Shipping (yes, I'm Serious)

Link seems to be quite the chick magnet in games. However, he never actually hooks up with any of them. I've heard that this is because Link is supposed to be a projection of the player, so actually making a love interest canon would "ruin" it.

I'm interested in what people's couplings are. For Link, the prime candidates (in order of series appearance) seem to be:

1. Zelda: closest thing to canon--in the Oracle games, Link receives a kiss from her, and something (though what exactly that something is is unclear--it could be anything from a simple kiss to...something more) happened behind that curtain in the Adventure of Link.
2. Marin: she is implied to have some feelings for Link.
3. Saria: Link's childhood friend. Is there something more between them?
4. Impa: Yeah, I got nothin' for this one.
5. Malon: my personal ship. There's some evidence for it too--she's the only non-sage main female in Ocarina of Time, and she's given Link her horse, so if Link ever did settle down, it would probably be with her. It also explains why Link works on a ranch at the beginning of TP.
5. Ruto: Okay, so they were technically engaged. Still, two different species. I don't care what your fetishes are, people, it's never gonna happen.
6. Nabooru: She expresses briefly that she found Link's adult form attractive.
7. Cremia/Romani: Though most would probably just ship Malon.
8. The Oracle Goddesses: Mostly Din, due to her somewhat seductive nature, though occasionally Nayru. Why not Farore, I'm not sure, but it's probably because she has so small a role.
9. Tetra: Somewhat different from Zelda, because she has a completely different personality
10. Medli: Fans just seem to like her for some reason. Not sure if there's any in-game shipping, as I haven't finished WW yet.
11. Ilia: Probably the second closest to canon after Zelda. There's definitely some sort of relationship between her and Link.
12: Midna: she comes across as very flirtatious.

Those are the most common. I ignored all the fairy compainions (Navi, Tatl, Celia), just because I consider them too unlikely.

So, like I said, I'm a firm believer in Link/Malon. Who do you ship?

I feel that it depends more on which Link we're talking about.

If its Link from Twilight Princess, then I say it would be Ilia...
From Ocarina of Time, if its young Link, then with Saria, but as adult Link I think he should go with Malon.

My favorite is still Link and Malon. Link and Malon FTW!!! =D

My personal favorites are Link x Zelda (most games) and Link x Midna (Twilight Princess), but I'm not deadly-serious about shipping. I'll ship others such as Link x Malon or Link x Ilia sometimes... if I feel like it. I enjoy it in small doses, and as far as my fan fiction writing goes, I write shippy stuff when I feel like, but mostly write gen. I'm not the kind to argue "canon" for any of my prefences.

I personally like Link and ilia the most. They also had been through more than him and Malon. It actualy hints that Link and Ilia were together more often because it starts the story as them knowing each other, and Link shows affection for her.

In one case (OOT) Zelda seems to view Link as a tool to save hyrule more then anything else. It is most evident as when after he saves hyrule, she turns him into a kid again and is like thanks for everything now lets pretend this never happened. She could have very easily made a pass at him at this point. Personally i dont even think that particular zelda is attracted to men. Malon def wants link i think even one of the gossip stones says something to the effect of malons dream is to be taken away by a knight or something. Link is not a knight but hes not too far off

*Puts on his Shipping Hat* I am quite serious about shipping. I put my full and utter support in Zelda x Link, in every case and form of media.. Accept maybe Link's Awakening.. Though Marin was actually supposed to be based on Zelda.. So I suppose that's not so bad. I just really think that Link x Zelda is a really practical, and most importantly, the cutest. Also.. Miyamoto supports Zelda x Link. ;)

There are a few things that really make me like this ship. One of the mains ones would have to be Zelda's speech in Link's flashback in Majora's Mask. I just found what she said to be very cute. Talking about how much she enjoyed the time her and Link spent at Hyrule Castle before he left, and how the song (Song of Time) will always remind her of them, and that she can't wait till she returns. It was really just a super cute scene. (It's kind of a fangirlish thing, so don't ask..)

Another thing I really like is quite a recent addition to the arsenal. Which would be their interaction in Spirit Tracks of course. They made such a cute team, and it was apparent that Link and Zelda loved working together. And their little celebrations in the Tower of Spirits were extremely cute. (Again, a fangirlish thing..) The other thing in ST that I like most is the part where Zelda asks Link what he is going to do when this whole fight is over. It's obvious that she wants to stay with Link. She even blushes a little. It's quite cute.

