Toon Link in Brawl?

A few monthes back, (I think as far back as early summer), Nintendo announced that the Twilight Princess incarnation of Link would replace adult Link, and then the cel-shaded Wind Waker / Phantom Hourglass Link would replace young Link. Well, that was a half a year ago, and today we have some confirmation for you all. A clip that is now available on youtube shows 'Toon Link' battling it out with Ganon.

I can make out that Luigi is one of the characters on the select screen, but can't quite figure out some of the other unconfirmed fighters, other than Ganondorf of course. I'd be more interested in this game if I had a Wii. But Toon Link.. hmm, that's a bit odd. Oh well though, I don't really mind at all.

I half expected they would add him, although I couldn't imagine how they could make him much different from the two current Links in Smash Bros. His movesets do look quite different though, especially his "spin attack" side smash. Good stuff.

yay, i tought it was just a rumor that cell chaded link would replace young link, but this is awsome.

i see marth is also back, well at least i like marth better then roy.
i was thinkinking mr game&watch would be gone.

2 bad i don 't see mewtwo but at least lucario is a playble charcter.

I was wondering to myself, "Why call him Toon Link? Why not just call him WW link?" but that form of animation was in more than just WW, like in PH. So is his Super Smash Attack, or whatever it's called, the same as Link's?

The roster in the video was incomplete, missing Jigglypuff and Wolf. I don't believe we've seen Toon Link's Final Smash yet. Brawl is putting franchises in the game vertically, instead of horizontally like Melee; that's why some characters in the roster in the video were not next to others of their franchise. When you unlock every character, they are all alligned.

EDIT: Toon Link's Final Smash is now confirmed to be the Triforce Slash.

Snake and Sonic are unlockable? That's new. I figured they'd be available right away,since they're already announced.

I notice they're pushing R.O.B a lot lately. He was even in Mario Kart DS, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Mario Kart Wii. I wonder if they're looking for some kind of revival.

Toon Link will be a nice addition. Maybe they'll call him "Hero of Winds Link" for the Region 1 version.

i don 't think toon links final smash is the same as link.
i hope ganondorf is not again a clone character. falco is a clone character but wolf is not a clone character. but wolfs final smash is also the same as fox. well there may be a little differences but still a red landmaster?

luckly marth and ike is not clone characters like marth and roy in melee. the basic moves are even different from each other. marths final smash looks like its his "critical hit" move.

It looks like they changed all the "clone" characters up a little bit. Mario's Down Special is the squirty thing now, and even if Luigi has the thing from Luigi's Mansion, it'd still have the opposite effect.

We've seen movies of Link fighting on the Smash Bros website and he looks the same, but Toon Link fights a little differently (different regular smash attacks, faster Downward Thrust, etc.) it looks like all the "clone characters" are slightly more different this time around.

I wouldnt say replace or even go by those confirmed unlocked characters, since there are more...It was said about 5 different versions of Link will be available, here are the confirmed ones : TP link, cel shaded Link, and Dark link...two left.

i agree the style of both links are different makes it more fun. but they made toon link not cell shaded anymore if you notices.

It's a good thing they didn't keep him cel-shaded or it would totally clash with the rest of the game. I seen a screenshot with Jesus and *** as characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I know it's fake but still pretty fun to think about. :P

This is old news. Ever since the major Brawl leakage and a screenshot of the starting roster and a vs. battle I've known this. It showed all of the characters. Not to mention that the leakage on the game is to the max.

Anyone that doesnt know about the original clothing/tunics is well...not a "true" fan sort to speak. But Im a very glad to see this, not so much it being Toon Link having ALttP style, say for instance if Adult TP Link did...

That's kind of what I was thinking. It would look better on TP Link, not Toon Link. Also, Toon Link looks kind of odd with the Dark Link form.

Well, it wasn't necessarily Wind Waker link in Four Swords Adventures, but it was the same sort of "Toon link" design that they were using at the time. And Shadow Link was in that one, so maybe it's not that far off.

Not sure what to think about the ALttP style, though. Maybe I'll just wait until I get the game to decide.

I imagine that the A Link to the Past clothing might look a little funny on Toon Link. Never heard of the Dark Link form being in it. But of course, we're going to be able to get about all of the information possible on it since it is released in Japan.

Toon Link's Dark Link costume tends to scare me. I can't wait for this game. I agree that the LttP costume would have looked much better on TP Link. When I look at LttP Toon Link, I don't think of LttP. I probably would if it was on TP Link however.

I can't really see either TP Link or Toon Link with it on. It just seems a bit weird whenever I picture it. Though it is Sakurai's choice, not mine.

Four Swords Adventures is a spin off, no need to think how it ties in with other games.

It tries to tie itself in with other games. How far it succeeds is a matter of opinion.

Smash Bros., for that matter, doesn't tie in at all with any other game.
