A Rumored Portable GameCube

I'm not sure whether these are real or not, but I would sure love to play wind waker wherever I go, though this video got a lot of hate comments. Sorry if this is a duplicate topic.

I've seen some pretty crazy fan-made console-portable adaptations before, but they were all cartridge based. I'd love to see a portable Gamecube. It would make so much sense.

I've already seen some of these before, and they were fake. Besides, why would Nintendo take a step back and make a portable gamecube, when they've got fully functional DS's (portable) and Wii's (Better than Gamecube) ?

The first images in the video look more official than the other ones with the ridiculously huge case for it, but they're still, unfortunately, fake. I really do like the look of the first one, but it's based on the old GBA design. It would be taking a big step backwards if it were real. It also would have been a better time for this to come out when GC games were still readily available on the market. Say, 2 years into the GC life cycle, this would have probably done better.

I would love to have a portable system from Nintendo that had GC quality games on it, but I really don't see them using the GC name and game library when that system did not do as well as some of their other systems. I think they'll be sticking with the DS and Wii brand names for awhile now that they are household names. All subtitles for Nintendo systems were dropped when they got DS and Wii. People used to say they are playing "Nintendo" but now it's just "DS" and "Wii" without the Nintendo title. (If you follow me) They will milk that for some time I imagine.

Oh wouldnt that just be awsome. a portable GC. The first one looks like the only one that would be good, and allthough they are fake imagine how sweet that would be. WW on the go, Melee on the go etc. It would be really interesting if they did release one, how they would deal wit the controller, and make it seem like you were playing a real GC.

Nothing will beat the might of the DS. There isn't any need for another portable console, especially from Nintendo ;)

Wow, I'm sure that this fake, but if it was real, I would be pretty excited. Some of my favorite games are on the GameCube, such as MeLee, Sunshine, Superstar Baseball, and Mario Party 7, so I would love to be able to play those games in the car or anywhere else. This might actually be a good idea for Nintendo to consider, because I would buy it over a DSi to tell you the truth.

I'd love to play my Gamecube games on the go. However I'm not sure Gamecube discs are the right media to store the games on. We all know what happened to the PSP... UMDs have slow loading times, make a whole lot of noise and are prone to scratches. A HDD to store the games on would be ideal. A GBA SP like form factor would also be nice.

And then we wake up and realize Nintendo will never create such a device... :(

Many mechanical flaws with that design, the one in the video would be impossible to build (at least if you wanted it to work). Some guy DID make a portable gamecube a while back, though. I think it's the same guy who made a portable NES and SNES, where you just stick the games in the back to play them. Pretty innovative.

The only GameCube game I can think of being fun on the go is Melee. All the others I was going to say have sequels on the DS already. :D

i heard that ppl make these things outa guts of whatever system and make it portable. i saw a vid where a mod made a SNES out of a toaster.

DSi just came out.
And ds can handle better graphics than N64.
It takes atleast 3 years to next handheld.

I highly doubt that video shows legit models, but a next gen portable system would be a good idea for Nintendo. I thought the DSi would be just that, but I guess I was misled :P

I doubt it's in development right now though, and if it is, it's probably in it's conceptual phase. They would have said something at E3, I mean, Sony did an entire expo on they're new portable system. But I'd be all for it if they did make a portable system with the graphical capabilites of the Gamecube. I'll bet the disks would be hard to manage though :lol:
