Yep, the most basic of all threads.
I believe the title speaks for itself. Out of all the Zelda games released so far, which has been your favorite? Personally, I've always enjoyed the 3D titles more, please don't kill me for that. I find myself having to pick between OoT and TP. I'll post why later once I get some other opinions.

That's a really hard decision to make, but I think right now my personal favourite is ALttP. It's the game that really gave the series a big boost in the direction it would head in the future. When you look at all of the titles that followed it, ALttP was fairly evident in influencing them whether it be in style or control or plot.
It was also a real eye-opener in terms of what video game potential was. The NES set the basic standard, but the SNES kicked it up a major notch in my opinion, and ALttP was the game that helped me realize that.
Great graphics, great music, great story, great gameplay, it's got it all! OoT is close in there as well, but it's similar plot idea to ALttP pushes it a bit behind in my opinion.

My favorite is Ocarina of Time... as is the favorite of a lot of other people. At least I think this forum is a bit more mixed in their opinions, and that's good. :)
I think that Ocarina of Time was an all great game, not to mention being one of my first video games I ever played, though I'm trying not to let that pull me in. It was a great game to get me started, I'll say. I just loved the story and everything about the game. The Gerudo, puzzles, it all just had this certain feel to me, and I could wander around doing all kinds of stuff. One of my favorite parts was going through the Gerudo Fortress. The game just easily pulled me in and made me play it many times over again. One of my favorite games of all time.

My favorite Zelda game would be ALttP. :D It was the first Zelda game that I actually got into to and the second Zelda that I played. It also was the first Zelda game that I beat. (Although I used walkthroughs on the last 3 dungeons. :embarrassed: )
...Anyways, yeah, ALttP is my favorite Zelda game. Personally I see it as the best Zelda game EVA!!! (At least so far...) :)

Ocarina of Time is my favorite game. I started playing Zelda with the very first, and I took a liking to it, but it was Ocarina of Time that made me a die hard fan for the series. It's the most appealing and has one of the best storylines of any game I have ever played. It's also more of a challenge than quite a few of the later ones, and it's mostly that reason I don't choose Twilight Princess over it.
It's not my favorite, but I'm sad you didn't include Four Swords Adventures up there. :(

This is a tough one, Although I only played 5 games they are all awesome....except PH....It was good but not awesome...
The Legend of Zelda: This game is the hardest of the Zelda's I have played, I couldn't complete it without the site guide so I deleted my file and started again.
I always die on this game, It is one of the hardest games I have ever played. I always get killed at the start and keep dieing until I get the Blue Ring (Is it that one?), Even Octoroks are hurting me sometimes.
Also it was so hard findng a Temple and when you did...IT WAS THE WRONG ONE :cry:....It was fun though, I think it is one of the best 2D games ever made. It was fun to play and hard, I never got past the 4th Temple by myself.
Ocarina of Time: Ocarina of Time is an awesome game, There is no other way to explain it....simply awesome, I loved this game, Other than the pokemon this was the first game I ever played, I would sit there for hours just playing it, Even worse was I can't remember doing yet I actually go to Goron Village before I couldn't get any further.
This game also has the best form of Ganon I have fought and it has my favourite boss, Volvagia. It was contained the Temple of much anger, frustration and pure hatred for many players....The Water Temple.
This game is just pure awesomeness, It was the first of its kinda and it was pure excellence. I still own a N64 and a copy of it now, I shall always play this game to the day I die.
Majora's Mask: Yet another great Zelda game produced by Nitendo, It was dark and has great play, all though some areas let it down. The masks were great ideas and it was great being able to Roll around as a Goron or swim as a Zora, Hell, Even flying around as a Deku Scrub was fun.
It did have inventive and unique temples aswell but other than Great Bay Temple they weren't as good as OoT's, Also there was a lack of them overall. Majora was a fun boss though, Although he does get quite easy to beat with the FD mask.
It did have a large amount of sidequests, Some of which were cool and well thought of but there were those that were just plain annoying and a pain in the back to complete.
Twilight Princess: Although a fair bit easier than the previous games that I have mentioned I loved this game for the fact it was dark. In my opinion Zant was an awesome villain, Although Ganon/dorf controlling him did kinda take away from his overall awesomeness.
Also TP had the 2nd largest amount of Temples out of the 4 I've played, I think it's just 1 behind OoT and they also had some very fun and creative bosses. I liked TP for the fact that you could transform into a wolf to fight Shadow Beasts, That along with the massive arsenal of weapons that Link got in this game.
TP also had a great lengthy story with lots of depth, Zant and Midna adding greatly to that. The Ganondorf battle was very good as well, I hope that Nintendo make more games like this one and OoT.
I am going to decide that OoT is the best out of the 4, I would go for TP but since that it a lot like OoT I think OoT deserve's the credit for how it was built.

