What Zelda game do you think required a lot of thinking to solve a puzzle?

I would say Phantom Hourglass because you have to find a secret hole on Molida Island and you have to find a secret hole on Isle of the Dead.

i would say AOL because you never know where to go
(Of cours, you can talk to the peoples in the town, but they are really annoying, u must talk to hundreds of them to find the answer).

The Water Temple was pretty simple, actually.

I'd have to say LoZ. No direction given at all, 'cept for the Old Men.

I agree, loz just drops you in the middle of nowhere.

Mind you, "EASTMOST PENINSULA IS THE SECRET" barely helps. Though I do agree that the NES titles gave the least help to gamers. In others, you have a set of phones, a fairy, a boat, a hat or a strange imp to guide you. The NES games give you engrish villagers and cave-dwelling pensioners.

Just noticed, this doesnt belong in Zelda Favorites. But, to respond on this, probably Spectacle Rock in LoZ or the Great Palace in AoL. These were truly the only dungeons in the entire series that were actual mazes. What I mean by that is this...in Spectacle Rock, you can actually get trapped in a few of the rooms and if you go through the wrong door you actually have to start all over at the entrance. You would have to go exact directions to find what you're looking for, and if you by chance ran into Ganon without the Silver Arrows, you're screwed and have to start over. You would literally have to bomb every wall in every room to find the correct path. They also had a few Leave your life or money, sometimes you can bypass this, but usually you're trapped unless you give up one, and if you're broke, then you will have to give up a heart container.

As for the Great Palace, I think thats pretty self explanatory. I play through them now with ease, but for a first timer way back in the day, pretty complicated.

Majora's Mask or LoZ. Don't know what you're talking about with AoL. That game requires very little thinking, mostly fighting skill.

I didn't have to really think hard for the Great Palace...It's just fighting and labrynth crawling. No puzzles or anything like that to make you think hard.

I was talking about the Great palace temple only, and did you not read when I said way back in the day it was hard, meaning when I was about 6 years old or wtvr. And yes it was a puzzle and a maze, there isnt a straight path to the Boss' lair like all Zelda dungeons, you actually have to work your way through an exact path until dropping into ThunderBird's lair. One wrong turn can make you walk down a pointless dead end path or take you back near the entrance.

I agree, but it was insanely tough making it through it without dying because there are so many tough enemies constantly running at you. I always die once before I make it to Tbird.

I probably sound stupid, as I'm the only one that's said it so far, but I'm going with Oracle of Ages.

I don't know if people gave you more specific directions, but the whole Past to Present thing was extremely difficult for me. Remembering where certain parts were in the Past/Present made for a fun and frustrating challenge for me.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinions... but as someone who has played all the Zelda games, and beaten them several times... I have to say that Phantom Hourglass is the easiest Zelda game to date. That includes the more then obvious puzzles. The "secret hole" stuff isn't that hard when you know your looking for it. That is not much of a secret then is it? Heh, i found it in 30 seconds. Some I know take longer... but one or two "hidden holes" is not enough for it to honestly make me rack my brain.

OOT because of that damn water temple

The Water Temple was easy, puzzle wise. What made it hard is the repetitiveness and backtracking. Oh, and because water based dungeons that require swimming tend to suck. It's something no one seems to grasp: Water does not equal fun.

What was the hardest game? Well, that would be AOL by a long shot. Hardest moment in a game? I assume these means the very first time. Well, in AOL, the very first time you fight a darknut makes you want to take your cartridge and throw it out the window. I suppose that doesn't count as a puzzle.

So, if I HAVE to go with puzzle... meh. Now that I think of it, not many of the puzzles even presented a challenge mentally. Link's Awakening had some fun dungeons. I suppose I can go with master sword retrieval puzzle in TP. It's just the only Zelda puzzle I can remember having to think and try to plan many moves ahead. I don't want to say it was hard... but it did require me to think. If a puzzle is obvious to me, like the Water temple in OOT, then it wasn't difficult was it? meh.

For hardest game, I have to say AoL. I still haven't beaten the 7th Palace yet (mainly 'cause I suck).
Hardest game puzzle wise, is probably MM. There's not a whole lot in the way of puzzles in the other Zelda games that I've played, and some things in the game make me want to burn it at times, so I have to go with this one.

Yeah G I agree MM was pretty nuts, that postman puzzle where you have to press the B button in exactly 10 seconds drove me crazy.

For me it would have to be LoZ. Like most others said, there's really no direction in which to go, and in some dungeons i had to think of which door to use the key on, because as I soon learned, you could run out of keys.

Um, lets see. Hardest one...I would have to say MM. It seems easy, but with all the time doing, how it goes back and forth, you really have to plan things out and be quick, or else time'll run out and you gotta start over.

