I beat the Snowpeak Ruins for the first time last weekend. I'd have to say, a mansion setting was quite different for a Zelda title.
I loved how the Ball & Chain Trooper finally made a 3d appearance in Zelda game. Was excited when I saw he made a return in the Minish Cap, but actually seeing him in 3d was great. You get to keep his weapon too!!!
Personally, I think the ball & chain is just weird. Link can barely walk while he has it out, yet he puts it 'away' and all of a sudden he is just walking quickly again. Where did it go? Classic Zelda at its finest here.
It is an interesting item and it is quite powerful. I haven't beaten the game just yet, but I hope it comes into use some more as the game progresses. Still lovin in though.

Ball and Chain was the item that surprised me the most...I wasn't even expecting it when I first played TP.
I'm glad they brought back the enemy too :p

Yes, the Ball and Chain is a pretty cool addition to Link's ever growing inventory. It can make a good substitute to the bow or slingshot if you're within range. I can imagine how much cooler the controls for this could have been if Twilight Princess was a Wii exclusive. I can picture myself now, swinging the remote around, and releasing it... into the TV...

yeah ball & chain is cool and at least its a new item that you could use as a weapon.
when i first got it i was quite suprised that link would use the ball & chain for a change, because in some zelda games the enemies were the ones using a ball & chain.

I've just settled with assuming that he puts everything in that little pouch on his belt.

Although I haven't personally played this part of TP, I have seen screenshots and I can say I was impressed. It's the best feeling to see older enemies re-made into newer Zelda titles. The nostalgia is just intense - seeing the ball and chain trooper reminded me of A Link to the Past, and even Link's Awakening. It's the same feeling I got when I saw gibdos in Majora's Mask, when I saw the Darknuts in The Wind Waker, and when you see peahats and leevers in Ocarina of Time.
One enemy that is yet to make a 3D appearence (to the best of my knowledge) is the Lynel. I'd like to see the Lynel reappear in another Zelda game, whether it be a handheld or 3d, or even an obscure throw-off game such as Link's Crossbow Training, it would still bring the same nostalgic feel that we all love.

I think that the B&C is one of the coolest items. About the bag, I think link has one of those bottomless/weightless bags from D&D or something because that is just silly.

Yup, I guess. THe items just 'disappear' into his body. Only to weigh him down when they are equipped.
Does anybody use this as an active weapon on one of the available item slots? Personally, I usually have the Clawshot, Bow&Arrow, Bombs, and then the 4th for whatever dungeon I'm currently in. (Boomerang, Iron Boots, Spinner, Ball&Chain, Dominion Rod, etc...)
One thing that I find just a tad annoying with the Ball & Chain is the speed. It slows Link down and takes a few seconds to spin and throw it. Then takes time to recoil it back. Just a tiny thing, but something I find annoything nonetheless.

left = clawshot
right = iron boots
below = gale boomerang
B = bow and arrow
this is always my standard equiped items. the iron boot slot is the slot for the most used item in dungeons.

I really loved how the Ball and Chain was in TP. You can use it for smashing the ice and it's also a nice substitution for bombs when you're out on the ground. As instead of putting a bomb down, you can smash the rock with the ball and chain. I loved how it was used so much too. I loved the Ball and Chain. Twilight Princess made a good effort in not wasting the use of your equippable items. You use the items you get in a few dungeons afterwards. I simply loved the Ball and Chain. I don't use it against enemies too much though simply because it takes so long to attack with it.

The ball and chain was one of my favorite weapons. It was one of the few things I tried on the Iron Knuckle that worked. Lol, I do admit, it's weird how it's only heavy in his hands but not in his pocket.

The Ball and Chain was a nice little suprise I found while playing my way through Twilight Princess. Its a pretty versitile weapon from being able to break ice to kill flying enemies. I was really glad it made its appearance in this game along with the Trooper as he was one of the classic enemies I loved.

My story with the ball and chain is; After I beat the guy that had the ball and chain, he dropped it on the ground and disappeared. So then the ball and chain was sitting there. I mentioned to my sister, "That would be so cool if I could have that." And what happens? I walk over and nab it. Needless to say, I was psyched.

I thought the Ball & Chain trooper was pretty darn difficult as well. I think I died more times when fighting him than any other part in the entire game. (Think I died 4 times against him).
Nonetheless, given that I run a website so I'm constantly exposed to anything going on within the Zelda series I already knew that the Ball & Chain was an enemy in the game. However, they way you get it, (it just sitting there on the ground), is a bit different and would have been really unexpected if I hadn't known before hand that you got the Ball & Chain.

The Ball & Chain was indeed a unique item. I thought it was cool that you got to keep it as well. The trooper himself was fairly difficult the first time around, but the second time through (I was beating it with only 3 hearts) I didn't get hit. I learned a couple of tricks to avoid getting him by him :p.
I always assumed he kept things in that pouch as well. After watching the cartoons and seeing that the items seemed to shrink and fit in the pouch, I just assumed everything was put in there.

The ball and chain was an awesome item, and it was completely new to the series (I think) and it was a handy item. I always thought that Link must have magical pockets with infinite room or something, as he just puts the item he's carrying somewhere in his Tunic. Also, his pockets must counteract gravity. Strange. Wish I had pockets like that. Also, the Ball and chain trooper was the hardest mini-boss, and even harder than some of the Bosses. I kinda liked fighting him though, since he was pretty darn difficult.

I <3 the Ball and Chain.
Now all Link needs is an Ironknuckle's Axe. Make it happen Shiggy!
I actually hated the ball and chain. It was fun to use in a couple of areas, but other than that I wasn't a fan. It weighs Link down too much, and I find it annoying to use.

This was extremely annoying. I hated that it made you so slow. You couldn't really use it, walk a little, and use it again. Every time you used it, you almost had to put it away. Even using the item was really slow. Since you had to spin the whole thing and then toss it.
I still love the item, great addition, but it would have been better if it was more useful outside the dungeon and if it was just a tad faster all around.

The exact same thing happened on my first time. Weird...
I loved the Ball and Chain. It's slow, but still really fun to use.
Now come on guys . We have to be at least a little bit realistic here. The Ball and Chain has to weigh something, it is a realistic game. But of course they still don't account for the other 20 things he's supposed to be carrying. Ah the Classic Zelda.
I liked it. It was definitely a new item that most wouldn't expect, and was effective. My only hope is that if they ever bring it back, they let me take it and whack it and Ganon/Ganondorf's head.

It's a pretty cool weapon but a little unreliable at times for when you want a powerful, yet, fast attack. While no items in Zelda are like that, it takes a second for the Ball and Chain to charge before release.
But I still like it.
