View Full Version : what was one of the worst rages that you got with OoT?

I was going to my younger days and I remembered the worst rage that I got with OoT:
it was in the shadow temple I was fighting "Bongo Bongo" and I lost like a thousand times and I was sooo angry that I punched the couch soooo hard that in that exact moment I could have said "FALCON PAWNCH!!!" and I actually almost broke my hand, 1st- I was restricted from playing in the N64 for like maybe 3 weeks and 2nd- it took me like 4 weeks before my hand healed enought and I could play again. so yeah that was one of the worst rages that I ever had so which one is yours?
EDIT:Thanks Alder Dragon for telling me the real name of the boss.

I remember having quite much problems with Phantom Ganon, made me kind of furious but not something extreme.

I think you mean Bongo Bongo.
My angriest moment of OoT would probably be trying to catch fish in the Fishing Pond. Other than that, the Water Temple and killing all of the poes are probably tied.

Let's see...
I don't get angry while playing games often. But doing the water temple at age 6-7 = anger of not understanding the stupid temple.
Although in MM I think I got brain damage when Stone Tower Temple flipped...

So far in OoT it has been the water temple. I despise it's length!

I would probably agree with the Water Temple. I didn't really go into rages and destroy stuff, but I did get angry and yell at the TV.

I'm sure exactly what it's called, but the dungeon/course that you have to complete to obtain the ice arrows really annoyed me. I would always be half-way to something, like getting to the next room or whatever, and then I would die somehow, falling in fire, or being abducted by the Wall-masters.
The Water Temple wasn't too difficult, I just got so frustrated trying to figure where I was, or where I was trying to go that I'd end up throwing the controller down.
But I think Jabu-Jabu's stomach annoyed me the most. I could never figure out where I was supposed to go, then, by some chance, I'd get there and end up dying, or falling down to some other level. That place really annoyed me.

The Water Temple had me crying when I was younger. My tantrums rarely went to smashing the controller, but usually begging for something to happen.

It took me forever to figure out Phantom Ganon, and Bongo Bongo was just hard and for some reason made me very angry at the time.

well my friends brother when he was playing TP on the Wii he got so mad and threw the Wii remote at his new flat screenD:
Bongo Bongo. Like a year ago, i literally could not beat the guy, I don't know why. I was replaying through the game and I tried AT LEAST 30 times to beat him. I got magic potions in like 3 bottles, i did that every time, a bunch of fairies, I still couldn't beat him. Took me like 3 months of playing it every day to beat him. I'm quite surprised I didn't kill something.

Though the Water Temple never made me angry (Seriously, it's not that hard. Use your map and compass!), getting Epona back does frustrate me a bit.
Actually, anything involving Epona frustrates me. Glitchy horse!

I've turned from abusing my gaming stuff a long time ago. (not once since I was 10.)
Another thing I hate doing is finding that lady's dog. But at least there's something to do. Most buildings in OoT are utterly useless. Same thing with most of the people and shops. There's almost no point to them.
Also, why can't I unfreeze Zora's Domain? I thought Shiek said it was going to return to normal! SHE LIES! Without water, it becomes an even more useless place.

I got a new controller on Friday and I'm already up to the forest temple. :)

EDIT: Another thing that was really annoying was Jabu-Jabu's belly. Mostly because the annoying boss, and the mini-boss (at least I think it is one), the big octorok, because you had to time your boomerang attack just right to hit him, then go crazy with sword swipes. :P

Anyways back to the topic, I"ve really never had a problem on PH and I"m only in woodfall temple on MM so I really only have stuff to say about OoT.Phantom Ganon made me Go outside and scream, I went outside, barefoot, and screamed, it was also the winter, same thing with bongo bongo. As soon as I knew it my Feet felt frostbitten(which is a releif they weren't).

Probably the worst rage that i got in OoT was during the Water Temple and the time when it took me a while to find a specific key and then had used it on the wrong door.
It was times like that i had wished to use an walkthrough.

really the only time for me was the last battle with ganon. He wasnt all that difficult, it was the damage he gave. Anyway, The first time i battled him, i almost killed him, i just didnt know i had to hit him with the Master Sword. So im swinging away with the Biggoron Sword and nothing is happening. All my faries and red potions were used during this battle. Then I died. had to do it all over again, this time with nothing. I died about 5 more times when i finnally fogured it out with the master sword. Probably one morre death, and the controller probably wouldve been in the TV , so im lucky.

by far the water temple. its not like the enemies in the temple are hard and its not that the boss is all that hard just the fact that the whole temple is comprised of doors that all look the same and you never know where your going. after playing it a few times i literally drew a map up and marked certain places so i wouldnt get lost anymore.

