After at last obtaining the elusive Gem Anchor and completely finishing my first go at PH, I've started over from scratch on Save File #2. I'm finding that the game is just as much, if not more, fun than it was the first time around. Already being familiar with all the areas and puzzles and whatnot, it understandably goes much quicker this time. I even went ahead and got the Southeastern and Northeastern Sea Charts in one go through the Temple of the Ocean King. I thought it was neat that Ciela actually acknowledges this feat. And while I'm thinking about it, a quick note about getting the Salvage Arm on the cheap (200 rupees): it isn't loudness, it's duration. I blew into the mic for a good ten seconds and Eddo says something like "Those are some pipes" and gives me the Salvage Arm for 200 rupees. Pretty cool. Right now I just touched down at Goron Island for the first time, so I'm about halfway through and I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through the game a second time and what their impression was this time around.

personaly i don't like going through a game, especialy zelda games twice. The "mystery" of a dungeon is gone and its a little easy. i'd still play ph twice since its really good.

I'm going through PH my second time too. It has a little less level of fun, but the Temple of the Ocean King isn't annoying anymore because now I know what to do.

i just finished my second run with PH. yeah one major advantage playing it your second time is, that you are now more familiar with the temple of the ocean king. i only bother to find the 20 power gems on my second account and i got very lucky with obtaining the ship parts in this account. i got the complete demon ship set without trading or even bothering with minigames. with the salavage arm, i just whistled in the mic for a couple of seconds and it worked out great. got the salvage arm for 200 rupees.

I've been through Phantom Hourglass three times so far, out of boredom. The first time was great, though I didn't get a 100% account. My second run through was a minimalist challenge - no upgrades at all, no heart containers, no shield, no powers, no potions. My third was an attempt at getting a 100% account. I am still missing a few ship parts, and a perfect Temple of the Ocean King Time, but aside from that it is 100% complete.
I found that my second (minimalist) time through was the fastest of them all. I knew what I was supposed to do, and didn't have to stop and check out new things, didn't have to worry about getting all of the things on an island before moving on. I actually beat the minimalist run in two days, I died two or three times in the whole time.
Playing through Zelda games after you've already beaten them can sometimes feel boring, but sometimes I play through them challenging myself to not use things, seeing how well I can avoid upgrades, etc - things like that.

I'm working on my third go round and still haven't caught the big fish. I don't know what to do after THE END. the ghost ship never leaves. am i doing something wrong. I like going through the Temple of the OK over and over, i keep winning golden parts. and enjoy playing the game on Goren. I like the mini-games and think Salvatore's is fun. i win a lot through him and Goren.

I've already beaten the entire game and gotten 100% completed (other than collecting every single Ship Part). It really does take the fun out of it when you play it for a second time though. I have been playing it recently. Kind of funny actually. Whenever I have to use the bathroom for #2, I just grab my DS as I go in, since I know it might be awhile. :) Usually I end up playing and I just keep playing until I reach a notable point in the game to stop. (Reach a new temple, finish a temple, reach a new island, etc...)
All in all though, I think it will be a game, much like all Zelda titles, that after not playing it for 2 years or so, I'll pick it up and fully enjoy it a second time through, since while I'll remember a lot of it, much of the game won't feel as fresh in my mind, which is a good thing.

I totally agree with this. I don't generally play through games more than once after I've beaten them 100%, with the exception of Starfox Command, as there are 9 different endings for it. But after a while, I remember how fun say, MC was and decide to start a new file and go through it all over again. Games that have a good storyline (such as TP) I don't like playing through twice, just because the storyline makes up so much of the game, and I already know what's going to happen.
So I don't think I'll be going through PH for a while again, unless it's to do the 3 heart challenge.
