Photoshop Contest: Zelda Protagonists as Villains
Posted on September 18 2015 by Rod Lloyd
Welcome back, one and all, to another entry in Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest. For those with the artistic spark or those just looking to have some fun, this competition is for you. This week, we’ll be using our image manipulating tools to turn The Legend of Zelda‘s best heroes into dastardly villains. So if you feel like you’re up to test, head inside for the rules as well as the winners from last week’s contest: Tri Force Heroes Story Predictions.
Last Week’s Contest:
The onslaught of Tri Force Heroes news has not let up over the last few weeks, so we had contestants create their predictions for this cooperative Zelda‘s story.

Nintendo was ever-so-kind as to provide us with tons of new Tri Force Heroes art, and we couldn’t just let that stuff go to waste! So, the challenge last week was include at least five pieces of the recently released artwork within the submission. As well, with the fashion-focus of the game, the entry also needed a big, stylish hat we haven’t seen yet. In a piece titled “When will my reflection show who I am inside,” artist Pryoslim gives us moving stage scene from Tri Force Heroes. Link — donning a cheerleader outfit, mascara, and a Splatoon hat — must battle his identity struggles in the presence of
This Week’s Contest: Zelda Protagonists as Villains
You may remember a few Photoshop Contests from the past that asked contestants to turn certain Zelda heroes into villains, including Link and Ezlo, the Minish Cap. Well, I’m not entirely convinced that we’ve exhausted that well of potential just yet. This is why I am extending the villain-izing tirade to all heroes and protagonists within the Zelda series.
The contest this week is to turn a classic hero or protagonist from the Zelda series into an evil or corrupt villain. These protagonists can span from big names like Link or Zelda, to smaller good guys like Ravio or the King of Red Lions. As always, you’re welcome to use the images provided in our gallery and anything else you find on the internet.
General Rules:
- Submit your entries in the comments section below.
- To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
- Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
- Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
- Have fun and be creative!
Deadline: Submit entries no later than next Wednesday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on September 16. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.
Challenge Mode
For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:
1. The villainized protagonist cannot be Link or Princess Zelda.
2. Your entry must include a Panda.
If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.
Good luck!
