who is looking foreward to buy this game? i really loved mario kart double dash and mario kart DS. i can 't wait to get this game, looks so much fun!
the wifi feature will be awsome. To play against 15 people at once is pretty big for me.
also its cool that the wii steering wheel will come packaged with the game. its a good thing that you can also use the good old GC controller.
and the new class of vehicles looks also awsome. cool thing about this, characters will also use motercycles, for instance wario 's motercycle of warioware thats also as side special move in SSBB. there is so many choice of carts and motercycles this time. so that means more varaity of attributes of each vehicle.
there also announced that some DS tracks will be remade in the game.
the release dates:
US: June 30, 2008
Japan: April 10, 2008
Europe: April 11, 2008
Australia: April 24, 2008
Lol, finnaly Europe gets a cool game before US. Well its only fair because US got SSBB first. besides the date of SSBB isn 't still announced. but still to get SSBB first, thats still better.
anyway who is going to buy this game?

I really only enjoyed playing Mario Kart 64 and even the version on the SNES. Double Dash was ok...
This new one looks promising, kind of a mixture between MK64 and Double Dash.

I liked mario kart 64, i hope they use that 'arena' with those four coloured blocks (i always called it the lego level) in battle mode.

I belive it's called Block Buster. I actually really hated that level, I spent half the time just driving around trying to find any opponent :p
If I'm going to buy a Wii, this is definitely one of the games I'm going to have. MK for SNES was amazing, MK for N64 was amazing, MK for GC was amazing... hm, haven't played MK for DS, but what the heck. MK for Wii will probably kick major arse.

mario kart 64 was cool and my fave level was wario stadium.
only dissapointing part was that the game itself is 3d but the racers were made out of sprites, wasn 't a pretty good combination.
double dash was pretty cool.
also like the co-op feature there.
and bomb battle against other people was super fun.
collecting lots of bombs and then just throw them at your opponent as much as you can, was like a warfield.

The date for the US is actually April 27th- http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2008/03/12/mario-kart-wii-slides-into-a-spring-release/
But yeah, this game looks good. Double Dash was horrible, so its been a while since a good console MK was out.
Online play looks really great, with the MKWii channel and all that. Theres also up to 12 people that can race online, and battle mode looks cool as well.

well mario kart double dash wasn't terrible, it just didn't have anything "great" to it. Sure two people could share a go kart, but i never used that. If anything it made the steering more annoying. The snes mario kart and the n64 one were both great. If you played mario kart ds its a lot like mario kart 64. Mario kart wii does look really good despite the uncreative name of "wii" in the title. As said before wifi will change the game so much for the benefit. Also the wii wheel seems promising.

You're saying that like Nintendo never called games in accordance to its system.
- Zelda 64 (OoT)
- Super Mario 64
- Mario Kart 64
- Castlevania 64
etc etc etc
I dont think its uncreative really...those type of games (spinoffs) really dont need a full blown title. Since most are just upgraded versions of the previous game.
How can anyone say Double Dash was horrible? The control in that game was perfect. Kind of like 64 but a whole lot smoother.

I can't wait to pick up a copy of this, but I'm hoping you can use the controller regularly instead of being forced to use the wheel accessory.
Speaking of the wheel accessory, how much extra do you think Nintendo is going to add just for it? Think of games like Guitar Hero, where almost half of the price is just the plastic guitar itself. I'm hoping it is just a snap in thing like the Zapper Gun, and doesn't have any function of itself other than holding the Wii remote - that would probably add a nice 15-20 dollars onto the price.
Only time will tell.

Double Dash was horrible because the tracks sucked, and the racing was boring. Nintendo tried to get that double kart thing, but it didn't really work out...
I probably won't get it the day or week it comes out though...I'm broke after I bought Brawl :(

well buying a single wii wheel is 10 dolllars. It would probilily just add that to the price of the game its self.

Nintendo usually gives it to you free with the game. Thats how it was with the Wii Zapper and other accesories..It'll probably be 50$ total.

I went to the store yesterday, and saw the wheel accessory. Like firebunnies said it was only 10 dollars, so I'm guessing the release price will be 50-60. I'm still kind of behind in wii games.

I finally got it. I was very lucky, I bought the last one. The multiplayer is fun like always and the online part makes it even better although loading times can be long.

