Photoshop Contest: Free Week #2
Posted on June 26 2015 by Rod Lloyd
What’s this? It’s time again for Zelda Informer’s weekly Photoshop Contest! But not just any Photoshop Contest; it’s time for a Free Week! That means we’re opening the floodgates of creativity and allowing you spectacular artists to ‘shop our images in any way you’d like. We’ll of course need to first look at the winners from last week’s contest: Tri Force Heroes Costumes, so let’s get to it.
Last Week’s Contest
During last week’s E3 celebrations, Nintendo unveiled the newest game in the Zelda series, Tri Force Heroes. This cooperative title will include several new features, but one of the most important is the implementation of costumes. In honor of Link’s newfound fashion sense, we tasked artists with brainstorming different costumes for the three-Link team in the game. Let’s just say the results were… interesting.

Challenge Mode
The Challenge Rules for last week were twofold: the entry must include Purple Link (who is unceremoniously absent from Tri Force Heroes) and must utilize three images I provided in our photo gallery. Hylian Ticipated took up the challenge by offering an interesting dungeon setting. The three Links from TFH are occupying a single Ravio costume while they present a Shakespearean monologue to Princess Zelda. Meanwhile, Purple Link and normal Link are doing their own thing. Great job as always!
This Week’s Contest: Free Week #2
Last month, I introduced the Free Week format. Once a month, I will suspend the normal themed contests and let you artists create ‘shops as you so desire. Here’s how it works: I will provide just a few images in the gallery below. As long as at least one of these images is used in your entry in some way, you are free to produce any image you’d like.
This week, I’ve provided pictures of two of my favorite side-characters in the Zelda series: Bucha the Kikwi from Skyward Sword and Beedle from The Wind Waker. I’ve also included a picture of the “Nuppets” from E3’s Nintendo Direct because, let’s face it, I dropped the ball in not including them in last week’s contest.
General Rules:
- Submit your entries in the comments section below.
- To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
- Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
- Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
- Have fun and be creative!
Deadline: Submit entries no later than next Wednesday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on July 1. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.
Challenge Mode
For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:
1. Your entry must include a ninja.
2. Every character in your entry must wear a Link hat.
If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.
Good luck!