In OoT Dodongo's Cavern really got on my nerves. I just couldn't do it! I was so angry that I I tossed my controller out my window down 8 floors. No, I am just kidding, no one is that stupid. What I did was shut it off without saving...Now that was stupid, I lost like 4 hours worth of play:(

^That's sad! I love Dodongo's Cavern :(
Anyways, I have one. Well, let's take a trip to the bottom of Lake Hylia! Water temple!! Yay :( well I do not know what happened but I did something and searched high and low for the key to get in the room where the boss key is and nothing. When I thought I found the key, which took me forever, I got hit by a rolling rock! I threw my controler and shattered the glass cup sitting across the room. My mom walked right in on my controler rage and I got it big time.

The Water Temple discouraged me a little and got very frustrating. I was relieved once completed, however.
The Shadow Temple. I remember there was a key that you had to find with the lens of truth. I couldn't find this key for half a day of playing. I ended up giving up and looking at a walkthrough, shortly after this, kicking myself commenced.

I had some trouble with Phantom Ganon and I always made sure a pillow was close enough to punch.
My brothers go a bit more crazy. My younger brother, especially (by younger, I mean by a year). He'll whip the controller at anything he sees and sometimes even takes the games out of the system and breaks the disk, lol. He gets pretty angry. My older brother just throws his controller.

I'd have to say climbing up the wall in the spirit temple with the moving sections. When I was in between two sections, I didn't like the fact that I had to start over from the bottom again. In terms of the water temple, I could easily get through it on my second save file.

I recently relived this "rage" on my last OoT Master Quest playthrough. ARGH! Even if you barely get Links fingers in the gaps between the sections, you'll be knocked down to the bottom and have to restart. Glaaaah DX

The worst rage...trying to get everything. No matter what I do or what guide I use, I just can't seem to complete the whole collection of things like the skulltulas or all the heart pieces. Getting the Biggoron's Sword. Epona didn't have the best controls of any character you control in the series, and using her was the only possible way, to the extent of my knowledge, to finish the time trials in time to get the Biggoron's Sword.
It took me so long to do everything...it was pretty embarrassing too x(
Needless to say, I raged myself mad that day.

Rages in Zelda games?
Oh, all the time, specially in the older ones seeing as how difficult they are an such, I just couldn't stand to lose so many times at the start of each game and such but after a while that shimmered down. But I remember when I was a child (younger than I am now) I was still living in Puerto Rico and back then I didn't have internet, I didn't have anyway of knowing anything about the games but to play them myself and figure everything out my self. Well, back then I couldn't understand English that well, so when I got to Bongo-Bongo, I would try to read Navi's tip, but I couldn't understand it!
Because I couldn't understand it, I kept losing and that just made me so angry, so quickly, I couldn't take it and I almost broke my entire system and the TV. Mother looked at me in a blank stare and blinked several times before laughing at me which made me even more upset, but yeah...that's my story.
Something similar happened when ever I forst started to try to beat the Running Man in the marathon, but it wasn't as bad as the Bongo-Bongo incident.

I played the Water Temple like two days ago. It was a piece of cake. Seriously. I bet if you went back and played it now, you would totally change your mind on it being hard. There are certain item you get within the dungeon that help, This would be the MAP and COMPASS. Seriously, when you actually use those, it's not hard at all.
I thought Jabu-Jabu's Belly was harder than the Water Temple...It's overrated n00bism that has defiled the Water Temple.
It still remains one of my faves, second to the TP Lakebed Temple.
And since, I'm going through OoT right now, it's more fresh in my mind.
I really only hate the Bottom of the Well. That's about it.
But in my history of gaming, I have NEVER been childish enough to actually break something. That's obsession right there.
This is a toughie, as OoT never really gave me rage. The closest ould be either the Deku Tree (no joke) or the Forest Temple.
The deku tree? Lol, it's a very boring dungeon indeed, but whatever. First time through I wouldn't kill the skutallas (sp?) on the vines; and they'd always knock me off, and I didn't go to the room straight ahead and get the slingshot so it confused me for a bit.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head but I hate being in a room where you're required to have an item that you don't have, such as if you have to blow up a wall and you don't have any bombs left, and can't find anyone that drops them; stuff like that. I've encountered moments like those several times, once in the lost woods where you have to use the slingshot and hit the target, getting a 100 3 times in a row. I couldn't get the 100 and ran out of ammo, stuff like that pisses me off because you have to go back into town and buy some more bullets lol

I think a good majority of this game is pretty easy and if you have any ammount of puzzle solving skills, a lot of this game should give you no trouble.
An exception: The water temple. The really only thing that makes this hard is that you think you've been in this room already in every water height, but a lot of the time you missed one and that's what makes that one small key you're missing such a pain. I always tell myself "No, you've already been here" but then it turns out I actually forgot to check with the water all the way down or something and that's where my key is. Once you've gotten those keys, the rest of the dungeon is a snap.

