View Full Version : Farore's Oracle game

I think many would agree that it was unfair how Farore was essentially left out of the oracle games. Just because it was too complicated to link three games together doesn't mean they should give up on her. Her exclusion from the oracle games has left her as the obscure goddess. It's time she got some attention. Better now than never. Here is a vague outline of an idea I recently hatched. I've not put much thought into it, I admit, but an idea such as this should never go unsaid.

Let's start by establishing why each oracle had their specific powers and attributes.

Din - "With her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land and created the red earth." Din created the earth and has superhuman power and physical capability over it. She is associated with rhythm and the basic properties of nature, thus, the Oracle of Seasons.

Nayru - "Nayru poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world." Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, is revered for establishing the physical and meta-physical laws of Hyrulean existence, as well as having the ability to control and alter the flow of the very laws she created. What with time being a law of the earth, Nayru is quite suitably the Oracle of Ages. Not to mention, she is also worshiped as the Goddess of Time, as referred to in Majora's Mask.

Farore - "Farore... With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law." Farore is the creator of all life that exists within the Hyrulean realm. Because of her role in creating all life, Farore is associated regions that flourish with life, namely forests. Here's where my idea comes in. Considering that Farore created all life forms, it makes sense that she should have the ability to control and alter the characteristics of all beings. Therefore, in lack of a better name, she deserves the title of Oracle of Beings. Let's disregard the fact that she was the "Oracle of Secrets" in OoA/OoS.

Alright, so, Oracle of Beings would presumably be for a handheld console, such as, needless to say, the DS. It would feature preferably classic style Link, after the events of, oh, why not, Majora's Mask? After Link's departure from the land of Termina, he is contacted by the Triforce and promptly teleported to a land in need, supposedly a great distance from Hyrule, with the name consisting of three syllables (Labrynna, Holdrum, both 3-syllable names).
Shortly after he arives in this new land, he witnesses the kidnapping of a green-haired girl named Farore, who was peacefully conducting a small orchestra composed of townsfolk (Din danced, Nayru sang and played a harp, so Farore conducts. If you need further proof of a connection, Farore is associated with wind, and the wind waker is a conducting baton). The kidnapper would obviously be a new face, whose name consisted of two syllables (Ganon, Vaati, Veran, Onox, all two-syllable names). This new enemy, rather than having brute strength (Onox) or cunning deviousness (Veran), would have a mixture of the two qualities. By kidnapping Farore, he attempts to exploit her ability to alter characteristics of life forms to turn himself into an all-powerful being, as well as cast the rest of the world into chaos by disrupting the balance of life form characteristics (The desired gains of both Veran and Onox, I might add).

Outside of dungeons, the game would feature puzzles based on transforming into different beings, very similar to Majora's Mask, only not just a Deku Scrub, Goron, and Zora. You'd be able to capture the characteristics of all life forms and transform into those beings (This includes enemies and a wide range of NPC's) using the primary item of the game, the Mask of Beings (corresponding to the Harp of Ages and Rod of Seasons). Link will have to collect the eight essences of nature to obtain the Maku seed to break the seal on the main villain's lair and free Farore from his grasp. The Maku tree would have no distinguished gender this time, everyone will refer to it as 'it'.

The landscape would be pretty standard. A town or two, a mountain, a lake and/or river, a grassy plain or waste land, maybe a desert. However, it comes to my attention that, because Nayru is associated with aquatic areas, that is why there was an ocean that took up roughly 1/4th of the map of Labrynna. Holodrum, on the other hand, had a wide range of characteristics of its land. This makes sense, considering that Din created the entire earth and all of its features. With Farore being associated with regions flourishing with life such as forests, it would make sense if a forest took up a good deal of the map. Also, bringing back the Kokiri or at least something related to them would be nice.

It's missing a few elements that it would need to compare to the other oracle games, but it's a thought.

Farore couldn't have a game now because the Oracle games are a thing of the past. As good as they still are, you can't even find them anymore, and most people who hadn't played the Zelda series until after this game wouldn't really get what was going on. The only way they could release a Farore game would be to re-release all of the Oracle games.

Besides, Farore got to set inside the Deku Tree, so she wasn't totally gone.

I shouldn't have suggested that a Farore oracle game will/should ever be created. The main purpose of making this topic was to share my perception of what Farore's oracle would be like. If you don't have anything relavent to my insight to say (this includes discouraging reprimands that neglect my idea because I had false hope) then don't post here at all.
