Photoshop Contest: Solo Sheik Game
Posted on May 07 2016 by Rod Lloyd
Hey, everyone. I come to you today to introduce yet another entry in Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest! In case you missed it, Monday marked the beginning of a special themed month for our weekly Caption Contest. For the entirety of May, that contest will feature images of a certain Sheikah warrior in what will be known as Sheik Month. But all the Sheik love can’t be isolated to just the Caption Contest, so this week’s Photoshop Contest will give us a chance to pitch ideas for a spinoff Zelda game starring Princess Zelda’s ninja alter-ego. Join us inside, where you’ll also find the winners from last week’s contest: Ladies of the Zelda Universe.
Last Week’s Contest:
Our contest last week gave the spotlight to The Legend of Zelda‘s strong cast of female characters.

Challenge Mode
I narrowly avoided catastrophe with last week’s Challenge Mode, which asked contestants to swap the gender of a male Zelda character. Despite the heavy snark I wrongly tossed around, artist Doug Muell happily accepted the challenge and provided a truly magical entry. Princess Zelda, dressed in the royal garb of Agrabah, takes a gender-swapped Ganondorf on a magic carpet ride across the skies of Hyrule. Clutching the stem of a Deku Baba, Ganondorf gleefully takes in the shining, shimmering splendor and unbelievable sights of a whole new world. Tell me, Ganny, when did you last let your heart decide?
This Week’s Contest: Solo Sheik Game
While looking for images to use for the Caption Contest’s Sheik Month, I quickly realized how underutilized the character Sheik has been since her triumphant debut in Ocarina of Time. Sure, she’s been a fighter in Super Smash Bros. and played a big part in Hyrule Warriors, but we’ve never really seen Princess Zelda again assume the role of a tough Sheikah assassin in the main Zelda series. It’s really a shame; Sheik’s awesome design begs to be used in a standalone game.
This week’s contest is to ‘shop a potential pitch or screenshot from a video game starring Sheik. The powers and athletic abilities of Sheik can lend themselves perfectly to many genres of games. And the mystery and lore of the Sheikah would serve a great focus for a Sheik solo adventure. Please make use of the images in our gallery below for inspiration, and utilize anything else you find on the internet as well.

Challenge Mode
For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a Challenge Rule for you to follow:
1. Your entry must gender swap a female Zelda character.
If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.
Good luck!