Ocarina of Time is my favorite game. I started playing Zelda with the very first, and I took a liking to it, but it was Ocarina of Time that made me a die hard fan for the series.
I'm actually like this for Twilight Princess.
I grew up on the classic LoZ and AoL. A few years ago, my fiance' acquired ALTTP from a thrift store for his SNES and I played that obessively. However, I didn't become *facinated* until his nephew, staying with us for 4th of July '08 brought his GameCube and Twilight Princess for me to fiddle with. Seeing as my birthday was/is July the 7th, and seeing how facinated I was with the game that had go home with the nephew, my man surprised me with a GC and TP of my own.
Several hours of obsessive gameplay later, I found myself writing fanfiction and looking up Zelda sites online.
Then borrowing most of Zelda's other titles for Cube and GBA from the nephew. It's been over a year and he's wanting his games back... I'm all "I've played OoT, but I haven't finished Master Quest yet! Let me finish, please?" and "I've gotten through your Wind Waker, but I haven't finished it blue-shirt yet!" I got Oracle of Seasons as a Christmas gift from him...
So, with me, the early games were enjoyed, TP got me obessed and served as a gateway to the middle titles. And for that, TP has my undying love.
Also, I gave some reasons over in the "Did you like Twilight Princess?" topic in the TP forum: There are several highly personal reasons why I like TP. As in, it felt like a game made especially for me, playing to many of my particular little fetishes. There are many reasons why I relate very well to the Link of the game, and things about the "animal world" that play right into some of the things I've already done and do with my own original literature and art.
So, I actually almost take it as a personal hit when I see people whine about how much they "hate TP." I wasn't here (in the fandom) for the hype, so I do not care that it was "overhyped" because I wasn't paying attention to it - I "came in late" and don't really care too much for the "hardcore gamer vs. casual gamer" wars. I enjoyed the game, adored the story, and I'm not ashamed to say so, nor do I think I should be "put on the outs" for my tastes.

My favorite Zelda games are Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker.
I feel like they bought the Zelda series to a new level of greatness.
They have some of the best stories, characters that go though some form of character development, and some of the best dungeon designs in the Zelda series.

Hard to make a decision, i love them all.
I go for Majora's Mask, in the past i wasn't able to beat this game and said Majora's Mask sucks. But now when i know what to do, this game is absolutely the best. It was nice too change into Darmani, Mikau or the Deku Scrub, and beat the Temples with their forms. The time line makes the game intense and thouger to play.
Most people like my mam have problems with the falling moon, just play the song of inverted time, you have enough time to beat the missions/Temples.
When you got all the masks you can change into Fierce Deity Link, and he was the most awesomeness of the whole game. Still a adult Link in it. :3
Second best is OOT, WW or TP.
OOT was my first 3D Zelda game... It is pure the nostalgia i think. I prefer OOT also, respect for the 64 games! xD

Me I had a really hard time choosing my favorite one. I always preferred the 3-D Zelda games, even tought I really like the 2-D games as well. Thus, I had to choose between OOT, MM, WW and TP. So my order is:
4. TP this is the favorite game to a lot of people, but not me. I really waited for this game impatiently and I bought it almost right want it came out. But I have to say I was a bit disappointed when I played it. It was the first time I didn't like a beggining in Zelda, but it became a really good game after that. Incredible dungeons and bosses. But almost no side quests compared to MM or WW.
3. OOT was my first Zelda and I had only 7 years at that time. It was my first videogame ever. Such great memories from that time. It is an amazing game, has a great story and I still enjoy it today.
2. WW well, they are people that don't like it for it's graphics or because there is too much sea. Me, I really had fun with that game. There were well-tought bosses, lots of side quests and all kinds of cool items to have.
1. MM I have to say, I really loved that game. Some people don't like it or still prefer OOT over this one. But I never forget back in the time I was playing that game. The people that have their schedules, the possibility to transform, great temples, and lots of side quests that I really enjoyed.

