Has playing the Legend of Zelda ever made you scared at any point? Whether it being a cutscene or just looking at the land or a boss for the first time. What was your personal scariest Zelda memory.
For me, it was at the end of the Light World in A Link to the Past. I was still a little kid back then, ignorant to what really was the Zelda series.
When Aghanim was telephatically lifting Princess Zelda in the air, and then shot her with a bolt of power and all of a sudden she vanquised into the Dark Wold. I was like, WHAT DID YOU DO! Was freaky at the time. Then after defeating Aghanim, when the land warped to the Dark World, was also rather freaky. I had no idea a dark world even existed. I actually thought the entire game was beating three dungeons, getting the mastersword and finishing off Aghanim. Man was I wrong.
That was my scariest Zelda experience. What about you guys?

Can't say I've ever been frightened by a Zelda game before.
Daggerfall sent a few chills up my spine though. Like the first night in Daggerfall City, when King Licandis' ghost first cries "Vengeance!", and I had the speakers up a little high. Wasn't expecting that!

I can't remember the first time, but one specific time that made me tense up and become shocked was probably when Vaati had changed forms. I got used to "Okay, so he is Minish and turned evil... two forms." Then all of the sudden in the end I am overjoyed that I finally defeated the evil of Vaati! - Think again, a new form?! So I get over that, and eventually kill that form. I am incredible! - Oh, not quite yet.
So by the time of the last form killed, I was all nervous that I'd face +10 other forms, but luckily that was the end of it. :)

my first time when i was a kid and my first time in shadow temple. the temple itself already gave me the creeps back then. and then suddenly for the first time a wallmaster grabbed me. i was like "WTF where did that come from"because it was unexpected for me. back then my english sucked and i did not understood the text 100%. and when navi said "watch out for the hanging shadows from the ceiling" i only understood the wordt "shadow back then.
and now the shadow temple is my fave temple, sometimes i laugh about myself thinking back when i was a kid and i was scared about the shadow temple.

I've never really been scared by Zelda games, but on MM, my little brother and sister always get scared at the point where the Majora's Mask is lifting up the skull kid's body and swaying it around and saying how worthless he is. Scares 'em every time and I don't know why. Also, when the eyes on the moon light up and it has that freaky sound effect, that scares 'em too.

Okay, I got scared the first time I ever played oot. My older brother's friend let him borrow it, and there was a save slot I was allowed to play. So I get on and walk out of Kokiri Forest and little did I know it was night and freakin Stalfos kids spawn from the ground! I was already afraid of zombies n' stuff so I ran out screaming. I was unable to play OOT until about 2 years after that. Please note that this was when it had first come out and I was like 8 at the time. I still don't like going into the sun song grave or doing the shadow temple. But Bongo Bongo is fun.

GANONDORF'S MULLET. j/k
The Re-deads and Gibdos really creeped me out the most. Especially when the Re-deads screamed and all the sudden you froze. The skulltullas kind of creeped me out sometimes when they dropped down in front of you in the Great Deku Tree.

Lol, that reminds me of something, my older sister tottaly hates spiders, when she decided to play OOT and later encouter a big skulltulla inside the deku tree, she screamed like crazy.

THe cutscene after Link defeats Arbitor's Grounds in Twilight Princess is pretty scary.
Where Ganondorf breaks free for a second and attacks one of the people, but then it later sealed away. Seemed to surreal and intense, was well done and a bit creepy.

Has to be the re-deads freezing Link. Gave me the shivers way back in '98. Lights off, playing from my bed in the dark when everyone else was sleeping. Brr!

I really cant say anything from the zelda series is even slightly scary. But weird or twisted scenes...yea esp. in Majoras Mask. For instance, at the end of the third day go to the Inn to find Kafei there pretty much just waiting for death.

Scariest moment was definitely in OoT, the first time I entered the town square after the seven years thing. Oooh...
"Holy crap! Everyone is dead and turned into zombies! Aaaaah!"
"RAAARGH"
"Oh, and me too. Great."
This was before I found out that redeads weren't actually zombies.
Also, did anyone get creeped out by the weird guy in OoT that said everyone will one day turn into a Stalfos? I didn't so much, because I didn't really know what a Stalfos was then, but it still got under my skin anyway...

