From The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, we learn about the Sacred Realm, and how Ganon turned it into the Dark World. At the end of Ocarina of Time, it says that Ganon is sent to the Evil Realm. So, is there the Sacred Realm and the Evil Realm, or is the Evil Realm just another name for the "Dark World"?

The last I heard, OoT was supposed to be the same story told in the prologue to LttP, with the seven sages sealing the entrance to the sacred realm, and sealing Ganon inside. So I guess the Evil Realm and the Sacred Realm are the same place. They just called it something different for some reason. Different translators converting the game dialog over from Japanese to English, or something like that, maybe. Or maybe just the Hylian myths getting altered over time in the ages between games.

if i'm not mistaken it goes like this:
alttp: ganon wished for the dark world something about reflecting people 's hearts.
oot: sheik tells you that who he touched the triforce with a pure hearth will lead hyrule to an golden age, and those tainted with darkness (or something like that) will spread darkness and the triforce will be split in 3.
so in oot because ganondorf touched the trifore the sacred realm became sorta "evil" and at the end the sages sealed ganondorf in that evil realm surrounded in darkness.
so i don 't think that dark world and sacred realm are the same thing.

Right, the dark world and Sacred Realm are two completely different places. Opposites, actually. In ALTTP, Ganondorf turned the Sacred Realm or some golden land into the dark world. A reflection world.

Oh, I thought the Dark World was the same Sacred Realm, but gone wrong. In other words, temporarily obscured by Ganon. If anyone can cite sources to what Linkman said I would appreciate it.

It was originally called 'The Golden Land', not Sacred Realm. OoT created the name Sacred Realm (but they are both the same). The Dark World is the Golden Land, but Ganon wished for that Dark World (since he had the full triforce). In OoT, there never was a Dark World since Ganon only had the piece of Power. When Ganondorf was sent to an 'evil realm' in OoT I believe was only the Sacred Realm, but sealed by the sages in there. TP actually confirms this as Ganondorf escaped.
Heres what OoT says about the triforce and what happened during Links time in the sacred realm:
The Master Sword sealed Link away in the Sacred Realm (so he couldnt even get the triforce himself if he tried). That left the portal open for Ganondorf, but once he touched the Triforce, it split into three pieces and only giving Ganondorf the piece that tied in with his personality (power).
It is said he a pure heart tocuhes the triforce, they dreams come tue, in an evil heart touches it, it seperates into 3 pieces corresponding to its rightfull owners. But its not fully sperated for the evil hearted person, if he obtains the other two pieces (courage and wisdom) he would then be the righful owner of the full triforce.
In ALttP, he was able to obtain all three, but in OoT he couldnt. Thats why he lured Link and Zelda together to meet at his castle, to claim the other pieces.
So if you think about it, all events that happened in OoT was in Ganondorfs favor (well until the end ofcourse). He knew Link and Zelda would lead him to the triforce, which they did. Then he knew they would come to him, which they did.

I just wanted to say as part of the ending of OoT stories, first Gannondorf is sealed in the sacred realm. Then Zelda sends link back in time. Link warns everyone about this and Gannondorf is about to be executed when he bursts out of his chains ina burst of rage. The sages tell him about the Twilight Realm, since they can't seal him in the Sacred Realm (he doesn't have the triforce yet). Since Link changed he past, nothing that happened that you actually play through really happened. So unless the evil realm is the Twilight Realm, there is a moderate time rift in the Zelda games. That will eventually grow into a black hole O.o. And now to Twilight Princess.

Something just occurred to me. Consider this:
You're the King of Hyrule, and you have a beautiful young daughter named Zelda. You've got your daily administrative pressures but as far as you know, everything's going well in the kingdom. Until one day, some kid in green that you've never seen before wanders out of the forest and says "Hey, I've just lived though a parallel timeline, where Zelda and I fought a pitched battle with Ganondorf, and when it was all over, Zelda sent me back in time, so that it never actually happened. But Ganondorf is going to betray you, so you'd better lock him up fast so that everything that didn't actually happen doesn't happen all over again."
As King of Hyrule, what's your reaction going to be?
a) "Throw the traitor in the dungeon!"
b) "Ha ha ha! Oh, you kids, and your imagination!"

First off, you have been Gannon-banned. Its GANONdorf. Secondly, dont dig old posts from last year without having a good excuse.
To answer your question Peregrine....most of what happened in OoT did happen in both timelines. The King already knew about Ganondorf and the whole situation in Young Links timeline...Remember when Ganondorf tried to kidnap Zelda when Link was young?...yea doesnt mean it didnt happen just cause Link went ot the future.

Well what if Link went back when Ganondorf was sucking up to the King?
Realistically that is probable...but this is a video game.
And how many times do we have to GANNON-BAN you before you learn the correct spelling?