Yea, I agree with this. I don't agree with LoZ requiring a lot of thinking. The thought that was going through my head most of the time was "where do I go?". Its not as if there were a bunch of hard puzzles in it. Not to dis the game, but it was mostly bombing and pushing blocks.

For me it was Twilight Princess. I did more wondering around in that game than any other Zelda. I think my play time was like 40 hours when I beat it the first time, and about 3 or 4 of those were wandering around. A Link to the Past was difficult as well the first time I played through it. There are still some parts that I get confused about when someone asks for help on it.

As for Adventure of Link, I don't ever remember finding tht game difficult as far as getting to where I needed to be. It was just getting past that part to move on that was tuff.

I think the hardest was AoL. It was also one of my favorites in the series.
I guess the question was which required the most thinking...I dunno. I guess I would pick AoL for that one too. I think most of the games were pretty easy as far as solving puzzles, but AoL did stump me a few times. I think I was 12 or so when I started playing it.

Definitely the Oracle games, both of them. The dungeons really required you to think, and its a good thing I can keep my bearings in my head.

I actually found the dungeons in oracle of seasons to be rather easy but the oracle of ages had some quite hard ones! Looking at the whole games I think Alttp and OoT were the most complicated ones and requiered both thinking as well as lots of trial and error >.>

LoZ didnt require much thinking.... Its just guess and check.
This is about hardest game so AoL isnt your answer.
I have to say OoT was easy puzzle wise, and so were the others i have played....
Havent played the harder ones :/

Water Temple ( oot ) wasn't hard whatsoever, I just got annoyed with the whole pausing all the damn time. >.>

I dunno bout you guys but I found that bit in Tp....where those two statues jump up and you gotta put them back in there own position? Jeez, that was IMPOSSIBLE!! I Google search'd for the answer after I had wittled away near to 3 years of my life trying to finish it, lol. Cos that one kept going up while that one went down....then that one got stuck....RAH!

A Link to the Past. It had the hardest puzzles and maps to navigate, in my opinion.

Hmm... this is definitely a hard choice. AOL wasn't necessarily puzzle-ish, but it was very hard. I would either say OoT or Majora's Mask - they were both confusing games without a guide.

Though I'd say LOZ - 2nd quest more than anything, if you'd want to count that.

Like a few people have already pointed out, I don't think the NES titles required a whole lot of "thinking" on the whole. It was mostly trial and error, but having said that, if you count looking at the map in dungeon 7 of LoZ and trying to use it to reach the boss as a puzzle, than yeah, that was really hard.

Other than that it's hard to judge because after you've played enough Zelda games, you get a feel for what to look for, and often if you get stuck, it's not because the puzzle is that hard. It's because you're over looking something obvious like an obvious crack in the wall that should be bombed or a door you somehow didn't walk through for an hour.

umm it would probably be PH for me.I got stuck a lot in that game, cause it has so many messed and baffling puzzles. It definitely required the most thinking for me.Then again it was also very easy at some points.

Starting from when I played when I was younger I would originally say OoT, because of the Water Temple. But now I am playing through the Series once again and I found the Water temple quit simple. In fact, the game showing most challenging for me at least seems to be Majoras Mask, with the time managment and all. The other games were fairly simple

For me...

OOT - Water Temple was hard. I missed a key when I was younger.

MM- Stone Tower Temple looking for things >.<

TP - Damn you Snowpeak and your ice block puzzle! ....And you City in the Sky!

PH- I hate that puzzle where you had the close the screen. Also hated Mutoh's Temple cause I got lost in there several times.

OOT- I was new to the series back then, and I don't think as well as the average person. It took me several weeks to get past the first dungeon and Dodongo's Cavern took me three months.

I had to use a guide to beat it, which is also what I have to do with every Zelda game. I'm not good at finding the right answer on my own.

I agreed with starlink but not that part. I think is getting through those one temples that I don't remmber what there called.but for me the legend of zelda game that required the most thinking is Majora's Mask because you have to do ALOT of things in just three days. So i don't like playing it very offen. And like a couple minutes later eveything(what I mean is the T.V. and the game system goes off).but I play it sometimes and do stuff fast and if I do somthing hard I save fast.

I think the most challenging game for me was A link to the past. The dungeouns were pretty challenging for me to find the big key, the chest then the boss room. Some of the rooms are extrememly hard to figure out, or even get to. Also The whole dark world, light world thing was so hard. The thing that made me the maddest was the guy who only let true heros past him near the pyramid, and the guy that sold the shiny bee, i cant remember if i ever figured that out yet.

I haven't played much of LoZ, but I needed a walkthrough to get as far as I did. So what I did play was really hard. The hardest game I've beaten was OoA. It had lots of puzzles that took me forever to figure out, and the bosses were actually challenging unlike some of the other games.

The one that required the most thinking would probably be Adventure of Link. Mainly I had to think about attacking enemies, how they were going to attack me and such.
