How come we only got the 2nd Quest Cheat on Legend of Zelda (NES) and not with other games in the series?

Because there wasn't a second quest on any other game but Wind Waker. And that one didn't really have any differences other than your pimpin' lobster shirt and suddenly understanding the language of the Gods.

I tend to consider the Master Quest that was released on the gamecube to be the second quest for Ocarina of Time.

If you think about, it is quite the same as the LoZ second quest/master quest. Same overworld, just the dungeons are completely re-arranged.

Second Quests are the best way for replay value for Zelda titles. Since unlike other genres, Zelda, once you beat it, has limited replay value. Unless you are a hardcore can and have to get a 100% game, there really isn't much reason to play through again. A second quest does give you a reason to play through again since there are usually drastic changes.

Personally, I'd rather they just expand on a main quest rather than and a second quest.

There was a second quest on Adventure of Link. Master Quest was in fact a 2nd quest for OoT. And TWW had a second quest...im sure theres others I missed.

A Link to the Past has a Second Quest I believe.

Avenged is right, at least to the extent of my knowledge.

LoZ had the second quest, and AoL did as well. Master Quest was the second quest for OoT, just gave it a fancier name. Wind Waker had one technically, but the only difference was you could read the Hylian the Gods spoke, and you were still in you regular clothes.

And Alpha, Link to the Past didn't have a second quest, trust me ;)

Actually if you count the Zelda BS it did. And in this case LoZ had a third quest. But no, it did not have one in the regular game. You can maybe count Four Swords linked to AlttP has another quest since you can find the secret dungeon in the revamped version of AlttP after beating both linked games.

I didn't know, since the game let me play again when I started my first save file.

I know this may be stretching it a bit but I sort of consider Link's Awakening DX to be a second quest of Link's Awakening. Of course when I say this I am only talking about the color dungeon.

Zelda 2 has a second quest? Wow, I was right? I kept on saying this earlier to a friend, but he told me he was sure it didn't. What is different in the second quest of Zelda 2?

And like Mases said, I'd rather they improve more on the overall game than make room for another second quest. Imagine if there were potions, items to buy, etc, in the second quest? And enemies always gave exp along with the chance of a P-bag, magic jar, or rupees? That would have made the game a lot better in my opinion. Along with giving the characters a longer text box so they don't have to speak like a 4 year old.

The second quest in Zelda II is just going through the game with all the spells and your levels at 8. You still have to beat all 7 palaces and get each of the items, including heart containers and magic jars. It's actually easier than the first quest because of this! It's kinda funny fighting, say, the Palace 1 boss with attack 8 and watching him lose 6 bars at once...

I don't consider the Adventure of Link second quest a second quest at all. One of the requirements in my opinion for a second quest, is that it should be harder than the first... right?

If Link is already fully upgraded, what's the purpose of playing through it again. It's fun to just run around and defeat some of the early parts of the game with a fully upgraded Link. It will be more of a casual experience rather than in the first run through when you are trying hard to progress in the game.

From what I've read, the only difference in Link's Awakening DX, is the color dungeon. Similarly in A Link to the Past, just minimul changes in the gameboy version. I definately don't consider AoL a second quest, and I can see the arguements for LA and ALTTP, but I think those are just more remakes than actual second quests.

Only the original is a true second quest, while MasterQuest was another second quest, but somewhat hard to consider it one since it was not released with OoT on the N64, but taking only the Gamecube version, it is a second quest.

Does anyone remember trying to find the dungeons in LoZ: Second quest? I remember I found each one but had to use a guide to find the 8th. That kind of difficulty, along with being forced to map out every dungeon, is what I miss about classic Zelda games.

Yeah, one thing about the older games is that you had very little to go by when exploring. Not like in games like Minish Cap, where it often feels like the game is telling you everything you have to do.

I also enjoyed the original LoZ and the second quest. I actually used paint on the computer tp draw out each individual room, and then the enemies that were in the room, as well as any secret switches (even though they're usually pretty obvious.)

I like how in the newer games it doesn't leave you at the beginning of the game with no knowledge of the story, unless you read the booklet (LoZ, I read the story to the game after Mases pointed out it had quite a lengthy prologue compared to it's sequels,) but I don't like the game actually telling you what to do, more like giving you hints.

I was dissappointed in the second quest for TWW. I expected something like LoZ or OoT:MQ, but it was nothing at all like it. It was pretty fun reading the Hylian though, don't get me wrong, but it was very, very dissappointing.

Master Quest could be considered a "Second Quest" for Ocarina of Time I guess...But Adventure of Link also had a Second Quest type thing after you beat it (You get to play the game over with full stats or something like that)

I suppose there hasn't been a Second Quest type thing in Zelda games anymore because the games are getting longer and more in-depth, if you know what I mean.

TWW also had a Second Quest type thing...after you beat the game, you can play it again only with Link's regular clothes, lol.
