Which is better: The Grappling Hook, or the Hookshot.
The hookshot is a classical Zelda item, making its debut in ALttP. It has evolved over the span of the games from the basic hook and spring combo to something very awesome like in Twilight Princess.
The Grappling Hook is a fairly new item. It made its debut in TWW, and it was also in PH. With it you could swing across chasms (in TWW) and you could make it a tight rope and walk over it, and you could even shoot your arrows off it (in PH)!!!
My vote goes to the Hookshot though. It has been around since ALttP, and since then it has been modifyed a lot, making it even more awesome.
Hookshot > Grappling Hook
What about you guys?

grappling hook, it is much cooler to swing yourself or climb to certain places then pull yourself. but then again hookshot is more better for weapon use.

I loved the original hookshot from a Link to the Past, but that is just for nostalgia purposes. The grappling hook in Phantom Hourglass was a lot of fun to use.
Personally, my favorite isn't even listed though. The Switch Hook from Oracle of Sages. Basically act as a hookshot, but it switched blocks. Added a whole new element of puzzle solving when they added this.

I loved the Switch Hook too.
Anyway, I personally like the hookshot. The grappling hook I could just never get used to.

Oh I forgot all about that one >.<
Its pretty much a Hookshot though, like the Claw Shots.

Well, with the switch hook all you could do was switch positions with certain objects and enemies. So really it wasn't anything like the others.

Ah, I get what you're saying. Like when you fight the Patra boss and all that ;)
Anyway, I liked what the Hookshot in TWW looked like, lol. And the Double Clawshots were epic.

You also forgot the double clawshot from TP. But I would say either the Longshot from OoT or Hookshot from ALttP.
And LegendZ, the grappling hook is nothing like the hookshot.

The grappling hook from PH was a lot of fun to use, to launch yourself around with and all that, while the hookshot was cool too, because you could use it as more of a weapon sometimes. I'd have to say both.

I go for Hookshot. Haven't played PH yet, but in TWW was it just too damn obvious where you should use the Grappling Hook, just that horizontal branch in the middle of a room. Hookshot have more variation of uses on, so you must look for more things to hookshot on. And, hookshot is just that classic Zelda-item... nothing wrong with new things, but... well... yeah...

I would say Hookshot. I think its better in so many ways if it was a battle between Grappling Hook and Hookshot the win would go to Hookshot. Hookshot you dont really need much energy you point and shoot done but Grappling Hook you gotta be seriously good at throwing things and aiming lol and Hookshot would hurt a lot if you were hit by it because its got a sharp end. The Grappling Hook is basicly just used for getting over edges so less use to it but its still alright.

Personally, I prefer the grappling hook, but the double hookshot was a very close second. For me, the grappling hook was something different, and not repeated like most weapons in Zelda (although I like how they are consistantly re-used, but still..gets a little annoying after a while.)

The double hookshot, to me, was just a Spider-Man rip off. The hookshot is cool but they didn't need to revamp it and give it two grapples for any improvement. It was fine the way it was.

I totally agree with that Spider-Man rip off

Yes I think you should have obtained the two clawshots at Lakebed Temple...almost like they got lazy an didn't want to make another item/weapon. I mean come on now, go to the Palace in the Sky just for another Clawshot? You would think it would have been a much more 'epic' item. Like maybe another shield? They really slacked when it came to shields in TP...

Hmm yea i think it should of just been set at 1 Hookshot and in the Sky Palace should of been something different. True i think they should of added some wicked shield in hehe :D

What about the Clawshot? You could use one Clawshot to reach one place and then hang there while you used the other Clawshot to reach another place which was cool.

I agree. The double clawshot takes this alone.

The Clawshot was cool yes, but this is between the Hookshot and Grappling Hook.
The Hookshot is an item included in a lot of Zelda Games. ALttP, OoT, MM, etc, but the Grappling Hook is only in Wind Waker. It's a highly unique thing, and let you do some pretty neat stuff too. I particularly liked using the Grappling Hook to steal items from enemies.

Couldn't you do that with the clawshot? I thought that was brought in to TP.
I'm going to have to go with DarkLink and Inflexus on this and go with the double clawshot. I loved using it.
Using just one afterwards (in other files) ended up being a pain, cause I couldn't go from target to target.
