We return to the wonderful world of Crossing Crafts as creator Diana continues building all kinds of things from the world of video games. Previously, we got a chance to see what the Kochi Dye Shop would look like in miniature form, and now we head on over to a creature that roams Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. This isn’t just any creature, as Diana ventures into the Depths in order to craft a light-up figure of the Obsidian Frox.

Diana continues her trend of building different monsters from the Zelda series, saying, “I have an obsession with Zelda monsters so I have to sculpt all of them.” This trend continues wonderfully as like with her previous Zelda project, she puts great detail into this Frox. From the larger details like the hexagonal shapes on the creature’s back, to the smaller details like a uvula, as well as tiny pink veins on the Frox’s eyeball, the dedication to the finer points is outstanding.

That’s not to say this project didn’t have its challenges. Diana’s biggest hurdle faced was soldering together the cables for the LED lights that go to the Frox’s eye and obsidian rocks on its back. According to the creator, a combination of the wire clamps, along with a “useless, pathetic” ball of soldering metal falling down off said wire is what made this part anger-inducing. Regardless of the frustrations though, the results were well worth it.

As previously stated, this isn’t the first time Diana has dealt with her Zelda critter obsession, as she also built sculptures for the Boss Bokoblin and Battle Talus from Tears of the Kingdom. Her dabbling with the franchise doesn’t stop there either, as previous builds include a miniature version of Tarrey Town, the Fang & Bone store from Breath of the Wild, and the Lumpy Pumpkin from Skyward Sword. Fellow Zelda Dungeon writer Kora Burton even got a chance to interview Diana early last year about her creative process, which you can check out right here.
