The Legend of Zelda series really didnt develop a timeline until OoT, and even that made everything 400% more confusing. The best thing for Nintendo (and what will be the real new change in the series as Miyamoto hinted at) to do is start the whole series over. If anyone has read TSA's new article will get a more indepth perception on this (http://www.zentendo.com). Restart the whole series and storylines even if it means remaking the classic Zeldas. Plus how awesome would it be to see The Adventure of Link in a 3D envirnment, I know NO ONE will be hating it after that.
Think about it, it was said Twilight Princess was the last Zelda in the current form, as as we prefer...formula. If they remake the past legends or even start brand new, it'd be best for the series. At that point, an actual timeline will be in place and everything will fall together. It's sorta what happened to the Final Fantasy series and I say it was for the best (went from years using turned based rpg system to action based in the latest titles). And for those that didnt know, Final Fantasy WAS Nintendo. Just think if Nintnedo was still in charge and also had the Zelda series....Nintendi would be un stopable. Anyways....
Nintendo has always been known for rehashing ideas and concepts. I believe the next Legend of Zelda Series will be brand new, starting an actual timeline and bringing back the original aspects. Ever since OoT, the series hasnt really kept what originally was, yeah some aspects stayed, but most was gone. MM made up with the original theme music and the beamblade, but all for the wrong reasons. Just think, a new Zelda being just like one of the first three but in 3D and creating the '2nd' era of the franchise.
