Many of them have come in different formations but similar type items.
Like the LIght Arrows as oppose to the Silver Arrows, the Bunny Hood Mask instead of the Pegasus Boots. Flute and Ocarina are somewhat similar. The Medallions sorta like the Dins Fire and the other two element thingys in Ocarina of Time.
THe Rings were just changed to Tunics, power bracelet has a few diffferent similar type items. Bug Catching Net was somewhat obsolete since you can now just catch things with the bottle.
That all being said, I would love to see certain items come back or be reinvented like the Fire Rod and Ice Rod. The Book of Mudora could be soemtihng important in story. I was happy to see the Shovel back in Phantom Hourglass. In general, it seems that Magic has become less and less important as the series has gone on and I would love to see it become more involving.

Well all the bunny hood did was make Link run faster, the pegusus boots made Link dash. The spells in OoT, are nothing like the medallions...you should know that Mases :P..when was Link ever able to kill every enemy on the screen with dins fire, nayrus love, or farores wind? Yeah the power bracelet was changed to mitts/glves in alttp, and then gauntlets later on. But even tho...the tunics havn't been the same since the classics, all the tunics from new Zelda are for certain purposes and rarely used, not defense power up.
Personally I don't consider the light arrows and silver arrows the same. The light arrows only dealt damage to Ganondorf, it was the Master Sword that must be used to kill him. But the silver arrows is the only thing needed to kill Ganon. Well ALttP says both Master Sword and Silver Arrows.
I agree we need more on the Book of Mudora...seemed like a key historical item I ALttP that could tell everything known about the storylines.

Yes i agree, magic is fading away. they didnt even put it in Twilight.

I believe the fire rod was in beta Minish Cap, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree - but regardless, they are both extremely powerful items required to kill Ganon. Well, at least a form of him. I think Silver Arrows would have returned to OoT if it wasn't for Fire and Ice arrows. Fire, Ice, and Silver just don't go together, while Light fits in perfectly.
I agree with your statement, but I still think they're very similar. Kind of like using a wooden nail to kill Dracula instead of a wooden stake. Almost the same thing but has the same effect.

Yes indeed, the Light Arrows were used to weaken Ganon. However, without the Light Arrows, he would be unbeatable. Although the Light Arrows aren't used to deal the final blow, they are still nessecary for his death.

Of course there were the silver arrows that, if I remember correctly, killed Ganon, but they're obviously unrelated items.
Oh, and I could've sworn the rings came back in Four Swords Adventures.

Sure, some items may have been lost to the newer versions of the games, but I believe that they have been brought back as either different styles or just left out due to irrelativity, like linkman8 said.
I'm sure this has been said before, but the power bracelet was brought back in the form of gauntlets before. The rings as tunics, the silver arrows as light arrows (and one could possibly say as the fire arrows as well), and so on and so forth.
As for the raft, you could say that it was replaced in Twilight Princess with warping through Midna.
I may be wrong, I may be right, but I still think that the classic items that have been lost were either brought back or just left out for certain reasons. Either way, the games are still great, am I right? lol

Like Bahamut said, I think the items that WERE left out (like candle, cane of byrna/somaria) were left out for a reason. I mean, the lantern in TP acts as a candle and makes a bit more sense, and the newest cane is the cane of pacci from the Minish Cap. Even though it has no relevance to Byrna/Somaria, it's still the only other cane in the game. But anyway, I think the items that were taken out were replaced with better items. Nevertheless, they were still left out.

Let's look at all the Items Avenged listed and see if we can put some sort of 'similar' item in its place.
The Similar Items
- Red/Blue Ring - (Blue Bracelet in Four Swords Adventures)
- Whistle/Flute - (Ocarina from various titles)(Wind Waker)
- Power Bracelet - (Gauntlets)
- Shovel (Shovel in Phantom Hourglass)
The Maybes
- Pegasus Boots (Bunny Hood Mask from Majora's Mask)
- Cross (Lens of Truth from OOT)
- Silver Arrow (Light Arrows from various games)
- Raft & Magic Boots (Red Lions and Linebecks Ship To sail on water)
Nothing Yet
- Fire/Ice Rod
- Cane of Byrna/Somaria
- Magic Cape
- Moon Pearl
- Book of Mudora
- Super Bomb
- Bug Catching Net
- Handy Glove
- Room Clock
- Magic Wand
- Ether/Quake/Bombos Medallions
A majority of the 'Nothing Yets' seems to be magic related items. Nintendo has seem to have had less and less of a focus on magic in recent games so that seemed to eliminate many of the main weapons.
Of these, I'd really like to see the Book of Mudora back. Then the magic weapons like the fire rod, ice rod, can of byrna, cane of somaria, ether, quake, and bombos.
I think the Boko of Mudora could have more to it than just being able to read script off of pedestals. I've always been a sucker for the magic items from A Link to the Past. (Loved the medallions scenes when you had to open up the two dungeons of the Misery Mire and Turtle Rock.)

I belive the silver arrow and light arrow are completely different. One killed Ganon, the other only weakened him. As the power bracelet goes, not the gauntlets but more the braclet in OoT (young Link). Magic Boots..Hover Boots.

The fire and ice rods are also basically the fire and ice arrows.
Id love to see the Cane of Somaria in a 3d game.
