E3 is just around the corner, scheduled to take place from July 14th - 17th.
It's no secret that most Nintendo and Zelda fans are expecting to see some new information in regards to the newest Legend of Zelda title for the Nintendo Wii. Based on what you want to believe in, the game is apparently years in development, so perhaps we will get to see even more than what most of us can think of.
How about even another DS title? Heck, Phantom Hourglass was announced in March of 2007, and then released just months later in Japan. Sure it was in development before hand... but I don't see a reason why we can't get a glimpse of another Zelda title for the DS. Phantom Hourglass was such a big success and introduced so many new ideas to the franchise. I think I know Nintendo pretty well... and with the success on PH, they are going to release another DS title that expands greatly on everything that made PH so much fun.
Only time will tell... but it is only just over a week away. I'm fully expecting the next Zelda title for the Wii to be announced... but I'm also hoping for some new information on a new DS Zelda title.
On a side note, because of the Wii's success I wouldn't be surprised if we see a TON of new games coming out. New franchises bringing titled to the Wii and even old franchises making sequels/ports to the Wii. It will definitely be a huge event for Nintendo.

I would really hope the new zelda wii to be like no other zelda game. Also, just saying, if anyone wants to watch E3, it's on G4(a television channel). Maybe Nintendo will release a ds title and a wii title simoultaniuosly. Kinda liek the oracles, because the ds and wii are capable of comunicating w/ each other. That would be sweet. Maybe you could do things like multiplayer against eachother or co-play. However, i'm sure this would take a long time on the production line. They obviously have been working on a new zelda wii, but as for the ds, i'm not sure. However, because of PH sucsess as you said they will eventually.

I am willing to bet alot of money that Nintendo won't be releasing another full fledge Zelda game for the DS Mainly because the DS is already 4 years soon to be 5 years old. Most of the hand held systems nintendo has deveoped before have only had a life span of this long.
Although the DS is still going very strong. I think that Nintendo will release or atleast hint at a new handheld system. Even though the DS is going strong, the ds is falling behind in the technological department. The touch screen was amzing, but it has been used by many new things, (iphone).
And with sony planning on annoucnign a new PSP 2, I think it is inevitable to see or atleast hear about a new hand held.
As for another Wii Zelda title, I think it will be annouced, or at least a trailer shown. But I Think it will be coming out in 2010, or late 2009.
but we will find out in a few short days, so lets keep our fingers crossed!!

I pretty much agree with everything you said.
Although I wouldn't count on all of it.
Most of it does make sense.
It's getting about that time for everything you mentioned.

I highly doubt a new Nintendo handheld console. The DS and Wii are doing wonders in the sales department and it would only hurt Nintendo to even hint at a new handheld console. It would put a lot of gamers who do not have a DS in the situation that Nintendo doesn't want.
"O I want to get a DS but the new Nintendo handheld is coming out in _____". Every console takes a dive in sales once news of a new console coming out.
Nintendo DS's are still selling like crazy and the technology is still new after all these years. Zelda is a prime example. What they did with Phantom Hourglass is very primitive to the DS's potential. They could so easily expand on what they did and make another Zelda title and I'd be shocked if there was not one more Zelda title for the DS.
I think Nintendo might unleash a NEW Nintendo DS. Much like towards the end of the GBA's career. They had three phases. The GBA, the GBA SP, and then the GBA Micro. The DS has had the regular DS, the lite, and I think a third one will be in the works sooner or later.
I even think what Shadow Goris said is a possibility. More games perhaps taking advantage of the wireless connectivity of the Wii/DS.
Overall though I think no new handheld will be announced until next year's E3 at the earliest and perhaps two years. As for another home console, I think it will be at least 4 years until one is announced and 5-6 before it is released.

I don't think there will be any announcement for a new Zelda Title until TGS08 at the soonest.

I fail to see how it's been "confirmed" aveneged...
I agree with masses, but on the other hand the DS has been sitting at its retail price of $120 CND for quite awhile now. yes a new DS will most likley be announced but I wouldn't count a hint at a new one being disccused out of the question.
I've yet to beat PH but from what I have played I can't see how the DS could put anymore out. PH utilizes the DS to the max, and I think has pushed the DS's graphic capabilities very close to as far as they can go.
A new handheld with Multi touch capabilities, microphone, online, 2 larger screens ect would yes perhaps hurt the sales of the DS but thats only if Reggie comes out on stage again and pulls out a Ds and says "heres what you will be playing soon".
Mentioning that a new hadnheld is in the works (which we all know is true) isn't going to hurt their sales.
But here is also a article from IGN that also states some of the points I have said.
(most are on page 2).

here is a snippet from the article, which deals with what we are talking about.
New Nintendo Handheld Announced
Look, the Nintendo DS system launched in 2004. It is now 2008. Four years is about right for
Nintendo to start hinting at some sort of handheld upgrade. The problem is that the Nintendo
DS is still selling crazy numbers so Nintendo's obviously not going to say or do anything to
force that sales curve in a downward direction, so for Reggie to pull out a new DS system out
of his jacket and say "Here's it is, coming out soon" might be a little much.
However, Nintendo has never been shy about letting tidbits slip about future products, and its
press conference is a perfect venue to get the industry excited about the next big thing when
it comes to Nintendo handhelds. The reasons are plenty: Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch are
starting to encroach on Nintendo's territory, and rumors are abound on Sony letting word out
on its next generation PSP project. Plus, the Nintendo DS had a great four and a half year run
on older technology and creativity is being stifled depending on the weaker tech.
Imagine what Nintendo could pull off with internal, rewritable memory in the next handheld. Or
an accelerometer. Or a multi-touch capable screen. There's lots of potential in upgrading the
system capabilities for the next generation, and as long as the company sticks with backwards
compatibility we don't expect to hear much whining from the peanut gallery if an announcement will be made at this year's show.

Nintendo has a lot it has to beat out if it wants to win over more hard-core gamers, so making a new Zelda would be incredibly profitable for them. Though I am annoyed at the Wii for various reasons, if they made a TP-ish game for DS and revealed it at E3 I'd be in heaven.
