I was just wondering. After I get myself a new laptop and PS2, I was going to get a DS or DS Lite. Would I be best to get Phantom Hourglass or not?
I know what the graphics are like, but is it a good game overall?

well if u r asking this question can you call youself a zelda fan? ALL zelda games are worth getting. Especialy this one. I give it a 9 out of 10 and any zelda fan would agree its a great game. Dungeons are fun, boss battles are fun, using the touch screen is fun, and sailing is kinda fun. Overall phantom hourglass is an exelent game and you'd be missing out on alot of fun.

I definitely recommend picking up this game if you purchase a DS. You can pick up a used copy of this game (or new) from www.amazon.com for a great price. If you like Zelda games then this should be at least in your top five.
When I saw this game I didn't think I'd enjoy it very much. I thought the controls would be awkward, the game would be shallow because of the new controls, or too short. It ended up being a well thought-out game. The controls are extremely easy to get used to, and the other aspects of the game are there as well. The game has great sound, in my opinion, as any other Zelda game does. The graphics in a game don't matter to me, but I thought they were okay for the DS. They were going for a 3D/2D design aspect when developing Phantom Hourglass, while keeping it Cel-Shaded. The game is fairly long, about as long as The Minish Cap. There are a lot of side-quests as well, along with 5 or so mini-games.
The only thing this game lacks is difficulty. I beat this game the first time through without dying once, and beat it again with 3 hearts, no shield, upgrades, or potions, and died only two or three times.
If you're thinking of buying a DS just to play this game, then I don't know. I'm assuming you'd be buying a DS with a few games as well. Amazon sells Zelda bundle packs, with a golden Zelda-themed DS Lite with Phantom Hourglass. I'm not sure if they're still available though.
Comparing it to other DS games, it's a good game. I don't regret buying it.

Let me put it this way. If you get a DS, you have no excuse for not getting this game. Yes, its fantastic, worthy of the Zelda title.

yes, for the most part every zelda game is worth picking up. Skip over the CD-I atrocities though those are the only ones that aren't worth owning. PH seems like it uses the same gameplay engine (except for the new stylus user interface) as WW and is really long I've been playing it on and off for awhile and still have a long way to go.

Though the music is certainly not the finest in the franchise, It's bloomin' Zelda. Well planned dungeons, spot-on gameplay, and amazing fun with a hint of nostalgia. You'd do yourself a huge favour to get it.

I think it's totally worth buying. Not only can you play the game, there are TONS of side quests/adventures. Also, the game itself in its entirety is wonderful. The weapons are good too.

How many hours of game time does PH typically provide?

I think it is quite clear that at this forum almost all you are going to hear is that the game is definitely worth getting. For those that say you shouldn't get it, their main reasons are that it is easy or they are strictly giving their opinion on it compared to other Zelda titles. I don't really think any serious Zelda fan would ever say that you SHOULDN'T get Phantom Hourglass.
Nonetheless, I think this topic has served its purpose.