The water temple, when I couldn't find the next small key in the dungeon. I thought that I had used the key on the wrong door and that I was now at some kind of dead end in the game. I restarted my whole file just to find out that when i got back to the water temple that there was another small key right near the place i freaked out and decided to scrap my game. I can still remember the feeling of anguish and despair as i decided that the fate of hyrule would have to wait.

Hint: If you stand back from the wall a bit and hookshot the top section right at the edge, Link will grab the edge and stand up, you don't have to actually climb the wall... :) Tip for you.

Dude, I felt you there. Only difference is I was about 5 years older than you, and I had played MM before OOT so it was inscribed in my mind that redead could not be killed without light or something, and if they died, they would just get back up.
Okay, for me there were plenty in OOT.(Surprisingly beating the water temple is not one of them.) But the ultimate ones were the Bombchu bombing, that kukoo would move in the way right when my bomchu came, and getting to the room in the Water Temple just before the boss chamber. My controller was broken so that it couldn't go full force forward, so Link couldn't climb steep hills unless I went backwards, and if I went backwards I couldn't see those sliding spikes on the floor. It took me 30 min to climb a hill.
Something my brother shared with me. He was really frustrated when he first beat the Deku Tree. This was his first time playing Zelda at a young age so it was pretty difficult for him. And then after all that hard work, it turns out the Deku Tree died anyway. He's like "Well what was the point of all that! You could have just gave me the stone, instead of having me risk my life!"

I remember getting really frustrated in the Gerudo Fortress trying to find those carpenters. For some reason it took me a really long time to stun the guard patrolling the last carpenter.
Also in the Water Temple (don't get me wrong, I loved that temple, it was just so easy to get lost in), I remember pulling out a block in one of the hallways before getting the map and thus not knowing where that hallway was or what it was for afterwards. I remeber running around in circles trying to find how to get back to that hallway for the longest time.
There was also the Koume and Kotake boss fight. I found it impossible to aim that stupid shield, especially because those two hags never seemed to want to fly in the same general area.
It was probably a good thing that I never play OoT when my parents are home since whenever these things happen, I start screaming at the top of my lungs and randomly cursing and screeching profanities at the screen. My six year old brother likes to watch me play though; he finds my screaming funny, but I don't think it's a good thing that he finds my cursing amusing too...

I think one of my bigger rages was probably against the Shooting Gallery. I've disliked them every since the games went 3-D and started placing an emphasis on them for getting Heart Pieces or Quiver upgrades. Mind you the one in Ocarina isn't anywhere near as bad as the ones in Majora's Mask, but I raged over it none-the-less when I was younger.
Another rage inducing moment was the Fishing, when I just couldn't get the one blasted fish I wanted for nothing, and ended up wasting over an hour on it. Including the one time I spent 10 minutes fighting a single fish.

definitely, shadow temple. i would get like 3 fairies, and still lose to bongo bongo, the problem wasn't losing it was having to go get more fairies via the minuet of forest, to the pond in the sacred grove then going back to the graveyard, throught the whole dungeon to get back to him and lose again. and that was while playing in on the virtual console last summer when I was fourteen. yep thats my sad life for ya

I had this weird controller issue where I couldn't pull back headstones unless I had the camera angled perfectly. Only happened once and I still have no idea why, but needless to say I was aggravated beyond belief. I needed to get the hookshot before I could progress any further.
In terms of general gameplay moments however, it'd have to be Forest Temple. I'd gotten stuck and was convinced that I could somehow enter the door (in that blue room where you have to move the blocks around) that had no visible way of access. I stared it for quite a while and got a massive headache. Now of course, I know that it was only an exit.....
Shadow Temple. Bongo Bongo. Nuff said. I hate it. HATE.

Three Things: Bongo Bongo, Phantom Ganon, and the Water Temple.
Bongo Bongo: Due to the fact that his hands beating on the drum kept me jumping up and down, I could never strike his hands with an arrow. I probably died a good 3-4 times before I actually beat him. This was one of those times where I had to grip my controller and try to keep my stress level low, if that was even possible for me.
Phantom Ganon: as Axle the Beast said, this boss was hard to defeat. Not only was the Forest Temple kind of struggling, but I had no idea what to do when I got to the battle stage with Phantom Ganon. I would always choose the wrong picture to shoot at too. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I dont know. I had troubles with this one.
Water Temple: God only knows why Nintendo makes every Water Temple so very hard. But the one in OoT was just extremely annoying, and not essentially hard. Just the mere fact that you have to take on and off the iron boots so many freaking times. And then raising and lowering the water level was a pain too. Ugh, this one was bad for me. I sometimes lashed out and screamed at the t.v. >.>
