I think it's always good for the community and Zelda fans. Anything Zelda is good. Even if it's just a fan made project, it gives us Zelda fans something to hold us over between the games. I'm quite curious to see it in full motion. I just think with an independent film like this, it's going to take quite some time to ever be released and it will be well.... terrible because of poor production. Just think it will be forced togethor. I'll post a Link to it with some more information later.

I agree with Mases, anything Zelda is good. We need to join together to help keep zelda alive, or else it will end up like poor sonic the hedgehog.

Yeah, it sounds like the Parody of Time on Youtube, but longer and more....zelda related. Its about a kid who loses and memory, and he thinks he's link, it was pretty funny......

Zelda the hero of time at this website www.legendofzeldaseries.com this is where the the trailer is available to view. I am just curious if they are going to be able to get the approval from nintendo to be marketed. Well apparently this low budget movie has been in production for three years just one year short of the Lord of the Rings quite impressive since they have only had one dollar in funds given to them!! I have viewed the movie and to be quite honest after nearly 22years of waiting I am very excited, as a fan and artist myself I know that this cast truly loves this charachter and it just breaks my heart that our character has this much dedication backing from a group of super poor artist and that's all I have to say about that.

>_> The only reason i am going to say i don't hate the idea is because a whole bunch of nooby Zelda Fanbois are like "OMG THIS LOOKS SO CRAP D:"
It's kinda why i prefer the Zelda Cartoon over all of the Games. Strict Zelda Fanboys hate it for being unrealistic to the Zelda Series but from my point of view it makes a good Cartoon.

This looks terrible. Some cosplay nerds attempting to re-create an epic feel to the gaming series. I dont think Legend of Zelda would ever work with live actors, it would work alot better as a CGI or Anime film. Legend of Zelda has an anime style.

I agree completely, Taakeslottet. IF a Zelda movie is ever made, I would sure hope that it would be made in either CGI or anime. Although the issue of voice acting would be something to think about, and I also don't know who would make the movie.

There is a Zelda movie being made in cgi animation, its unofficial but looks the most promising fan made Zelda movie thus far. Go to ganonstower.com.

For those of you who have never seen the trailer for this movie, I finally got around to heading over to Legends and Adventure. The video is also posted at youtube. Cartoons just included a youtube embedding thingy within the forums so here it is...

After watching it over again, my opinion has changed slightly. It really does look nicely done... For a relatively small project.
The project hasn't been updated in quite a awhile though. Not sure what the current status is. The site that was being featured at was getting annoyed of answering e-mails about it. She had said that she wasn't a part of hosting the project but it was rather just being hosted by them.
As low as my expectations are set for the movie, I think it should be at the very least, watchable. Hopefully we do get to see it someday.

aww I like sonic the hedgehog! :puppy:
I've seen the trailer for the movie, and honestly, it looks terrible. Not just because it's low-budget. Not just because Link looks like he's 30 (is anyone else bothered by the fact that Link is supossed to be...you know, a kid, or at the oldest a teenager, and yet the actor who plays him is obviously an adult?). Not just because the actors have Triforces drawn on their hands with sharpie.
All those things are problems, but the biggest problem for me is that the story/ies of Zelda simply do not lend themselves to film medium. Let's face it: the storylines in Zelda are simply cliche, cookie-cutter versions of a common literary archetype known as the Hero's Journey. The unlikely hero (Link) gets a call to adventure and must undergo a series of trials (dungeons), slay the dragon (Ganon), and rescue the princess (Zelda)/save the world. The duality of good and evil is extremely black-and-white. Now, many other epics follow a similar formula, but the battle between good and evil is often more complex. In things like, say, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, good and evil is not so black-and-white, there are other side-plots to keep things interesting and more original, and at least the movies made of those stories had the budget to make everything visually appealing if all else failed.
Now, the Zelda sortyline works for a videogame. It's okay if the plot is cliche when it's a game because you're actively involved in the story. The driving force of the entertainment is not centred around the plot alone. But when you take out that player involvement, you're really just left with a story that has been done time and time again, and indeed, usually done better than this movie that's in the works.
Why does Zelda HAVE to be a movie? It works beautifully as a videogame, so why not leave it at that? Given that it's so hugely popular, and has remained so hugely popular since its conception, I don't see it dying out anytime soon, and I see this movie attempt as simply a group of gamers with too much money and too much time on their hands.
And was I the only one bothered by the use of the Requiem for a Dream theme in the trailer? Seriously, is that even copyrighted? People need to stop using it for every dramatic moment in a movie/trailer.