You did choose a very good title to play! I adore Wind Waker and itīs what I voted for in the poll. Iīve never been so happy playing videogames as when Iīve played Wind Waker and the graphics and the controls etc. makes it a marvelous experience from beginning to end :).
But itīs not superior to other of the titles like ALttP, TP & OoT.

All the zelda games i've played are excellent, but my personal favorite would definately have to be Majora's Mask.
The reason for this is mostly due to the games incredible atmosphere and gameplay. I know a lot of people don't like the three days concept, but I found it gave the game an excellent challenge and allowed for more detailed sidequests like the Kaifi & Anju sidequest.
This was also pretty much the game that made me a Zelda fan, and it was also one of the first games that made me a video gamer. :nerd:

I felt that each title theme presented the overall tone of the game.
LoZ: Such an groundbreaking theme for a groundbraking game.
AoL: Not as good as the first Zelda, and so was the game.
ALttP: A very powerful theme, with a lot dramatics. That kinda is like ALttP
OoT: This is the exception to the rule, that is what made this such a good theme for an opening, and that is why it is my favorite.
MM: The theme is very light and cheery, then gets all dark, creepy. I am sure Nintendo did that on purpose to represent the overall feel of the game.
WW: Very different from all the other title themes, just like WW.
TP: Tries to be too much like the first opening theme, just like how TP tries to hard to be like OoT.

Am I the only one that noticed the you left off PH, which is one of my favorites, but it really just depends on how I'm feeling at the time to decide which is my favorites... If I wanna look at fun, I'd go with OoT or WW, if I wanted to look at long and fun, it'd be TP, if I was feeling sad, I'd probably play PH or WW... I'd keep going, but I don't really want to talk about all of my moods.

Yes, I realised I left out MC, PH, OoX, and LA. It isn't because I haven't played them, it's because the console title screens are better in my opinion.

We're not necessarily talking about the opening theme of the game, just which game you liked best in general.

Yeah, I didn't have enough room for one of the Zelda titles in the poll, so I just left out PH because it's general accepted as the worst the series has to offer. Not that liking it is bad though. Not at all. I just thought putting in other games besides PH would be more affective.

I'm having a really touch decision bettwen OoT and ALttP. Altough both were my 1st Zelda games, I think ALttp really sticks in my memory for all of the other memories that come with it:
Staying up late at my friends house trying to beat all the dungeons with him;
Staying up late at my friends house getting mad at not being able to beat the dungeons;
Staying up late at my friends house...thanks to Zelda...hahha.
So, I voted ALttP.
But OoT is just sooooo classically perfect! Kakariko Village is just the kind of town I could live in, if it were in real life.
Idk...so hard.

#9. Majoras Mask. Oye chicos and chicas there are so many bad things about this game. First of all the fact that there were four dungeons. The fun of a zelda game is the dungeon crawling and the dungeons were really easy. then majora isn't even considered a final boss in my opinion. he was so easy to defeat and i was like what the heck?!?!? is that all you have majora?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? and all the sidequests. 100 ruppees to the first who says the majora sidequests were boring!
#8. Minish Cap. this is also because it was so easy but it had a good story.
#7. Adventure of Link. this is the worst sequel in the series. It is so dang hard i gave up before i could reach the first dungeon.
#6. Phantom Hourglass this was a letdown for me cuz i was looking foward to a ww sequel but instead i got something almost as easy as tp which in my opinion was the easiest game so far. And i hated the okt so much. Plus it had the easiest dungeons in the game.
#5. Legend of Zelda. now this is where things get good. The original one is pretty decent despite it's age. the only thing that bugged mme was the fact that it was so friggin hard from the lizard on.
#4. A Link to the Past. This was pretty good and is actually pretty decent graphically, storywise, and just plain fun too. It was a challenge but not to much of a challenge and was also one of the first i ever played (gba version).
#3. Windwaker. Yes I'm giving ww one of the top spots in the list. lay off the whole 'oh it has crappy graphics so it must be terrible'!!!!!! estupidos!!! it has anime graphics which are super cool (i love anime) and graphics are just the icing on the cake so to speak. and another thing if it wasn't for ww i probably wouldn't be a zelda fan today. and im willing to 100 ruppees that most of the younger zelda fans were enticed by zelda through ww. it was a decently challenging game that had anime graphics which was great and had plenty of cool items. anywho onto the next game.
#. Twilight Princess. This game was great. It had many cool dungeons, plenty of cool new items, the master sword, and transforming between hylian and wolf was really cool. It had really great graphics too so thats good. but the only shortcomings were that fact it was so easy and having to wait for day or night. it had epic cutscenes, cool characters (i loved colin), and finally the most epic (and evil) final boss within the zeldas so ill let you guess. yes while we all would love to beat the fairy dust out of navi it is ganondorf.
#1. Ocarina of Time. Ah the oc. it had alot of what tp had but actually if tp was just alittle harder it would be in this slot instead of oot. anyways it has decent graphics, ganny as a final boss, 3-Dness, a way to change day to night whenever, and difficult and epic dungeons (my fav dungeon of the game was jabu jabu's belly).

