how did you guys start playing zelda. Are you old school gamers who played the original Loz or started at Oot or even tp you got into it. I'm just curious to know.

I started playing zelda when i was 6 and i got Oot and loved it. A year later i got mm and then a bunch of other zelda titles.

When Link to the Past came out, Hostess and Pepsi had a little contest, and a friend of mine won a Zelda cartridge. And I had the only SNES in the neighbourhood at the time. So we plugged away at it between the two of us.

I'm not sure, but I think the cartridge I have is the same one. He kinda got bored with it after we beat it the first time.

i think this should move to the "world of zelda" section, but the mods or admins will take care of that.

anyway.
it all started for me with OOT when i was little.
i even had trouble finding the kokiri sword at the start. It was so addicting that i played it everyday, just walking around hyrule field was a blast. Later when MM came out i bought it instantly, one thing sucked and that is that i had to buy an expension pack for it but still it was worth it.

before WW came out i borrowed the SNES of my best friend (some of you know him as Dragonking from old ZD), i decided to play Alltp. first i was thinking it was a crappy zelda game because it was 2D but when i start playing it i realised it was one awsome game.
Lol, thnx to Alttp i joined ZD, because i was stuck at a temple and googled for a guide, i found mases his Alttp guide, because the guide was so well made with pictures and all, i decided to register. From that moment on i became a Zelda fan. I wanted to play every zelda game that i could get my hand on.

I can't move this topic, it's out of my jurisdiction, otherwise I would.

Let's see, my first Zelda game, the one that started it all, was Link's Awakening. Not the DX version or anything, the original version on the gameboy color. I got it when I was like 9 or something, and I played it all the time. I originally got the idea of getting the game from my friend, who also played Zelda back in the day.

Actually there was 2 games that started me out. I was about 7 or 8 years old (back in 2001), and my dad bought me an NES for my birthday. it came with around 20 games, and got a good deal off of a friend of his. One of those games happened to be LoZ. I started playing and said "Hey, this game is alright... but I could use something a little easier." Back when i was 7 years old I didn't have sense enough to make anything out of the game, and died very quickly. So my dad went out and bought me OoT for my N64, which I had acquire before the NES system. Go figure. Anyway, from that point on I bought every Zelda game I could get my hands on. Right now I don't have as many games as I'd like, and my NES is no longer working, but once summer rolls around and I can make some cash, that's all going to change. ;)

I started with Link to the Past, then went to Link's Awakening and then the original LoZ, and AoL.

Myself picked up OoT sometime in 2001, contiued to MM, but then stoped for a long, long time. I didn't became a Zelda-freak until the end of 2005, when I started to play various Zelda titles...

Played the original Legend of Zelda and Adventure of Link when they first came out on the NES, but only played through to the second dungeon or so. When I got older, I still remembered all the tricks, secrets and goodies from watching my brothers years back :)

Heh, I feel old now. My first experience was with the original Legend of Zelda. I remember walking downstairs into my family's basement, and seeing my older brother play it. I asked him if that was the game from the commercials, he said "yes" and handed me the controller.

The rest is history.

A Link to the Past started it all for me way back in the day. It was almost the first game I ever played and I loved it and still do. It is a masterpiece in just about every sense of the word I would say and it is a must try for any Zelda fan.

For me, the first Zelda game I played was AoL. I was about 5, and my uncle has it on his Nes. didn't know what it was, or how to play it, but I loved it.
I didn't actually get into Zelda until I played OOT. I was about 13, and I only played it because I was told it was cool. At first I hated it, cause it confused me way too much, but once I figured how the game worked, I loved it!

hehe.. I started with the original LoZ but I never understood it... I liked it though. Also, I just recently tried OoT on the Wii's Virtual Console, and was stuck for about a month (Yes, a month) trying to figure out how to break that spider web. I moved onto Super Mario World (Which I also have on VC) Until I saw a guide for OoT online. After that I loved it.

I feel so unexperienced. My first was OoT way back in 2001. And yes it was on gamecube by then, and that's in fact what I played it on....

You and I are almost the same person. :) Besides Link's Awakening, OoT was my first Zelda game, and I played on the Gamecube about that time.

Must've been when I got the GameCube in Christmas of 2004. After playing SSBM in 2005, and flicking over the trophies, I thought, "Hmm, that Legend of Zelda seems rather interesting." So I got The Wind Waker. And loved it.

Four years later, I have most of the games in some shape or form. Bar Crossbow Training and the CD-i titles.

My first Zelda game (and video game) was Twilight Princess in February '07. My best friend invited me over to her house and I started playing it. Thus, the obsession was started. My mom got me a GC in the summer and I bought TP and borrowed TWW. Then when I was at my uncle's house, I saw they had Collector's Edition, so I borrowed that. And finally in April I started playing the older Zelda games.