Of course I wouldn't attack someone else's ship. I mean, that's just cruel. Everyone has a right to an opinion.

I support ZeldaxLink most of the time, but with OoT Link, I think he's better off with Malon.

I guess if anything, I'd be all for TP Link with Ilia (considering Zelda doesn't seem to care about him whatsoever) and OoT Link with Zelda, but I find myself rooting for Malon sometimes too.

For me, however, it is tragic and beautiful. I could give evidence for why I belive in it, but I don't want to go on gabbing when everyone has their own prefences. After all, as said, I ship whatever I feel like it when I feel like it ... it's just that Link x Zelda and Link x Midna seem to be my "frequent" ones.

Yes, yes, I know, it's cliche and unoriginal, but I support LinkxZelda in pretty much every game. I don't know why, I just do. I guess I must like the whole hero/princess romance thing. And I can see an attraction there. Like in Ocarina of Time, in the sky scene at the end, or tWW, how they're always looking out for each other.

As for the other shippings, some of them are OK. Midna I can understand, there was definitely something between the two (hey, just because I ship someone else doesn't mean I can't be realistic). Same with Ilia (even if I hate her). Malon and Marin as well. But Impa? Zero chemistry. Seriously, who thought that one up? Nabooru seems waaaaay too old for Link. As for Ruto, she likes him...but I don't think he likes her back. Link is not a freaky fish guy.

I thought Ilia was nice....
Generally speaking I would agree with you, but there are certain instances where that wouldn't be the best option. Like I said, with TP, Zelda obviously doesn't feel anything romantic towards Link. She seemed far too dutiful to me. However when it comes to other games like OoT, WW, all of the early games, etc. I would definitely say Link x Zelda.

yeaaa in the begining of the game she just takes your horse because she doesnt like how you treat it. If link was anyone but link he woulda flipped out, and rightfully so.

Ah, shipping! Well, I don't think about it terribly often and I'm not one to really favor any couples... I suppose if I had to pick, some of the ones I like are...

However, there is one pairing I feel strongly about. LinkxZelda. But I feel strongly against it. :P

I've just really never quite saw them in a romantic relationship, except perhaps in a game or two. Especially in OoT, because I still think they're probably siblings in that. That reason alone is probably the main cause of my dislike of LinkxZelda.

Also, think about it, if LinkxZelda happened for real, then: Link and Zelda hook up, get married, have two kids. These kids are the next Link and Zelda (possibly reincarnations?), who are separated at birth. They get together, have two more kids. Rinse and repeat. Isn't that kind of weird? :P (I'm kidding. :xd: )

I've always liked Link x Malon/Marin/Ilia. It just seems the most likely. Zelda would come after them. Midna, Ruto, or Saria just wouldn't work. Link and Ruto are seemingly different species, so that wouldn't work out too well. Midna is a Twili, and they've changed since going to the Twilight Realm, so that probably work either, and Saria is a Kokiri. She can never grow up, which would make a relationship difficult with a Hylian.

Ok, we're the ones doing some serious shipping here. I looked on another site, and they were talking about LOZ shipping, and they were pairing up people like LinkxKafei, and SariaxMidna! I just about threw up. The sad thing was, they were being dead serious. They mentioned GanondorfxTingle, which I thought was funny, but in light of all the other disgusting things they said, I just couldn't muster a laugh. And when they decided to get down to earth a little, then people started suggesting stupid things like LinkxAgitha. What in the world.
Sorry, just had to report that.

I still stick by what I said before about Link's potential interests. Especially in TP and OOT. I wanted to flirt with Ilia in TP, but then I remembered it's LOZ, not the Sims. :)

I could never see Link with anyone but Zelda (or Tetra in the case of WW and PH because the WW Zelda annoyed me). I could almost see him with Ilia, until the whole amnesia thing really put me off to the idea. I'm rather creeped out by Link x Midna since she's a Twili and cross-species romance just doesn't work too well with me. Malon would've worked if it weren't for the fact that OoT had too many ZeLink hints for me to unbiasly consider anything else.

Can we talk about shippings that don't involve Link? 'Cause if so, I'm just going to put this out there: I support Aryll x Niko. :D
