I wish this were true...
What do you think about Nintendo re-releasing Ocarina of Time for the DS(similar to what they sis with Super Mario 64 DS). I think it would sell well. I really think Nintendo needs this (or an awesome game for the DS) because the PSP is starting to gain ground in Japan with its games like FF7: Crisis Core, and theres not any good DS games coming anytime soon (or at least that we know of).
Your thoughts?

Well, the first thought on my mind is this...
Whoever tried to fool people, did a terrible job. The artwork and everything is awful. "Link will have to go through all kinds of dungeons and different worlds..." Nintendo would never write something that sounded that stupid...
Honestly, I think it would be a great idea for Nintendo. Will they ever do it? I doubt it. It would require too much effort on their part.

Well, they'd really have to pump up the added features to make me buy it. I already have three versions (Original N64, Master Quest, and Zelda compilation for GC).
I'd prefer a whole new Zelda adventure.

Well, im new, and yes, i think they should make a remake. It would be awesome to play as Sheik!

Don't we have enough Ocarina of Time games? Another remake on the DS is a bit unnecessary. Nintendo could better come up with some new zelda games.

Granted, but I personally think it would be awesome. The good old classic OOT on the go, and perhaps with a few new features especially for the DS. I'd definitely get it.

What are you talking about...? I kinda doubt if it were to be remade you get to choose who you play as. Play Super Smash Brothers Brawl if you'd like to play as Sheik.
On a side note here, one of the arpils fools jokes that actually is true in a way is downloadable content for the Wii. Now the joke promised extra content for TP and such, which was the joke...but it is very probable that this will in fact happen. Extra content for TP I dont really care for, but extra content for OoT would be awesome...it could even be the Ura Zelda that we all never got to play.

OoT for DS would be cool, but super-cool would be OoT and Majora's mask together for DS.

Dude, you know what you're talkin about! Make it a combo pack so that you get both on the same cartridge or maybe 2 cartridges!

I actually think that OoT of the DS would be great. To be able to play a classic such as this on the go would be great for the DS.
Personally, I don't see the point.
There's already like 4 or 5 versions of it out there now. I don't really see the point of a new one.

I think that is a very good idea having a classic on the go.
There are a few errors on the back box art but if it was real, I would get it since I'm a Zelda fan.

To clarify, Nintendo has four versions of OoT: Original N64, GC Master Quest, GC Collector's Edition, and Wii virtual console.
I personally think making a DS version of OoT would be a terrible idea. It would completely destroy the sentiment created by a full screen and full sound. You'd never get that shiver down your spine every now and then when you're in the Shadow Temple. Hyrule Field wouldn't be vast and open, instead it would seem compressed and miniature. The game simply would not be complete. To me, a portable version of OoT just seems wrong.

I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about Fierce_Deity. It would still seem just as large and open as it did before. Simply putting it on a handheld console wouldn't change that.

I think they should rerelease if for the wii and give it a graphical upgrade and make it look crisp and real like TP. That would be awesome and probably hieghten it's already high status.
Personally, I don't see the point.

Yeah but the GC is dead in the water at this point and I and probably lots of people don't own a wii cuz they're so hard to come by right now and I even work at an establishment that sells them and I can't hold one long enough to buy it. I love my DS though and I think if they rereleased it for that it would sell immensely well cuz of it's rarity right now. (unless you own a wii)

I would like to see Ocarina on the DS, or Majora's Mask, or both...But I'm like some others on here that think they should make a new one. Or at least make a new one in 3D in the form of Ocarina. Phantom Hourglass was kool, but after I beat it to death, there was really nothing to do. It's one of the only Zelda games I've ever sold back to Gamestop.
Blowing into the mic to play ocarina notes would be kinda kool though.

I do not see why they dont put this on here. The put mario 64 out. It would be a huge money maker onley the controll system would not go very well with it at all.

I doubt they could fit both games onto one cartiridge.
Why they don't just make a port I have no idea.
I mean it wouldn't cost them that much to do it and I know 1000's of people would buy it.

Maybe nintendo can take advantage of the wii and ds being able to communicate with eachother and make MM and OOT downloadable for the DS. It could be an option on the DS menu. And as for the cartridge not having enough room maybe they could make a memory card in the shape of a gameboy advance (sp) cartridge. They did that with the DS browser.

I don't think so because it will be a total difference with the nintendo 64 kind. Link wnt look the same and some things might be changed and hard for us 2 get use 2

I'd like to see a good Zelda game because I feel Phantom Hourglass didn't deliver. One that uses the more... "dark" animation from Twilight Princess and follows that kind of storyline.
I think that would be a great game.

On second thought, if nintendo did make this, it should be along side with a new zelda game. Because imagine it, e3 09: OOT and MM DS! And that's all. It would suck.

