View Full Version : How many times have you beaten each game?

Ever since I beat my first Zelda game, I kept track of how many times I've completed them. The list goes as follows...

LoZ - 21 (2nd quest - 6)*
AoL - 14 (2nd quest - 2)
LttP - 17*
LA - 3
OoT - 4*
MM - 2*
OoS - 1
OoA - 1
WW - 5*
MC - 3
TP - 0
PH - 4*

Others:

Four Swords - 1
Four Swords Adventures - 0
Crossbow - 0

* = done on minimalist/3 heart challenge. Of course some games force you to pick up the hearts (LttP/LA) but you can still avoid other items in the games.

I'm not lying about any of these. I know most people beat a game once, then set it aside forever. Maybe they'll play it once or twice sometime again, but for the most part they've had enough. Not me - I like replaying Zelda games - especially the classics (1, 2, and 3).

I have no (and no desire to) experience with the CD-I games.

I'm going to seem like a n00b here for saying this, but I have an explanation:
LoZ - 1/2
AoL - 0
LttP - 2

When it comes to Zelda games, or any game really, I don't try to speed through the games. I do every possible sidequest, mini game, and search every nook and cranny for secrets, and I take alot of time to just enjoy the games instead of just trying to beat it. That's why I've only beaten them a couple times, if less on some.

The problem with this thread, is that I play games so much, but rarely beat them. Then sometimes I just beat the final boss over and over.

The most though is definately A Link to the Past. Have to have beaten that at least a dozen times or so over the years.

The original Legend of Zelda. I've played it 100's of times, but I think I've only gotten through the whole thing about five times.

Adventure of Link - 2 times

Every other game, I've started numerous records, but only have beaten them completely once or twice.

You people count?

I have no idea how many times I completed each game! I always play for max items and zero deaths (except Zelda II, where I skip the zero deaths part).

I'd estimate about 30 for Zelda 1, 10 for LTTP, and only a smattering in everything else that I've played.

Yeah - the same goes for me. I can't stand beating a Zelda game without getting everything 100% complete. That usually goes for every game. Usually it goes like this: I beat the game about 95%, then let it go for a month or two, then I go back and start all over again, but beat it 100%. After that I'll just play through it experimenting. Trying to beat it with 3 hearts, no deaths, etc.

The first time through a Zelda game I'll go through it fairly fast and then the next time after I've gotten used to the surroundings and things then I go more slowly and try to complete everything.

I've 100%-ed MM once and OOT twice and AlttP once but thats all. If you want to know how many times I've simply played through each game.... I'll try to be acurate.

its not like i skip the sidequest or something, every zelda game and every account i completed it 100%, reason that i play it over again is there isn 't much to do after you beat it.

of course on your first time playing a new zelda game you want to complete it 100%
if you play it over again you know almost everthing where the "piece of hearth" locations are or you know the temples a lot better.

Mases
02-07-2008, 11:58 AM
LCT = Link's Crossbow Training, the newest side game for the Nintendo Wii. It was released along with the Wii Zapper. It uses the Twilight Princess graphics set. Not really a Zelda adventure game like we are used to, but just something to use the Wii Zapper.

Pretty much what Mases said above. Its not an actual Zelda game, but its still worth playing.

If I were to get a Wii and I didn't get a Zapper, LCT isn't a Zelda game I'd search for. Just doesn't seem entirely worth it, but hey, it comes with the Zapper.

To my standards, I've only beaten the Legend of Zelda, The Minish Cap, and Phantom Hourglass. I don't like little things incomplete, at all. Whether that means fusing all the kinstones or doing second quests - it is not won until everything is done.

Perfectionist, what can I say?

I've actually only beaten about half of the Zelda series to date. I haven't really comitted myself to completing all of them, even though I own most of the games (excluding Four Swords, Four Swords Adventures, Phantom Hourglass, and the Oracle games.) Maybe I should start from LoZ and work my way to TP... that would be fun, and I could see how long it could take me. Maybe a month... I know it seems long to you guys, but like Lenora Dragon, I'm obsessed with getting every single item. Usually I beat the game once, then beat it a second time with a walkthrough to get everything I can out of the game. Anyway, here's the list of games I've beaten.

LoZ - 2
AoL - 0
ALttP - 1
LA - 0
OoT - 2
MM - 1
OoA/S - 0
TWW - 2
FS - 0
FSA - 0

Now you hardcore Zelda fanatics are probably laughing at me right now, and I would be too if I completed LoZ 20+ times. But to me, I think that even owning most of the Zelda series is an accomplishment of it's own. Don't you?

No no, I'm certainly not laughing at you. Younger generations of Zelda fans is a good thing, not something to laugh at them about. That's pretty rude, I mean, wasn't everyone at the same step at some point? I think beating any Zelda game is a nice accomplishment. Of course beating every game, and beating them all more than once is pretty impressive, and so is 20+ on a single game, but I would never compare someone new to the series with a veteran of the series, it's simply unfair. Anyone who even remotely likes The Legend of Zelda, is (for the most part) someone I approach with kindness. Where I live there are a ton of Zelda bashers, saying that Zelda is stupid and such, and that other adventure games are much better. They would compare things like Final Fantasy 7 to Adventure of Link and expect Zelda to be better, not knowing that Zelda paved the road for many many other adventure games.

Good job :D

And like you said, playing from LoZ to TP all over again. I love doing that. Sometimes I re-play them over again in a different order to see if anything feels better (storyline-wise), and sometimes I'll just play them for fun. I would recommend you pick up a used copy of the games you don't own, and maybe some accessories from www.amazon.com.

Or even better yet, download an emulator. Emulators are very useful tools for later generations of the series, while it's hard to find the older games to buy.

A link to the past - 3-5 times
Ocarina of Time - 3 times
Majora's Mask - 2 times
Windwaker - 1 time

I tend to stop playing right before the final dungeon so I can get all the goodies and secrets, then I get tired because I don't find any secrets then I eat candy and forget about the game instead, so I've almost beat the others.

I'm still working on playing every zelda game...

LOZ: 1
AoL: 1 (really want to play this one again soon though)
ALttP: 1
LA: 0* (I've started it, but I haven't really played it since May. My EarthBound/Mother obsession took over)
OoT: 1* (Started a second game, I got to Ganondorf, but I had to give the game back)
MM: 1* (same as above, but I got to about getting the Zora mask)
OoA: 0
OoS: 0 <^ They're next
TWW: 2* (I have a game I started in the 2nd quest but never finished)
FS/FSA: 0
MC: 1*
TP: 4-6 times, I forget the exact number (also my first zelda game ever)
PH: 4* (I dunno why but I can't seem to finish my games past Mutoh's Temple)

* = I've started another game past that (like 3* means I beat it three times and I started a fourth game but never finished)

I'm as much of a 1-time video game person as I am a 1-time book reading person. (I'm reading Twilight for about the 5th time since last year...)