Ugh...I had to pick between TP and OoT. I ended up picking TP because it was probably the first realistic Zelda I ever played. I was late coming into the series. I was actually scared of Zelda when I was a kid. Bummer...
#1: Twilight Princess
#2: Ocarina of Time
#3: The Wind Waker
Majora's Mask is probably right above PH on my list (PH is last). I hated MM...

Above every other title, my favorite zelda game is without a doubt: Majora's Mask
I just love everything about the game: it's darker mood, the sense of impending doom, etc.
On second are two games that I can't say that I like one more than the other:
The Wind Waker: i love it's graphical style. and I love the overall game.
A Link to the Past: for being the very first videogame I've ever played, for introducing me to the series, for re-introducing me to the series and videogaming, because it's the best 2-D Zelda, and because I overall really love it

Majora's Mask. By far.
MM surpasses the other games (for me at least) in terms of difficulty, design, and story. The game was designed well, with great puzzles, sidequests, dungeons, and neat new gameplay elements (such as the time system and the masks). It was also a lot harder than most of the other games, with trickier dungeons and trickier foes.
And the story was incredible. It was deeper, with more unique artistic direction, than some of the other games. And more than just the overall plot was the individual stories of the characters; the over plot of the world as the three days passed. There was incredible depth, as characters traveled from one area to another and all the events meshed together. It was very well done and very intriguing.
It also helps that it had my favorite area in the entire series (Ikana), my favorite dungeon in the entire series (Stone Tower Temple), and my favorite villain in the entire series (Majora). :P

Majora's Mask, HANDS DOWN!
So many memories from this game, from being paranoid about the moon, or amazed at the masks, and dazzled by landscaping and it's interesting system it includes. Majora's Mask will a true Zelda game, in my opinion!

Wow, this is cool. Looks like the two most loved Zelda titles happen to be both MM and TP, both the darkest picks from the series. I think I may be catching on to a different thread with this too.
I think I've decided I will accept TP as my favorite, putting nostalgia aside. Even so, OoT remians a close second, with the amazing MM at an even closer third. I just think TP did a good job of keeping an "OoT feel" to it, and managed to pull of everything just a little bit better.

Hmm...tough one between WW and MM. I have to go with WW though; I played it first and really loved the characters. While MM is similarly focused on character development and sidequests, the three day system kinda undid it for me. It's annoying because I have to put aside say 3 hours if I want to completely beat a temple or something. It just gets to be inconvenient. (although an admirable attempt at bringing something new to the Zelda series)

Well, probably because you're in the very tiny minority that might think that. Many Zelda fans look down on PH when it's compared to the other Zelda titles like ALttP and OoT. So I just didn't bother with it because I knew that the other choices would be more popular anyway (Plus, I was out of room for the poll). Personally, I think PH is a good game. It's a nice solid DS title when compared to other DS games, but it just badly compares when put up against the like of the other Zelda games.

For me, my favorite is extremely close between WW and MM, but I'll have to give the edge to WW. MM is an extremely close second for me, but I've replayed WW more, love the art direction of WW, and I loved the dungeons in WW.
MM had amazing dungeons too, but WW's dungeons give me a certain vibe that no other Zelda game's been able to give off yet.
Pretty much ever other aspect of MM is just on par with WW to me. Majora and WW's Ganondorf are my two favorite villains in the series. Every NPC in both games seems to have a personality, which, to me, the other Zeldas lack. And then top it off, both had a million things to do outside of the main storyline.
And if you couldn't guess, TMC is pretty high up on the list of my favorite Zelda's too. (Guess you can tell I love the Zelda's with shorter main quests, but a ton of sidequests.)

