Each Zelda game has its own distinct musical identity that develops based on the sounds each console or handheld can output, and the philosophy of each composer or composers who work on each game. So far, the music for Echoes of Wisdom (heard through the various trailers) sounds whimsical and adventurous. One of the biggest challenges with each new Zelda game is finding the right balance between returning musical themes and brand new musical themes. It is common for some previously-established musical themes to reappear in a new game with new arrangements. That being said, if a new Zelda game uses too many established musical themes or motifs, then the game may open itself up to some criticism for being musically unoriginal.

With this in mind, are there any established musical themes or motifs that you want to hear return in Echoes of Wisdom?

Overall, while I hope that there are a variety of new themes for Echoes of Wisdom, I am sure there will be at least a few established themes returning. One of the themes I hope to hear return in Echoes of Wisdom is a version of the Kakariko Village theme that was made famous in A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time. In the “Traversing Hyrule” trailer, the voice over mentions that Kakariko Village is located at the foot of Death Mountain; I hope the composers for Echoes of Wisdom base their music for Kakariko Village on the original version of the song (in comparison to the different themes used in Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild). With the return of the Gerudo Desert and Gerudo people, I would love to hear a new rendition of “Gerudo Valley” somewhere in Echoes of Wisdom. “Gerudo Valley” is one of my favorite musical themes in the Zelda series, and it would be great to hear a modern version of the song created with the latest technology and a full orchestra.

What do you think? Are there any established musical themes or motifs that you want to hear return in Echoes of Wisdom? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below?
