Zelda’s Hyrule is a vast, ever-changing land. Regions come and go across the ages, as do the people who populate them. There’s often a castle, occasionally with a town near it. There are also other settlements that dot the map in any given incarnation of the realm. Despite the few persistent aspects of each Hyrule (namely forests, rivers, caves, and mountains), change is the only real constant!

Given the vast differences between each Hyrule and the characters who call them home, today’s debate might have a wide array of answers. How would you live if you found yourself in Hyrule? Would you do the heroic thing and go with Link (or, in light of the upcoming Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda) on a quest? Or would you choose to do something more simple, like selling masks to children.

But that question alone is only the starting point! What Hyrule would you most want to inhabit? Maybe you’re drawn to the bustling towns of Zelda II or you like the trains of Spirit Tracks’ New Hyrule. It could be that you enjoy how cozy the Minish Cap Hyrule is.

For my part, I’d seek out a quiet life. I’d leave all the derring-do to the region’s resident hero. I’m a librarian by trade and think being a librarian in Hyrule would be the thing for me. I’d need to figure out the realm’s classification system for books (I doubt it uses the Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress system). Despite that, librarianship would be a great way to learn about Hyrule and the people who call it home.

As far as a specific game, The Minish Cap would be the Hyrule for librarianship! I’d grab a job in the Royal Hyrule Library and rent a room at the Happy Hearth Inn while saving up enough for a vacant house in Hyrule Town. I’m well aware that doing so would mean two of the three Oracles in The Minish Cap wouldn’t get a home. I’ve made my peace with that.

What about you? How would you live in Hyrule? Where would you live and what would you do? Be sure to let us know down in the comments!