Ocarina of Time is still the best one. It's just such an epic game. Twilight Princess may have had that same feel even more, but it didn't improve much upon OoT because it was so similar to it and didn't really improve much upon the existing formula like OoT did.

Belongs in Zelda Favorites. It's an easy mistake though. ;)
Anyway, my favorite game in the series is MM. OoT was awesome, but MM refined it's gameplay, had a more intriguing story IMO, and had innovative new gameplay elements such as the three day cycle and transformations.
My list of favorite Zelda games (that I've played):
1. MM
2. MC
3. OoT
4. ALttP
5. TP
6. WW
Well, I find it hard to really pick my favourites, so I usually split them up between 2D and 3D. For 2D, it's a tie of OoX and LA. I like all three equally. As for 3D, my favourite is MM.
I actually don't have much of a reason for each one being my favourite, other than I liked them more than the rest for some reason. The 2D ones I listed are just really fun to play and MM had an atmosphere that no other game had. I guess those are some reasons, but the more I think about it, the more I'm not sure. So yeah, OoX, LA, and MM are my favourites.

Majora's Mask, easily. The most tear-jerking story in the entire series, and the one with the best characters. Just didn't find OoT that compelling, and I have no idea why everyone thinks it was the "best game ever created." In all honesty, it was a lot like A Link to the Past, story-wise. Sure, it was a great game, but I think Majora's Mask was way better.

I'd have to say OoT is my favorite because it was the first one I played and beat as kid so it's really what inspired me to continue playing the series =).

Link's Awakening, as obvious of my profile pictures and such.
I've always been more fond of the 2-D Zelda games; I just found them funner to play. As for Link's Awakening, it may be one of the more recent Zelda games I received, but I just love it to bits. The storyline had me very sad at some parts, and the beauty of Ballad of the Wind Fish had me listening to Marin sing it over and over. I also found the game to be quite a challenge in the dungeons, but now I can finish the game easily.
This game really helped open my eyes to the greatness of the 2-D Zelda games. I used to have only played the 3-D ones, until I got A Link to the Past on GBA and Link's Awakening soon after. I adored both, especially LA. It made me realize how overrated the 3-D Zelda games really were, and it also caused me to hate Malon (still do) for basically taking a lot of Marin's elements.

I love TP, but OoT is probably tied with it. I remember being 5 when it came out, and i couldnt get past the part where you had to get past the guards!!! Then i got it for gamecube recently, and i beat it over the summer, in its enitrty:)
But TP just blew me away

My favorite Zelda game is Ocarina of Time. I had fun going through the temples, riding Epona all over Hyrule, looking for the grottos, etc.

This is hard. I guess The Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. The Wind Waker was the game that got me into the series, and I loved it so much. I love the story in it, and the cell shaded graphics. It made the game look cute. Twilight Princess had an amazing story, and the controls were fun on the Wii. The graphics looked so close to real life. I loved it so much. :)

Twilight Princess has always been my favorite game for different reasons. I like different factors of different games. I liked the temples and the boss very much in Twilight Princess the temples and the bosses were easy but enjoyable, and while I still wish they were a little harder, they're still awesome. One thing I didn't really like about Twilight Princess is that you had to wait for night and day, and there was no song or anything to fix that.

I'd have to say Majora's Mask, the 3-Day system and the masks are what won me over in the end. What a great game.
Yeah, this was a no-brainer for me.
1. Majora's Mask
2. Wind Waker
3. Ocarina of the Time (I hate that game for what it is, but it WAS my childhood after all)

The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap is my favourite of them all. It was the first Zelda game I had ever played, and I loved it to death. I STILL play it.

Haha, I thought OoT would claim the first spot.
I'm sorry, but MM fully deserves to be top, it is the most demanding of all the Zelda titles.

It's nice to see that it's tied with TP for the top spot. And the fact that those two are the darkest in the series really makes me think even more about what the fans REALLY want in a Zelda title, and what they claim they want.

Well, I know I have posted in this thread before, but that was when I only had 4 Zelda games. I've gotten more and I would have to say that Zelda II: the Adventure of Link and Spirit Tracks are tied for my favorite.
