I am sure there has been a thread like this before, but I couldn't find one, so here goes.
Should OoT, MM, and WW be remade for Wii? I think it would work better for OoT and MM, rather than WW. Twilight Princess, made for Wii and gamecube, is far more similar to OoT and MM, and for me it is just hard to imagine WW on the Wii, as they wouldn't be able to do much with things like the boat. What are your thoughts?

I really don't think that Nintendo should remake them for Wii.
I think that they were good the way they were.
They also were not made to work with Wii controls.so they probably would not work as games that were made only for the Wii.

Good point. Although they weren't made with Wii controls, I don't really see a problem with them making them fit the Wii, but they might have to tweak the gameplay a bit to make it more of a TP perspective.

None of those could work very well. Those games were made specific with button motions. They fight very awkwardly and less free handly. It's just swing left and right. In TP it's swing right left as fast as you can. In OOT and MM, you can't even swing fast.

I woudnīt wanna se a remake of any of those games, not for wii at least. I could love a remake of any Zelda I think, but if the original was a 3D I would want the remake in 2D etc. To remake a 3D game into another 3D game makes no sense for me. You might say, but please the the controllers for wii is superior, I couldnīt agree less :D

I mentioned this in another thread, but this one's more on topic to my reply. I could see them adding Wind Waker to their "New Play Control" line of games like Metroid Prime and Pikmin. I would love to see it with full widescreen support, and the Twilight Princess controls. Granted, they might have to flip the game as they did TP on the Wii. Even though I have Wind Waker for the GameCube, and those discs work in the Wii, I'd still pick up a New Play version instantly, especially at their lower price point.

I don't see OoT or WW being re-made for the Wii, but WW is an excellent candidate for the "New Play Control" series. I doubt anyone would deny that WW is one of the Game Cube's best games, and since it looks like Nintendo is taking the GC's best titles to re-make for the Wii, I say WW is very likely to get New Play Control.

Agreed. Since they are doing the "New Play Control" line of classic GCN games for the Wii, I think WW would be a perfect candidate. Saying that there would be nothing to waggle and point at is just silly. I can think of a million instances where those two features could come in handy. Also, I think the extra item slot would be a great help. I know that WW is one Zelda notorious for having you constantly in and out of your item menu.
As for OoT and MM... meh... I don't see why. They've got OoT on the VC, and I'm positive MM is on the way. Besides, why repackage a product you've already got on the market? If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

i don't think that they should remake those games because part of why those games are so good is the fact that they're classics. Remaking them would just ruin the games.

The only game I could see them remaking for Wii out of those titles is WW, because they have already started reformatting some of the GCN games to Wii controls. OoT and MM won't be remade and I wouldn't want them to be unless they gave them TP graphics which they would make a new game far before they would remake a game with better graphics.

I don't think those games have really been out long enough to be remade. If you mean just controls, I really wouldn't see much of a point in it. Graphics and all, maybe OoT could be remade sometime, but I doubt for the Wii. They have re-released that game, as well as MM, for the Gamecube, and on Wii's Virtual Console. So I don't really see them remaking them. If anything, I would expect an ALttP remake or maybe even an LoZ or AoL remake before I would the later, 3D games.

Nah, I think the VC titles would suffice for OoT and MM. As for WW, New Play would be cool to an extent. "Use the Wind Waker by waving the Wii Remote!" :D
Give it another 10 years or so and I think we could justify an OOT/MM remake, but not yet, especially now we have VC.

As many mentioned before, I think the virtual console throws down most of the remake idea down. Besides I think it is time to jump in other games besides OoT.
For the Windwaker, it is too soon, specially when you can simply insert your gamecube disk and play with it.

Well for games like OOT and MM, they've already got 'em on the Virtual Console, which serves its purpose at this point, and probably shouldn't need to be remade.
WW doesn't need to be remade either. It was fine on the Gamecube, but if they wasted their time remaking it with Wii controls, then no one would buy it and they'd look like they're trying to make a quick buck.
Ultimately the console based games shouldn't be remade necessarily, (VC is fine) but if they wanted to remake a console game for a handheld, *coughDScough* then I would like that much more.

I would buy it. I never frown upon the idea of a company making a quick buck if it's worth paying that buck to play a quality final product. Wind Waker with Wii controls would qualify for me. Add in all the moves TP used, and then make a Wii Remote controlled baton to conduct the various themes and I'd be in. Throw in widescreen as an added bonus since the game already runs in 480p and it's an instant sell for me.
The New Play Control line seems to be doing well. It's a great way to get new people into older GC games that started with Wii as a system. And I don't mean casual players either. I have a number of friends who haven't owned a video game console since the NES, and they have got back into it with Wii.
Nintendo just needs to up their line plan with more titles in the New Play Control series.. They really need to bring the two Metroid Prime titles to North America first, but I think a second wave of titles would welcome Wind Waker with open arms. I would love to hear more titles added ad E3.

