Zelda III

Ok, it is proven that Zelda 3 (aka ALttP) was being developed for the NES before being ported to the SNES. Now exact details about this game's development is known slim to none. Although these guys (http://ratedo.com/) seem tot think otherwise. They claim they in fact own the beta cartridge of Zelda III for the NES, although they have yet to fullfill their promises on releasing info and media for the game (http://www.ratedo.com/zelda/).

What do you guys think about this game that never saw the light of day...?

Edit : Here's some fake screenshots of the game. Even though there is speculation that the game did in fact look very similar to the screens below.

It looks good for a NES game, at least those fake screenshots do. Quite intense graphically and I'd imagine there would be quite a bit of laggage.

I like how it has a mixture of Legend of Zelda & Adventure of Link, graphically. Haha, I guess the guy who made those screeshots would have liked to seen the return of 'Error'.

That site seems to give out extremely little information about the game. Looking back at their update history, it looks like they were planning on releasing a section for the game but never got around to doing it. I can't imagine much of anything being available for the game that hasn't been released just yet.

I think that for sure a 3rd Zelda game was being thought up for the NES and maybe even started the creation process. Not sure how much of 'A Link to the Past' was actually done on the NES, but my guess would be not much at all.

Actually a lot was done, that third game had the master sword...you had to collect the sowrds shards and restore it..kinda like TWW. graphically wise tho, no not nearly completed. Storyline wise tho, I believe it was.

It is certain. Now something that would be rumor, but almost certain is that Zelda 64 (OoT) was being developed on the SNES before the release of the N64.

The fact that one of the characters names is 'Error', from Adventure of Link, makes me think the game is illgetimate. I can't imagine they bring back him. His name was a mistranslation anyway, hehe.

Besides, any game at this stage of developtment would most definately not be in English, but still Japanese. That's how they were made back then rather than now when they are made at relatively the same time.

Has a short time-line of what exactly happened with this item in an ebay auction. A decent read for fans of the classics. In another article I read that the original auctioneer was so certain that it was authentic that he offered a full refund of the person found out it wasn't. Judge it for yourself.

Mases those screens are fake, read my post, it was only an example of what it may look like. And rated o wasn't selling nor buying that item. Oh and I dont think his name was a mistranslation, yea it could have been Errol or something, but oh well.

Yeah...I read an article somewhere about it. It was called Zelda 3: Something gold something(the somethings are words I forgot)
I'll try and find where I read about it at.

I would love to play Zelda 3 on the NES. It looks like it would be a fun experience, since I grew up on LttP.

the game does look good. Really good graphics for the nes. I just don't think it would be even close to as good as alttp. From those screen shots the game looks like it would be side scrolling again which is good, but i prefer bird's eye view like others.

The screenshots are fake, and it wouldn't be a side scroller anyways...more like the gameplay in the game Crystalis.
