Yes yes, as always we have the Master Sword, which didn't surprise most of us...

But, then we have Ganon's sword. I don't know if any of you guys noticed this or not, but it's the same sword that the sages used in trying to kill him. Also, he says something in the end about bringing darkness on the land with it, and tells you that the Master Sword is "An impressive looking blade, but nothing more"... Or something along those lines.

It's very odd. If you notice, Link's sword is glowing red, but then again so is Ganon's. Maybe the swords react to the aura of the person(s) around them. If that were the case, wouldn't it be reasonable that both swords glow red? One is the Master Sword, the legendary blade of evil's bane. And the other belonged to the sages, which would make it a holy blade would it not?

Well, the Master Sword was reforged in TP to create the Light Sword. My guess is it interacted with Ganondorf is some form, esp. since he did have the power of the Twilight and the Light Sword was used against the Twilight.

Yeah, the Master Sword had to be "upgraded" in order to go against Ganon's new powers..
And maybe Ganon's Sword is something like another version of the Master Sword that the Sages use? We'll have to wait and see if that sword is in any more games..

Yea...this is something that gets me tho...

In FSA it says Ganondorf needed the Trident to transform into his beast form (the trident is the pitchfork type weapon he uses when he is in beast form). Ok, and well all know he has that weapon when he is known as 'Ganon'. In OoT, the power of the Triforce enabled him to turn into beast form, not the Trident...although it seemed he already had the Trident. Anyways, onto my point, Ganondorf always uses a differnt sword in each game, but only uses the Trident when he is in beast form as Ganon.

But yea, the sword Ganondorf had in TP gave me the hint that it was a blade of Heros bane. (which would be weird since my fan game was gonna be called that when I satrted working on it a few years back)

yeah i also noticed that.
my tought were that the ganons sword and master sword were made from the same material.
they had the same shine on their blades. would make sense because you cannot execute ganon with just a normal sword.

Actually, I think it's more because of the sunset/sunrise. I'll test it out later and see if the game can gofrom day/night and if the blades change color.

Ofcourse it goes from night to day in TP, it just takes a bit longer than say...OoT or TWW. But yea it being the sunrise kinda makes sense since I have seen the Master Sword being quite reflective throughout the game, mainly after it was reforged to become the Light Sword.

I thought the Light Sword was rather weak. Weak in the sense, I don't think it is necessary. There were a few puzzles where you had to do a spin attack to get rid of some of the black fog, but that's really it...

I think it would have been better if they made the Light Sword just an optional item, perhaps as a reward if you beet the Cave of Ordeals. Not so much that it has power to defeat black fog, but just slightly more powerful than the Master Sword. Sorta how the Golden Sword was to the Tempered Sword in A Link to the Past, or how the Big Goron Sword was to the Master Sword in Ocarina of Time. That would have been something more worthy.

I just thought as the dungeon item for the Palace of Twilight, the Light Sword was pathetic. I'd much rather get a new item of sorts. Then again it was at the end of the game and most new items at this late stage in Zelda titles have minimal effect.

Well Mases...the Light Sword is necessary to fight against the twilight...And Ganondorf being the true King of the Twilight actually makes the sword have a stronger effect against him than the regular Master Sword. Dont see how you can say a sword upgrade is pointless...(no it didnt lose its power when you left the twilight realm)

I thought it did since it didn't glow in the Light Realm. No it's not glowing during the final battle with the same light; it's reflecting the sunset. Look at it during the sunset somewhere else, like south Hyrule Field or on Snowpeak.

The Light Sword was only necessary to blow away the twilight that made Link turn into his wolf form... You know that gas/dust thing after you beat the Zant holo?

The only item that lost its power was the Dominion Rod. The sword didnt glow as much in the normal realm since it wasn't dark as all hell. Go to your item screen and tell me what it says....Light Sword.

I haven't tested, but the Light Sword doesn't seem to do any more damage to non-twilight creatures then the Master Sword. Oh yes, and it says "The Master Sword infused with light" or something like that, not "Light Sword".

I didn't really notice if the Light Sword did any more damage than the Master Sword. Perhaps because the master sword kills almost all enemies in either 1 or 2 sword slashes. Since they die so fast without the upgrade, it would be hard to notice the extra damage that the sword does with the upgrade.

Honestly though, I thought the Light Sword was weak. However, historically in Zelda titles, the item you get in the last temple is usually much weaker and more useless than previous items. Probably since you barely use it. Of course this isn't the case in all the Zelda games, but it seems like a basic generalization.

I would have much appreciated a new sword if they wanted to do an upgrade. Perhaps if the light sword was able to destroy shadow creatures but also had a beam attack or something. However, if you leave the twilight world, the sword becomes slightly weaker than the master sword, but keeps the extra beam attack. Then it could give the player options on what to use, sorta how the gems in Phantom Hourglass gave the player options.

This topic is pretty interesting.
I never thought about the swords like that at all. It's not something that I payed attention to, but maybe next I play through, I'll try and remember.
I also didn't notice that the Master Sowrd was upgraded into this Light Sword. I just figured that it was being 'recharged' (Kind of like in WW) or something of that nature. If it actually says it was upgraded in-game, I obviously didn't read that part (which I tend to do a lot in games). Again, something I'll heave to pay attention to next time 'round. =P

I kinda wish that they had a nice 2 handed sword in TP, unfortunately they didn't include one.

The Twilight sword Ganon has was interesting to me because it was incapable of killing him, or really even hurting him. It left a scar and then just popped back out, so what this tells me is that we will never really know what Ganon truely is capable of.

You are 100% percent right. The sunset reflects off the sword and creates that glow type appearence.

Two handed sword would have been alright. But the Master Sword was over-powered as it was. I always switched to Ordon Sword to have a fun in fights :p

I always noticed that the Master Sword kinda 'glowed' white-ish-blue in the dark. It rocked! But I had always thought it was 'cos the Master Sword kicked so much ***.....
