.
The first thing that really caught my attention was the sprinting. I also have a feeling there won't be any transportation because of this, not even Epona, especially since the gameplay seems really focused on sword, shield, and item usage via the motionplus. It looks like this game is more based on "what you can do and how you can do it" rather than "where you can go and how you can get there," which I like.
is it not yet time for tea?
Ya I thought I saw jumping an action now without Z targeting, which I never really wanted, but now that its in this game, I think it might add some pretty sweet stuff!
I gotta go back and check the video to see if there was jumping.... I'm pretty sure there was....
I think Jumping/Wall jumping would be a great feature. There have been like no games where Link jumps when you press a button or something.

Thanks for the clarification, nice to see the exact words. Thank!
Agreed. I doubt full jumping but we could see other maneuvers or action commands of a sort. That could be interesting.
Yeah, I feel the same way. I think you're right, especially with the kind of area we saw so far. I think for a core gameplay demonstration we might have seen indication of a hub-like field if it's going to be in the game, and without the field we won't see Epona.