No, those games have been released way too many times. N64, Collector's Edition, Master Quest, virtual console. The only one I would want remade is Wind Waker because it would be nice as a Wii NPC with an easier time aiming. (I'm terrible at aiming the bow and arrow with the analog.) Link's Awakening, however, could be remade. There have been rumors about it.

I actually think that it would be a cool idea if they would remake it. It would be a nice blast from the past.

I'd totally go for an OOT remake.
If you isn't your first time, and you aren't wearing Nostalgia glasses, OOT is a very hard game to bring yourself to play through again.
I'd love a non Twilight Princess updated style OOT.
Well, with WW, I don't think so. It was good the way it was, but I think it could still be fun. But then again, you can already play it on the Wii with the GC disc.
However, OoT and MM (mainly OoT) have been done too many times. They don't need to be done again. As much as I like the games, people just need to let them be. 3 or 4 versions of a game is more than enough.

I agree with Legendary Chaos, why do we need to remake everthing, play the classic's, thats why they are classic. I want to see new zelda games, and I underline NEW. I play all the others all the time.

We already have all those games for the Wii.
I popped in my Zelda anthology disk into the Wii just the other day and I played it just fine. Same with Wind Waker.

I think that making Mm and Oot for the Wii would be a bad choice for nintendo they already have them for the virtual console shop (which I have downloaded) and just remaking them for another station might get a negative response from fans.

They could remake those games for the Wii, but I really don't see the point. It is pretty useless and overall, a bad idea.
Who will really buy OOT, MM or WW if they already have the original games? Only those who don't own them will purchase these remakes.
Plus, they already are on the VC. So, it would be stupid to remake them in my opinion. Nintendo should rather put their efforts on new Zelda games, rather than old ones we already have and played so many times.

^ Zarom said it all. ^
No. They really don't need to remade.
Although Wind Waker with wii controls could work and would be kind-of-cool... just no. It seems kind of a pointless thing to do (to me). Just leave them as they are and carry on working on new ones. Although sadly I'd probably still buy the remakes xDDD

I wish they would. Especially Majora's Mask. I wouldn't even mind if they cel-shaded it. Its my favorite Zelda game of all time and I would love nothing more than to play a revamped version on the Wii with motion-sensitive controls. Think about it, for playing the Ocarina, you could press buttons on the remote sideways as if you're actually playing one. And as for the Wind Waker, one could actually conduct with the remote. It all sounds amazing and I wish it would happen, but sadly, it won't.

I would personally buy it but for the minute I would prefer that they concentrated on making other games that already accessible through the Wii via the Shopping Channel...
If they did just make it to get the quick buck then I would still buy it because OoT and MM are some of the greatest games of all time and I've yet to play WW (and I don't want to go to the hassle of buying it for the Gamecube then having to find a decent controller for it.
I don't really see the point in the controlls being changed for it, it would make a change but I would prefer that they just made it for the Wii with another version alongside each game which is harder (like the MAster Quest for OoT).

I'd sooner rather see the gameboy and DS games for the Wii since I don't own a gameboy or a DS, also, it would be kind of cool if they were remade to be 3d like OoT or MM or TP. The thing is, you can already play OoT, MM and WW on your Wii, so it would be kind of redundant to re-make the same story, only so you can use the Wii game mechanics.
Re-making the GB and DS games however, and making them have either the gamecube or Wii mechanics (in 3d of course) would be kinda neat since I never got to play those games.

All those games can be purchased via the Wii from the Game Shop using points...

I don't believe that Nintendo should remake these games for Wii. I would much rather see them put more effort into new material. Nintendo needs to create new games instead of capitalizing on the success they had in the past. Wii sales are lagging, and I think it is because the people who wanted to play the old games on Virtual Console (me) have already bought it. What games does Nintendo have to attract new gamers? Have you seen all the third party games lately? They give me nightmares... o.o

I've bought Ocarina of Time three times already, MM twice. I'd rather buy a new game altogether.

Speak for yourself bby.
When it comes to OoT, why remake it? The graphics are still good to decent. No need to update the gameplay imo. There's nothing to remake without losing some of the original feel-which can be a very bad thing.