It was €49,95 in Holland, so I guess it will be $49,95

yes, it is a fun game. I was lucky, it was 2 days after the release and i managed to get the last one. I play a lot online too, but most of the times i loose miserably. by the way, i have a new wii (my old one was overheating all the time and i got a new one from ninty) so i have another wii number, do you want it oni?
Onilink89

yeah sure PM your number.
but keep in mind that i'm getting a new internet provider.
so for now i have no internet. but i will PM you back if i have internet again.
People say the game is one of the best ones, but based on the pics/videos, it doesn't seem all that interesting to me. Though, I can't really say anything until I try it. I may agree with them!
I really liked the game, I'm still getting used to the wheel, but it has a lot of different levels too it, and I think a much harder rainbow road. And there are so many things like lighting bolts and bullet bills that people in last place get, it's crazy. :)

true, I was playing a single player grandprix and I got 3 red shells and 2 blue shells in 40 seconds. It was so unfair.

Ive played most all the mario carts. There fun but the races can get boring. No gear shifting and every game its basically the same concept. I mean look how far the donkey kong series has come. They even switched main charecters and mario kart cant even get some gameplay improvments?

finnaly, i got the game, didn 't knew why nintendo took a while too send the new stock here? i don 't know if other counties had the same problem.
anyhow, this is really an awsome game, i love it.
but for some reason i feel that the quality is a little reduced compared to double dash.
how should i say it, its more hyper then a a mario kart title that i played so far compared to mario kart wii.

yeah same here, the courses are really cool. and i really liked that nintendo made 4 extra retro cups to play.
so far, i used a used an oniline guide to unlock everything.
even with the guide it wasn 't easy, but somehow i unlocked everything.

Oh Mario Kart Wii is just Amazing for the new characters you can unlock, the wicked karts, the bikes, The only thing I really hate about it is using the dang Wii steering wheel So I usually just use the GC controller but occasionally i will use the Wii wheel, but that doesn't turn out so good ;)

hmm yeah, same here, also use the GC controller most of the time.
i checked my statics on mario kart wii and i only used 3% of the wii wheel.
i only use the wheel sometimes for fun or when i feel like it. bits a pain with drifting when you use the wheel, so evertime if i use it, i will set the drifting option on automatic.

I'm working on getting Dry Bowser, but uh, I can't get near it. At least a 1 star rank on every 150cc cup? >_> That's like almost a perfect in every stage. Except for some exceptions where you can come in second and still get a star rank. But what surprised me though was that I got a 2 star rank on Special on 100cc, which amazed me because no matter how hard I tried(for the purpose of unlocking Dry Bones, I think?) I couldn't get a perfect score, but I just amazed myself there. :P

well i unlocked everthing and dry bowser is my one of the characters that i mostly use.
it isn 't just about getting a perfect score. its more like: maintaining the 1st place most of the time during in each race.
so only advice i can give you is: play the game a much as you can and eventually things that seem hard gets really easy (same thing happend to me)
and if you have a shell or banana and you are 1st during a race, don 't use it and always keep it so you can intercept/protect yourself if CPU uses a red shell.

Yeah, that's what I do, and I also save my mushrooms for any shortcuts or crap like that. Wait, I noticed in how you unlock Dry Bowser, it says to get a star or higher ranking on all the 150cc Wii Cups, in the others, it says to get {something} on all the {something}cc Cups. Any difference possibly? One says Wii one doesn't.
Also, do you use Manual or Automatic?

wii cups are the 4 wii courses, in other words:
mushroom, flower, star, special cups.
the other 4 are the retro cups:
shell, banana, leaf, lightning cups.
to unlock dry bowser you only need to get at least 1 star in all wii cups at 150CC
you will unlock the large kart Aero Glider (i think in USA its called Streamliner) if you earn at least 1 star in all 150CC retro cups.
and like i said before in one of my last posts, mostly i use the GC contoller at Manual.
i only use Automatic when i use the wii wheel (that i barly not use)

I can't even get the damned star cup finished. I'm using my Mii and the something scooter, it's in the same class as the Flame Runner or whatever it's called. It seems every time I get to the last damned lap I get bombed with like 382037847984 things in front of the finish line. For example, here are my last three races.
1: I've led since the first lap was finished, a few feet away from the finish line, banana thrown right in front of me, slip on another banana, crushed by a mega mushroom.
2: Bombed by blue shell, hit by Bullet Bill, and POW block.
3: Red shell, green shell, and a banana.
All of these occur seconds in front of the finish line, right after another.

It's as if they set up the game to where it just happens to destroy you at the last lap. Either that or screw you up right away.
I've been trying cars that have some speed, good if you don't get hit by items a lot, but since they have very low acceleration it's hard to start back up.
Then I try some cars with good acceleration, too slow...
The Star Scooter or whatever it is that I use has decent of both, but they're still blasting ahead of me.
I can't use my gamecube controller because whenever I turn the vehicle doesn't turn as much as it should, causing me to lack behind and hit walls and run off-road.
