Incubi and Succubi in Zelda

Now, I am not just posting this because Incubus is in my name..... In TWW, it has been mentioned that in the Ghost Ship, there is a mask. When you look at it from close, it looks human, when you look at it from far, it has the same grin that Chancellor Cole had. A different Ghost Ship returns in PH, were it is run by four little girls who trick Link into thinking that they are victoms, in reality, they are the Cubus Sisters. Cubi are a species of deamons from Ireland that do things.... In, means ontop, Suc, means under.... Now, Incubi have horns, Succubi do not, so the horns are a trait like how Lions have mains and Lionesses do not. The Cubus Sisters, have horns, so maybe they are either really male in a little girl disguises, or Nintendo tried to get rid of the gender specific stuff. In ST, chancellor cole dresse like a leprechon, but had two hats. When the Spirit Tracks are released, Malladus gets out and Cole reveals that uner each hat is a horn. (His right horn/hat is larger than the left.) Again, his grin looks like the grin of the mask on the Ghost Ship from TWW, which has somewhat of a connection to the one on PH, which is run by Succubi. So perhaps Chancellor Cole is an Incubus. This is my theory on Incubi and Succubi in Zelda. Please tell me what you think. For an image of a Incubus, check my gallery. P.S.: An Incubus/Succubus is either really tall, or really short, like Chancelor Cole and the Cubus Sisters.

This is a very interesting topic! Funny, I was just watching Ink, a movie about Incubi...

I have never really noticed the connection between these until you pointed it out... but it's a very good observation! Now that you point these things out, it seems a little too much to be just a coincidence... but then again, they never really mentioned this(the design of C.Cole or the Cubus sisters) in any interview or anything. I would think that if it was intended, they'd have hinted at it or mentioned... or maybe they did and I just never read it.

In any case, I think it's a very neat find! I don't think Nintendo would actually go so far as to imply something as... mature as succubi or incubi in the Zelda series. However, they do get into the more mythological-type creatures (like demons), so maybe they were not intending for C.Cole or the Cubus sisters to be incubi/succubi, but maybe making their designs based off of such things, hence shortening the sisters to plain "Cubus"... maybe because incubus/succubus would've been too obvious...I don't know. *shrug*

Now, I'm a little bit rusty on my Gaelic mythology, but isn't a succubus a female demon that sleeps with you and steals your soul? Or is that an alternate meaning of the word?

An Incubus is a male deamon that sleeps with female humans to steal their eggs.
A Succubus is an Incubus's alternate female form that sleeps with male humans to steal their sperm. They use these to create a offspring of their own species.

Makes sense:

Incubus -as in incubate, as in eggs.
Succubus - as in: <insert your own perverted inuendo here>

Actualy, a Succubus goes through the pregnancy so the Succubus is the Incubator. In means atop, Suc means under, so it does not really have anything to do with the word Incubate, but good word play. ^ -^

The Cubus sisters are just Poes with horns. Or they are a decoration on their hoods. The C. Sisters could also be the WW equivalent of the Poe Sisters. Or a shout out to them.
Chancellor Cole isn't one either. Malladus is the DEMON King. Seeing as Cole is his right hand man, has horns, sharp teeth, can levitate, go invisible, and he has some sort of dark power. I believe he's just a normal, everyday, demon. Plus I don't think something like that would be in Zelda. But I DO think that the name Cubus is just a sort of fun thing that Nintendo put in there to see if someone would get it.

You do realise all the atributes you gave chancellor cole are atributes of an Incubus right? Also, it is not canonicly proven to be the poe sisters, or even poes. Also, I think it is just a shout out like the shout out to the Poe Sisters in TP's Arbiters Grounds.

But like Zeruda and I said, we don't believe that Nintendo would put something like that in a game aimed towards kids. But I DO think it's possible that their names could be a hint at a Succubus. Nothing more.