I started when i was about 4 or 5 at my cousins. They had an snes and a link to the past so i played that. then my old baby sitter had a n64 and OoT but there were about seven 6 year olds. Then i bought phantom hourglass. then we just got a wii a few months ago so on wii shop i bought alttp. and thats my zelda history.:D:D:D

It all started off with LoZ for me....then of course I followed it up with AoL...pretty much whenever a Zelda game came out--I bought it. So I guess I'm pretty Old Skool...

It's been awesome to see the changes as "next-gen" consoles come out, but I'll always love the classic 2-D Overhead view of the NES/SNES....

...But that's just me....

The first Zelda game that I actually remember playing was Adventure of Link, but I merely seen it played a bit, and remember it's gold cartridge looking kool. As far as actually setting down and playing, I started with Link's Awakening. I had more of an interest in Sonic and Mario games when I was younger, and Mortal Kombat. Although I had Link's Awakening pretty well mapped out in those days, it wasn't until Ocarina of Time until I really got into the series.

I started playing zelda when my older brother bought Link's Awakening for our GB original. Not long after that we got a GBC and Oracle of Ages, which was what really got me liking the series. Me and my friend got a N64 and purchased Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. The games I have never played are Aol, ALttP, OOA and PH.

Didn't we already have a thread like this? I started Zelda when I was pretty young, under 5 years old - playing A Link to the Past. After that, I couldn't get enough of it. Within a year I had nearly every Zelda title and had completed them all. Great memories :)

Nope this is the only one, you just havnt been on for a while (and it was surprisingly started by firebunnies Oo)

As I stated before, I have been playing since I was about 4 or so with the original titles Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link. I used to watch the Zelda cartoons in the mornings in '89 which is the reason why I back them up so much nowadays. When ALttP released, I pretty much played that game to death. Around the same time LA was released and I was hyped to have portable Zelda on my original Gameboy (yeah GBC nor GBA was out then newbies, the good ole black and white).

One time my mom and I were at Blockbuster looking at video games to rent. That was right when Wind Waker came out. I was aware of the Zelda games and remember seeing OoT and MM in Blockbuster many times but I never really gave the series a chance for some reason, I don't know, I guess I thought it was weird or something. My mom saw WW and thought it looked cool and showed it to me and I reluctantly agreed. I played it and instantly loved it and have been an avid fan ever since. What's funny is my mom was the one who introduced me to the Zelda series.

Started with LttP, then from there I started trying to 100% complete every Zelda game. I have done that thus far ending last month completing TP 100% I have beat every Zelda game 100% and only using guides for the items that I just couldn't figure out. I have beaten all three OoT and have to say that was the funnest with Majora's mask right behind.(Original, MQ, and GC Bundle) MM just had so much more for you to do after beating the main story and the completion of the Bombers notebook was both annoying and fun.

I used to and still do watch my mom play LoZ when I was younger and even today. Today it's more boring watching, lolz, but it's still fun. Espically during bosses and mini-bosses and stuff cuz she'll start swearing.
So I guess once I got older and got into video games, I just kinda played LoZ and I've just always liked it. Mario's cool too, but nothing like LoZ.

I started playing at age 45, when my oldest son was 7 yrs. old and my youngest son was 4 yrs. old. We had an N64 and bought the game used. It had already been beaten, and we did not know anything about it. We erased the files and started from scratch. That summer, my boys and I played all the time. I thought it was the most fascinating game I had ever seen! We played for weeks without a strategy guide or any kind of cheats, and we had such a great time figuring things out! I finally got a Prima guide, and the night before school was to start that year, my oldest son beat the game! It has been one of my passions ever since!

I started to play legend of zelda back in the 80īs. In the same decade I was lucky enough to find out about AoL. Almost 20 years later (earlier this year) I played AoL again and realized that there had been a lot more games released since I was a kid!! Thank you AoL

Sadly, I was unable to be exposed to the older games as a child - seeing as how my parents thought Duck Hunt was dangerous when we got our NES. I had never played Zelda until I met my boyfriend in school and saw all his Zelda shirts. At that point in time, even in middle school - my parents wouldn't allow me to play video games because I snuck through my neighbor's window as a child to play SNES.

I used to love playing video games, and I recall going to friend's houses who had video game consoles over others just to be able to play. The first time I went to Alder's house, he wouldn't even let me touch his 'MINT' Nintendo Power - and while rummaging through the games I was permitted to touch, he allowed me to borrow the Minish Cap.

Basically, I'm quite the newbie when it comes to Zelda - seeing as how I was first exposed three years ago. But since then, I haven't stopped playing. ^^
