Photoshop Contest: The Adventures of Lizalfos and Deku Scrub
Posted on July 30 2016 by Rod Lloyd
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. What say you to another entry in Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest? Before we begin, I must admit that this week’s theme is going to be a little weird. Somewhat inspired by the release of the Yooka-Laylee Toybox earlier this week, I wanted to frame a contest around an unlikely pair of Zelda characters. After mulling it over, I have decided to focus on a Lizalfos and a Deku Scrub. What adventures would these vastly different beasts have if asked to work together? Show us your ideas, as well as check out the winners of last week’s contest: Rise of the Machines.
Last Week’s Contest:
After a week of technological frustrations, I asked contestants to focus on the Zelda series’ best mechanical characters.

Challenge Mode
Last week’s challenge was to include a few more roboticentities into one’s entry, namely a famous film robot and a mechanical horse. Artist Link584 accepted the challenge and submitted a touching scene of Skyward Sword‘s Fi and Pixar’s Wall-E gazing up at the stars. Fi’s mechanical candor may drive some people up the wall, but she sure can spot the best constellations. High above these lovable robots lays the starred image of an Iron Knuckle riding a mechanical horse, a true astrological marvel. Great job!
This Week’s Contest: The Adventures of Lizalfos and Deku Scrub
Earlier this week, Playtonic Games released the Yooka-Laylee toybox, an early access sandbox for their upcoming platform game. This highly anticipated game features a team of two unlikely heroes, a chameleon and a bat, as they combine their unique strengths to achieve feats they could never do on their own. This release comes hot off the heels of SEGA’s announcements of a new Sonic the Hedgehog title, which will see Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic working together. I bring all this up to say that there seems to be a lot of teaming up among vastly different characters in gaming today, and we’ve got our own unlikely team-up for the contest this week.
The week’s contest is to show a Lizalfos and a Deku Scrub teaming up for some kind of adventure. Like in Yooka-Laylee, we hope to see these two very different characters working together to overcome obstacles they couldn’t overcome alone. A Lizalfos and a Deku Scrub have vastly unique strengths and abilities. In what would they combine their efforts? Use the images in our gallery below to start and move on to anything you find on the net from there.

Good luck!
