Pink Haired Link?

I'm sure anybody who ever played A Link to the Past might have noticed this before... but what's with his pink hair? I've read somewhere that some people think it is part of his cap, but to me, it clearly isn't.

What was wrong with the brown haired Link from the first two games. Then he switched over to being pink haired and eventually... blond haired for modern games.

What I don't get is that in the official artwork available for Link, he clearly has brown hair...

Yet in game... there is apparently some sort of pinkish color

In ALttP it was a bit weird tho...Link's red tunic has a purple undergarmeth, and the blue tunic has a gold undergarmeth. But huh, i dont think it was pink really, Im sure they were gearing towards more of a redish color.

I'd always been aware of that pink area, but I suppose I always assumed it was part of his hat. Odds are they probably didn't make it brown or blonde so it wouldn't blend in with his head.

No. GBC games are more 8-bit than anything. Probably not enough memory for it.

Yeah, that's what I am thinking right now. If it was brown or blonde, you couldn't really tell what was his hair or what was his hat.

I'm sure they could. It's just a simple number change. Not that big of a deal or really hard.

His hair is definitely pink in LttP. Right before entering the desert palace, he removes his cap, revealing a head of pink hair. Of all the various hair colors Link has ever had, his pink hair in LttP is my favorite. It just works.
And yes, anyone dissing LttP shall be smited.

From the game's set angle and distance, Link's subtle pink hair doesn't really bother me. However, seeing it close up and thinking on it for an extended period of time evokes a vague notion of phailure...

I think his hair in the story is supposed to be red, but it didn't quite work out that way. Probably a bad day at the Hylian salon.

I think it has to do with the fact that his hair color would interfere with his skin color. Much like how on Final Fantasy VI Terra's sprite has green hair but in all the art and stuff she has blonde hair.

I bet they going for more of a red kind of color. but it turned out pink in the game. And I always liked link as a blond. But that is just me. But if the pink isn't what I said it was I would think it was his hair becase you don't his hair blond,brown or any other color.

There can also be a reason why his hair is pink is because of the amount of color you need to save.... I read something that X-bits hold X amount of bytes for color where X is something like 8, 16, 32...
