Is Nintendo Running Out of Ideas? Or is It Something Else…

Do you guys think that when Nintendo spends more time on graphics, that impacts the time they spend on the plot and quality of the game? Recently, the newer games haven’t been Nintendo’s best work. And with major graphical advancements soon-to-come, is anyone else worried that Zelda Wii won’t be as good as we hope?

I think in 4 years they have had enough time to come up with a good story. Hopefully it is integrated well into the game. As for graphics, the Wii can't do too much as it is now but all games have to be polished off no matter the quality. Taking this time I don't think will impact the story. Will it impact the gameplay, maybe....just maybe but I am not a programmer so I really do not have a clue lol.

I haven't really worried about it, but one thing to consider is the fact that Nintendo is working very hard on the Wii Motion Plus control. So, while we may have amazing and highly refined controls, everything else may suffer because of all of the time and resources put into it. They've also said that they are working very hard on the visuals and graphics of Zelda Wii; making a perfect photo-realistic representation of Hyrule. And they've made it their personal goal to top the visuals of Monster Hunter Tri on Wii, which looks very nice.

I wouldn't worry about it to much though, because more likely then not Nintendo will use the Twilight Princess engine, which is actually the Wind Waker engine, so they won't have much work to do there. That means that they can work more on the story and plot, but it also means that the graphics won't be as good, because they can only do certain upgrades to it.

However, Nintendo has been working on Zelda Wii for five plus years, so either they already have a lot to show game wise (which they said that they do not), or they've been working on a new engine designed specifically with the Wii in mind, or they've been doing a lot of sitting. So we'll have to see what we get at E3. Either way it'll be very interesting to see what it looks like.

Based on the history of the years that Zelda games come out (in a console retrospect), this is around the norm for a new game to come out. This should be impressive, I don't see that they would neglect something as important as a storyline for such a highly acclaimed franchise.

Well to be honest, given the amount of time they have been working on this Zelda for now, I really don't think the story will be an issue.
Also, I don't think it's fair to say that the newer games haven't had as good a storyline as the older ones. To be fair, I think your saying this due to all the hype generated around OoT because of it's success, and now every game after it hasn't done aswell in the eyes of game critics.

Critic's do not truely judge games. The fans do. I mean some of my favourite Zelda games in terms of storylines have been some of the more recent ones.

I never said the plots were bad, I just said they weren't Nintendo's best. But you are right, I must be comparing--which is not a good way to go about saying things.

In that case I apologise, I thought you were trying to make a link between recent games having lower quality plots.
