I played TP and most of my friends say that magic armor isn't necessary for beating Ganandorf. What's the difference and is there a difference?

The magic armor is not required to beat Ganondorf.
The difference between the magic armor and your regular armor is that the magic armor makes you impervious to attacks, but it drains your rupees at a fast rate. Every time you're hit, you lose more rupees, and you lose rupees even when you're not being attacked. When you're out of rupees, the armor turns gray and it's like wearing the iron boots all the time.

Is it the same thing in WW?

No it is not.

No, in Wind Waker it's more of a magic power than an actual tangible armor. When you activate it, it puts a magic barrier around you and makes you impervious, but instead of costing rupees, it costs magic.

I found the magic armor to be quite useless. I just think that it wastes rupees way to fast for it to actually be anything meaningful. The only time I ever used the magic armor is the in the Cave of Ordeals on like the 47th-49th floors. Where there were a ton of enemies all at once and I had already used most of the bottled items that I had stored.

I would have much preferred if they had a magic meter and the magic armor would use that instead of rupees. Heck, the name of thing is called magic armor. It really makes no logical sense for it to use rupees.

Perhaps one thing that could have been is instead of making it where Link doesn't take any damage, change it to Link only takes half damage. Similar to secret tunics/rings from previous Zelda titles. Then maybe even make the item 'rechargeable'. If Link doesn't wear it will fill up a magic meter. Then once Link uses it, the meter will drain. This would allow Link to just use it when he is in dangerous situations. It would still be quite useless and wouldn't take up as many rupees.

Then again... other than the Cave of Ordeals, there really isn't at part of the game where it would be of much use. At least not to me. Since I though the actual battling of enemies/bosses was quite easy.

Think of it, it makes your rupees magical!

Anyway, i found the magic armour very usefull.

The Magic Armor is worth it for the 100% completion and it's a nice accomplishment, but other than that it's dead weight because it drains rupees like nothing else... But it is not necessary for anything outside of 100% completion.

Just use blue potions and faires instead and you're good to go.

I've never bothered to get the Magic Armor. I might at some point just to see exactly how it works, but I can live without it.
Plus, I find it hard enough finding rupees a lot of the time anyways.... XD

I only got the Magic Armor to say that I got everything. Like getting the Hero's Charm in WW. I don't really care for it, but have it for the heck of it.

I only used the Magic Armor once, and that was to see how it worked. I didn't really care for it though, and don't really need it. With all of the special moves you can do in TP, I rarely get hit by a close range enemy.

Im guilty of switching to Magic armor on the last hit of Ganon since Link looks dang awesome in it >.>

Except in the Cave or Ordeals, where when you fight those three Knights was where I used it, there isn't a real use to it. You know how quick Nintendo took OUT the Magic meter in the first place. For example, its possible to get green chu-chu jelly in the game still.

Not wanting to take it out, it would have probably been much more useful but without a magic meter, its quite useless.

It could have been more useful if it used magic instead of rubies.

I have to concur with most of the people here. The Magic Armour is a huge waste, especially since Link looks so PIMP in it.

Honestly, if they have to go the route of draining rupees, I would have A) only cost rupees per hit, instead of also draining it over time. Lets reward the player for good strategy instead of draining his wallet for no reason. And B) give Link a bigger wallet, dammit. Whats up with WW Link being able to hold 4000 rupees, but this Link only gets 1000? Thats messed up for additional reasons.

as mercedes said, i also think that was supposed to be the original idea.
but if the magic meter is left out they had to come up with a other system i guess.

as for me, i used the magic armor in the cave of ordeals, thats the only time it came in handy.

Mike Pothier, i know how you feel. link looks so awsome in the magic armor, its a waste that you have a brief amount of time to use it. yeah at least they could have give it a bigger wallet.

i find the draining rupee system unlogical. it drains like 3 rupees per second and if you get hit, it also drain a certain amount of rupees. why, its a unlogical system, i'm paying 3 rupees per second for nothing? then at least leave out the whole "rupees go away when taking damage" system.
even if you don 't take damage when equiping the magic armor, 3 rupees per second is much.
lets say you got your 1000 rupees max.
then you got 333 seconds to use it, in other words 5 min and 55 sec.

the WW magic armor was way more handy, you could refill you meter with potions any time.
and what i always did is, combine it when i used the elixer soup to maintain the double power.