Deffinitly the darn Stalfos, Wallmasters, floor masters 9espeacially since they'd split and keap regenerating) as well as the first time i went to get the sun song... no clue what i'm doing, but all i know is i felt like i could wet my pants. Since then I've played games like Silent Hill and others of that nature, doesnt scare me now :)

I used to be afraid of the Forest Temple in OoT. I got over the fear until I fought redeads after the water temple. They scared the crap out of me so I became afraid of dungeons again. XD I spent about...2.6 years being afraid of dungeons. Majora's Mask, I was afraid of the dark because every time I entered a dark room, I would die almost immediatly. Now I find those fears hilarious.
I used to be afraid of the Forest Temple in OoT. Oh, that temple still freaks me out more than any of ther others. It's the music and the atmosphere that gets to me. Plus, I actually find it one of the harder temples.

The only thing that scared me when I was younger was the mini boss Dead Hand. Just something about the intense music and the white thing moving towards me, opening its mouth.

First time I played Wind Waker and before I faced Puppet Ganon I got freaked. The whole "Your gods destroyed you!" line in huge text, shocking music and pre-final boss tension gave me a good old jump. Then Ganondorf's (fake) transformation spooked me too.

Zelda scenes aren't scary or even creepy. Odd sometimes, yes but not scary or creepy. Nothing ever scarred me. However, if i was like 5/6 some things might have just creeped me out.

yeah the redeads from OOT once you exit the Temple of time scarred me when I first played... (I was 8).
I did jump a few times while sneaking around in the TWW and also from the mummys in the same game.
I also got kinda scarred from the perverse looking moon in MM. I mean it looks like a child rapist face lol.

I also got freaked out on Zant's Hand in TP. Even now that scares me, ZI get tensed up and I'm like "Oh no, he's gonna fall on me!!" When my cousin got it, I came over to help him with it (because he didn't understand it at first and I had beaten my own like 6 times.). When we reached Zant's Hand, I got tensed up again and all he said was "It's just a stupid hand!"

I really don't think anything in Twilight Princess was overly scary. The Ganondorf killing a sage was creepy and the Dark Link scene was incredibly creepy. Even Zant was a bit scary.
However, I think it didn't have the shock scare that the redeads in Ocarina of Time. You never were like, "Ah, oh my goodness". In Twilight Princess, the game was much darker in mood set, but not necessarily scarier.

Bieng startled is not the same as being scare.... but americans use it interchangably.... Creepy and scary have a much more simaller defenition.

let me put it this way- the first time I heard an OoT/MM redead scream, I jumped. Like, literally, I was like "holy S***!" It was in the royal family's grave, in the future. I had to leave. I couldn't deal with them. Now, I just wear the gibdo mask. Unless it's OoT and not MM. Then I'm screwed.
But yeah, if you're playing Windwaker they aren't as terrifying. But everything was more convincing in OoT, before gamecube came along and let them make things cartoony.

I'd say that yes, the Redeads in OoT were really freaky the first time I saw them. I mean, now I'm used to them, so their no big deal, but the Shadow temple and the under the well dungeons still make me nervous, especially because I get some bad glares on my TV and can't always see well when it's dark in OoT. I also think that the Redeads in TP weren't freaky at all for some reason, maybe partly because they don't jump on Link and start biting him.

The scariest thing for me is I turned on my game and my file was gone! I paniced until I found out the one I was trying to play was my cousin's and Mine was in the drawer.
but seroiusly,
I think the re-deads were freaky, and the dead hand scared me too (but hey I was only eight!)

In TP when the spirit is telling link about the triforce and stuff and link's pupils go away. O_o oh but the twili are kinda scary too....
Edit: OH yeah! those white zombie things under the well. with the all those hands....and the big teeth... AHHH!
With playing OoT first when I was about 9, I would have to go with things from that. The two main things that creeped me out were the ReDead's and the Bottom of the Well. O.O

Thats funny cuz for me when I was little and we had just got the N64 and LoZ OoT; we all watched my big bro play it.
Sure we all understood English but.......we were all freaked out when it came the the shadow temple. My bro didn't expect the wallmaster at all even though navi warned him. Because he didn't understand what she meant. So we all screamed and were like WTH too.
Then when I played the game for the first time the shadow temple still freaked me out. Now not so much. But I just think its funny how close our stories are.

I think the creepiest place is a certain room near the end of the shadow temple in OoT where there are two wooden beams in and X shape with chains hanging from the ceiling and blood on the floor. El Bagu mentioned it in the "most violent scenes" thread. It's straight up creepy.
I think the creepiest moment is in MM when the girls father at Ikana canyon burst out of the closet and is half Gibdo. It's like a dawn of the dead moment in Zelda
