View Full Version : Dark Picori?

When playing the Minish Cap, you learn that the Minish love to hide things under crates, bushes, rocks, pots, etc. Using that information, you can come to the conclusion that the Minish were in the Dark World as well. What would the Minish be like in the Dark World? Everything is corrupted, except for Link, when he has the moon pearl. I, for one, cannot imagine the Minish being corrupted. Is there another side to the Minish (or maybe even more of a storyline) that we don't know about? How did the Picori get into the Sacred Realm in the first place?
(Dark world as in the corrupted Sacred Realm, not our forums :))

Do you mean corrupted as in evil, or corrupted as in altered?
Corrupted "evil" is easy to imagine. Consider Vaati's backstory, for one.
But corrupted "altered" would be different.
The dark world is supposed to transform people to reflect what's really in their hearts. Which is why Link turns into a pink bunny, because he's kind, gentle, and somewhat innocent, until the chips are down. In that case, the Minish would probably turn into something cunning and mischievous, but not necessarily malevolent. Maybe a really tiny imp or goblin or something. Or a brownie. And by brownie, I mean mythical forest sprite, not the girl scouts.

I'm not qute sure I'm making the ties to the Minish being in the Dark World. However, I do think there is a lot more to the Minish than we know of and I think we will be seeing them several times in future Zelda titles.
I think if the Minish were corrupted in the Dark World it could lead to some very humerous scenes. (Imagines Link on a moveable platform that is being moved by 1,000 tiny evil Minish.)

I think what he means, and correct me if I'm wrong, is the Minish like to hide things like hearts and rupies under pots and bushes. And in the dark world in Link to the Past, there are hearts and rupies under pots/skulls and bushes, therefore, the Minish likely put them there. If so, and because the dark world turns people and things into different people and things, what, if anything, did it turn the Minish into?

Yes that is exactly what I'm referring to. Supposedly the Minish Cap in a way exaplained why link found so many random items under things in past Zelda titles, and therefore I made the connection of them also being in the Dark World.

I'm not really sure. Perhaps both? Off the top of my head I can't think of anything that is not evil in the Dark World, minus Link and the Maidens (if you consider them to actually be in the Dark World).

The flute playing boy is not evil. The Blacksmith's assistant is at least harmless. The bully and his friend are annoying, but harmless.... to Link, anyway. The wishing well faeries are benign. Random NPCs that Link meets in caves are down-on-their-luck beggars at worst.
I don't think the dark world corrupts anyone's hearts, at least not at first. It just changes their shape.

Good point, I forgot about those characters. The Flute Boy really proves my point wrong.
But aside from that, you'd have to consider the picori as many individuals, not a group. I'd assume they'd be just as humans were in the Dark World, some turn evil, some don't. When I made this thread I was assuming all of the Minish to look the same if they were in the Dark World, but now thinking about it, they would all look different. I guess it just reflects whats in their hearts, as I think you said before.

ok first let me get things on a row here.
as far as i know, dark world is not a corrupted sacred realm, ganondorf had the whole triforce, he actually wished for the dark world. in oot, you could say that the sacred realm became evil because ganondorf had not a pure hearth so triforce split in 3.
and minish in the sacred realm? i don 't think that their realm and sacred realm are the same. the doorway of the minish opens every 100 years. i think the minish got a realm of their own.
but minish in dark world, that would be something. can 't seem to get any ideas how the minish would be in dark world.

This is yet another example of a over analysis of something that Nintendo didn't really consider. Given the release times of the games, I'm sure Nintendo was clueless about the Minish/Picori at the time of alttp.
Nevertheless, the Picori would not be able to stay in their original form when in the Dark World so my guess would be is they would have to become 'dark' or 'evil', just like almost every single thing within the Dark World. I don't think they'd hide anything under pots/bushes anymore before they have changed form. Those are probably left over from the Light World during the creation of the alternate Dark World.
One thing to take into consideration and is also a good reasoning as to why many believe the Minish Cap was an early Zelda title. Every Zelda game after Adventure of Link had these items and treasures hidden under pots and bushes. Thus the Minish had to have been around before any of the previous titles. I'd imagine if the Minish were evil, they'd hide bad things under pots rather than good things.

There is no Dark World in OoT. And the actual Dark World from ALttP is the Golden Land, aka the Sacred Realm.
