Hello, friends. Another Friday is upon us and another Zelda Informer Photoshop Contest is primed to begin. This particular Friday happens to also be the 13th of the month, a widely-recognized omen for bad luck and misfortune. And when one thinks about omens, bad luck, and misfortune in the context of the Zelda series, the apocalyptic Moon of Majora’s Mask quickly jumps to mind. This week’s contest will ask contestants to make devastating use of this grinning Moon, so head inside to see what’s up and to see the winners of last week’s contest: Solo Sheik Game.

Last Week’s Contest:

Last week, artists were asked to pitch a potential solo spin-off for Ocarina of Time‘s princess-in-disguise, Sheik.

Challenge Mode

I freely admit that last week’s Challenge Mode was a bit flawed (even though it was just a response to the previous week’s challenge), as it asked contestants to gender-swap a female Zelda character. If we’re to think of Sheik as a gender-swapped Princess Zelda, every entry technically accepted the challenge with the Sheikah’s inclusion. However, artist Sweswe took the extra step by gender-bending Hyrule Warriors‘ Cia, beautifully chiseled pectorals and all. The artist offered this description:

“‘Halt, evil Cio, I will not allow you to torment an innocent girl. I will punish you!’

A screenshot taken from a cutscene right before an epic boss battle to defend female Link from being hit on by Cio. Sheik leaps into battle with her trusty sidekick Impe.”

This Week’s Contest: End a World With Majora’s Mask’s Moon

There are many coincidences contributing to theme of this week’s contest: today is Friday the 13th, there will be a full moon tonight, a major Hollywood blockbuster with “Apocalypse” in the title released today, and Nintendo recently released a trailer for a Pokémon game with “Moon” in the title. We cannot fight the fact that some cosmic source wants a world to end today.

The contest this week is to destroy a fictional setting of your choosing with the Moon from Majora’s Mask. Your chosen world can be from the Zelda series or from some other major fictional universe; and you can explicitly show this world destroyed by the Moon outright, or secure that world for destruction with a looming Moon placed in the sky. Feel free to make use of the images in the gallery to start, and use anything else you may find on the internet as well.

Deadline: Submit entries no later than Thursday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on May 19. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

Challenge Mode

For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a few Challenge Rules for you to follow:

1. Your entry must include one of three new starter Pokémon from Pokémon: Sun & Moon.

2. Your entry must include two other fictional moons.

If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.

Good luck!