Miku, I think you're giving these guys a hard time. I agree, making a video game into a movie is difficult, but it could still come out all right. These guys are just trying to have a good time, and to be honest, I would like to watch it whether it's of good or bad quality. This makes me sound like a fanboy or something, but it would be fun to watch either way. The bad quality would just add to the overall humor of the film.
What you said about the Zelda story not being able to be made into a movie, that's cow patties. It doesn't have to follow the story pf a previous Zelda game. I know that the series is the same story being told over again in a slightly different way, and this can do the same thing. Except, not so slightly this time...

I agree with this too, coming from an anime fan i would prefer the movie to be an Anime. Or least cgi, it'll made the movie a lot interesting and grabbed more attention of Zelda fans. So i simply say.. i wont be watching this movie.

Isn't there a Zelda movie that LegendofZeldaSeries.com or w/e is covering? It looked pretty cheesy, and I'm pretty sure its fake...
But if they do make a Zelda movie, it better pwn, unlike the Mario Bros Movie.

Yes Zypher, this is that site you are talking about. Legends and Adventures is http://www.legendofzeldaseries.com/
And as terrible as that Mario movie was, I can't get enough of it :)

well the movie looks like its on a pretty low budget, but the music sounds really dramatic and all. As long as it sorta sticks to the storyline I'll be happy. LIke the mario bros movie really had nothing to do with mario. There wasn't even a peach. As long as there is link, zelda, ganadorf, and the triforce it should be good.
I hope it doesn't have tingle

**Update**
Lysia from Legends & Adventure has given a short update about the game. Nothing exciting really, but it's nice to hear at least SOMETHING about the game. The link can be found below.
http://www.legendofzeldaseries.com/main.php?page=news/20080429.html
Here is the text from the update made by Lysia
It has been a long time since we’ve had any news on the independent Zelda film, The Hero of Time. As the months passed, some people became impatient with the lack of news. Some people suspected the movie was a hoax, or that it had been cancelled. “Post an update just to tell us that it’s still being made,” some people have said. And so, this is why I’m posting this update. To tell you that the film is indeed still being made.
Unfortunately, there is still no news on a release date, or how the movie will be released. The reason for the lack of updates is that Joel Musch, from BMB Finishes, has told me that he feels silly posting an update that isn’t really an update. He’d rather spend his time working on the movie itself. I also doubt that we’ll have news on a release date until the movie is all but totally complete. As those of you who have been following this film for a long time will know, the trailer was released with an estimated release date of 2006. The film was a much bigger project than anticipated, the release date was not met, and so BMB Finishes are hesitant to give another date, in case it also falls through. The movie is being made by various people who are all volunteering their spare time. No-one is getting paid, and everyone has a life outside of it: studies, work, etc. When you consider the various bits and pieces that have to come together to make a single scene, and then the fact that you may have to wait for the people working on these bits and pieces to actually finish their bits, it can take a while just to get one scene together.
The film has most definitely not been cancelled. The folks from BMB Finishes have put years into it now. Even if for some reason, it couldn’t be finished, it’d probably be released as it is at the time. Years of hard work aren’t just going to be thrown away.
It’s also not a hoax. There is evidence, and not just my word, that it’s still being worked on. The film’s composer is active on the discussion board. You can see footage of the film on actress Hannah Fierman’s acting reel. And honestly, what sort of person is going to play a hoax like this for over 2 years?
I know that the long wait has been very frustrating. I can’t wait to see the film as much as the rest of you! Please be patient for a little longer.
