Yoshi Doll - OK, this one's just plain easy. It's in the trendy game in the southeast area of Mabe village. It's the easiest thing to pick up in the crane game simply because it's not moving. It's right smack in the middle of the conveyor belt square. Move the crane over to the right until it's above the Yoshi, and bring it down so that the little pink line is right under Yoshi's foot. It's yours.
Ribbon - You don't have to leave the village to get this one. Find the house with the man who says he's going to get lost later and the woman with the baby. Go in and talk to the woman, who will ask for the Yoshi doll for her baby. Say yes, and she'll give you the unfair trade of a ribbon for your doll.
Dog Food - Once again, this trade's in Mabe village. It's probably the easiest house to regognise in the whole game 'cause there's a chain chomp right outside. The first time I played Link's Awakening that thing scared the hell out of me because I thought it attacked, but the ball with huge teeth is harmless. Go in the little house near the chain chomp and inside you'll meet the little chain chomp. Talk to her (She's into fashion) and you can trade your ribbon for the dog food.
Bananas - This one's a little tougher than the others. Go to Toronbo Shores (where you got your sword), but instead of heading south, go east. You'll see a crocodile who will go insane when he sees your dog food. Give it to him and he'll eat it whole and give you bananas.
Twig - A Link To The Past's helpful Dark World monkey returns! Find Kiki the Monkey near the castle by some water. Give him the bananas. He'll call in as many monkeys as your screen can handle without slowdown, and they'll build a bridge. Walk on the bridge and you'll find a loose stick. You can't use it as a weapon like in the Nintendo 64 Zelda games, but it's crucial in the trading process.
Honeycomb - ME WANT HONEYCOMB! Go to Ukuku after you beat the third dungeon and you'll find the Mario guy that gave you your shield standing by a tree. He'll ask to borrow your stick. Give it to him and the moron will whack at a bee hive on the tree. The bees will get pissed off and chase him off the screen, and whatever's left of their hive falls to the ground.
Pineapple - Go to the animal village and talk to the bear that needs an extra ingredient for his food. He'll give you a pineapple for your honeycomb
Herbs - Remember that guy in Mabe village who told you he was going to get lost and that you should save him? He did his part of the bargain; it's time to do yours. You'll find him on a cliff above the Angler's tunnel dungeon. He's so hungry he can't move. give him your pineapple and he'll give you some herbs. (why didn't he just eat those?)
Mail - Back to animal village. Find the goat who's pen pal is Mr. Write (the guy from sim city) and talk to her. Normally she'd say it's rude to talk to a goat if you don't have herbs, but since you do, she'll ask you to take a letter to Mr. Write for her. She has a picture of "herself" enclosed (Princess Toadstool from Mario is a goat??)
Broom - Go back to Mr. Write and deliver the letter (and picture :P). He'll give you a broom so good you just can't say no (literally! say no and he'll insist!)
Fishing Hook - Animal village* AGAIN!! this time, go to the northeast section of animal village. You should find an old lady there (the one from Mabe village in front of Old Man Ulrira's house). Talk to her. (YAHOO! A NEW BROOM?! FOR ME?!) she'll give you a fishing hook for your troubles. *note:she might be still in Mabe village.
Necklace - Find the fisherman under one of the bridges in the land of Koholint. Give him the new hook and he'll tell you that you can have whatever his next catch is. His next catch turns out to be a pearl necklace, and it's all yours.
Scale - Almost done!! Find the mermaid in the water by the Catfish's Maw level. Give her the necklace and she'll gratefully rip a scale off of her tail and give it to you.
Magnifying Glass/Lens of Truth - Ok, this is it. Go to where you gave the Fisher man the hook, and go right below the bridge (not under it, south of it). Use the best item in the game (refer to my boss guide to see what it is) to propel yourself over the water. Go to the statue and put in the scale and watch as it opens. Go down the stairs, up one room, and open the treasure chest. The lens of truth will help you see enemies you couldn't before, read the book in the library, and get you the boomerang by the beach so you can score a one hit kill on the final boss! Hell yeah!
