The trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom shows Zelda with three Hearts on the HUD. I’m sure Zelda will have the capability to increase these, but how do you think that will happen? In more recent games, Shrines have been the answer to this question but will that be the case in the upcoming title?

Having watched the trailer, I can’t see anything obviously resembling Shrines, although, this is an extremely limited snapshot. However, Shrines may not be immediately identifiable as such, or they might even be hidden in caves. Alternatively, Echoes of Wisdom could be a throwback to the more traditional Zelda games, involving the collection of Heart Pieces to form Hearts?

On closer inspection, the final screenshot of the trailer (displayed above), depicts a column to the right with a complete Heart on top of it! Nevertheless, that could also just be an energy refill.

Shrines of different types have been featured in Legend of Zelda games before Breath of the Wild. For example, we seen them in The Minish Cap, Link’s Awakening and Majora’s Mask. While the newer open-world 3D games use Shrines in a much more prolific way, they certainly aren’t a new addition to the franchise.

What are your expectations for Echoes of Wisdom? Will there be puzzle-solving Shrines? Or do you think it will be a case of searching for Heart Pieces? Let us know in the comments below!
