The release of a new Zelda game is a time of celebration for fans of the franchise; many launch events bring diverse groups of people together across the world. At Zelda Dungeon, our team tracks the evolution of a game from its announcement all the way to its launch and beyond. While the prerelease press cycle for Tears of the Kingdom lasted around four years (the initial sequel trailer was shown at E3 2019), the prerelease press cycle for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has been incredibly short. A few months after the June 18th announcement trailer, the new game is now available for purchase.

With this mind, for players purchasing Echoes of Wisdom, when and where will you be purchasing the game?

It is always interesting to hear about players’ preferences when purchasing a new Zelda game. Fans have the option to purchase the game digitally or physically. I always buy Zelda games physically; the cases are objects I enjoy displaying as part of my video game collection. The downside of buying a game physically is that unless you are attending a midnight event, you will have to wait until stores open in the morning or wait for it to be delivered. In contrast, players who purchase the game digitally can get the game right after the stroke of midnight. Another purchasing factor for some fans is the preorder bonuses that are available from certain retailers in different countries and regions. Even if some of these pre-orders bonuses are relatively small, some fans love to have a souvenir to commemorate the purchase of a new Zelda game. The wild card for this launch is the release of the Hyrule Edition Switch Lite, which is available separately from Echoes of Wisdom.

What do you think? If you are purchasing Echoes of Wisdom, when and where will you be purchasing the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below?