I think a DS version of Ocarina wouldbe awsome. It'd be simple as heck for them to do as well. I pretty sure by all the 64 games being made for the DS that the DS has an on-board N64 EMU(lator). All's Nintendo would have to do is write 64toDS controller conversions. I've already mapped out OoT controls for the DS. If I can find them, I'll post them.

OoT DS would rock. But I don't see it coming true anytime soon, cause Nintendo sure as hell isn't going to make it, no matter how many petitions you send to them. They're busy enough making all those games that they said were coming up at E3. They don't have the time.

RPR (read previous reply)
The DS already has an on-board N64 EMU(lator), only thing left for nintendo to do is write up some conversions for the controls, adapt the TS(touchscreen)for use as the weapons menu and slap it all on to a DS cart.
It would take Nintendo a week MAX to get it all done.
After that it's all just reproducing the carts themselves.

I'm not sure about that, I think they could use and re-use a lot of the 3d and sound, but they'd have to still program it and that takes time. If it was that simple they probably would have done it and produced more titles by now than Mario 64 and Diddy Kong.

I'm pretty sure it's there. unless you have any other reasons for all the 64 style graphics and games.

As far as quoting goes, if you can pull out a book on posting guidelines that says it's a no-no to quote a post, then I'll continue to do so. Quoting the post indicates that I am initiating dialouge with you, as such you should honor that and see it as me wanting to hear more from you.
With that being said, if it was as simple as copy-paste, edit controls, next game, I think they would have done a lot more of the N64 classics by now. The graphics technology inside is said to be N64 quality, but that's all I've heard.

Here is something to think about. I would like Ocarina of Time for the DS, but I'm not sure the control scheme for the 64 would work on the DS. I wouldn't have it end up like Phantom Hourglass where you can only equip one weapon. You need to be able to move, attack (I like the stylus, but not for Ocarina of Time), and I have always wanted to see a multiplayer OoT. Not capture the force pieces, but PvP and co-op.
Well if they DID do that, then that would make my N64 portable obsolete.
:(
They would have to put something NEW in it to make it better. Like Master Quest. Only different.
(I'd still buy it anyways though.)
Oh, and all that stuff on the back is absurd.
Using the stylus to swing a sword seems like it'd be difficult. No, I can't imagine the stylus being useful for anything other than selecting items from the menu, and I wouldn't even wanna do that because I'd have to pull out the stylus everytime I wanted something.
I'd probably just use my fingers, assuming they put the menu on the bottom screen right there where I can just touch an item and have it immediatley.
Sheik side quest missions? Whuuuut?
We don't need another rerelease of Zelda 1. If I wanted to play that on the go, i'd take out the GBA rerelease and stick it in teh bottom slot.

Yeah, I agree with you Leix. Some of the stuff on the back is absurd, but it's obvious that Nintendo wouldn't put a Sheik sidequest in. Also, touch controls would be a pain for a 3d game, so I think they should just do a button control scheme if they ever make this. An OoT remake for the DS would be awesome if they did it right, but they could really mess it up. Hey, an idea for an option on how to control the Ocarina! You could just whistle into the mike to change the pitch! Not everyone could do that of course, so they'd have to have a button option too.

Yes it would look at Mario 64 ds

Ahahaha! Picture yourself standing in public looking like a fool trying to whistle into your DS. I think it'd be easier to use the stylus. Draw up, draw down, draw left. Considering I can't whistle.
I would like to see this happen. There's two points here.
1. They re released Super Mario 64 on the DS and that did pretty good.
2. I think that most will hate it due to the OoT Fanboy status, and along with most people in this thread, they would hate it no matter if it was better than the original N64.
I would still like to see it happen though. I highly doubt it will though.

I don't think they should make a remake of Ocarina of Time on the DS. I mean, think of it. Two screens, what is the other screen, how would they would out the touch screen, because they always use it in some manner. It would just ruin the feel of Ocarina of Time that I've come to love and enjoy.

The other screen could have many great possibilities to it that would make the game better and not worse in any way I wouldn't think. The bottom screen could have the world map, quest/item menus to scroll through instead of having to pause the game to switch back and forth between items....Maybe even an ocarina shows up on the bottom screen, you would use the stylus to hold down which note you wanted to play then blow in the mic to make it sound...
It wouldn't ruin the feel, it would just be on a smaller scale. Zelda is zelda...Just like when they brough out Resident Evil on the DS....The game wasn't on a big TV, but it still was the game and what they did add to it only made it better imo.

They could, and maybe a few more games. See, the D.S. Cartridge has the capacity of 250MB, and the games (individually) are 32MB each. Including the emulator (or a port, what ever Nintendo would want to do), it wouldn't fill the cartridge. You could maybe fit the the first four in there, too.
