Sword 1 (Fighter's Sword) |
The first and weakest of the swords that Link wil recieve. It acts as a regular sword and has no special powers that future swords will have.
Link receives the Fighter's Sword from his wounded uncle when he is trying to enter the castle grounds. |

Sword 2 (Master Sword) |
The Legendary blade that has the power to shoot out a beam attack when Link has full power. It is technically the only sword that is officially named within the game.
After Link gathers all three Pendants, he can lift the Master Sword from its Pedastal deep in the Lost Woods. |

Sword 3 (Tempered Sword) |
The Tempered sword shines a red color to it. Unlike the previous two swords, this one is not vital to Links quest, but it does do twice the damage as the Master Sword.
Once Link has the Titan's Mitt, he can head just south of the Village of Outcasts to find a frog. After talking to him he will follow Link, and Link should take him back to the Light World and re-unite him with his Blacksmith partner at the Eastern part of Kakariko Village. The Blacksmith's will temper the Master Sword for Link for a small price. |

Sword 4 (Golden Sword) |
The fourth and most powerful Sword in the game, the Golden Sword. It shines a powerful gold color and deals out four times the damage as the Master Sword. The sword is so strong that it could be considered kind of cheap to use it because it is so powerful.
After Link obtains the 6th crystal at Misery Mire, the Bomb shop in the Dark World will now have for sale a Super Bomb. The shop is in the same place as where Links house is in the Light World. After buying a bomb, Link can blow a hole in the Pyramid of Power. This will reveal a mysterious pond with a Fat old Fairy. This is the same pond where Link can obtain the Silver Arrows. Just toss in your tempered sword and be honest about it and she will reward you with the Golden Sword. |

Shield 1 (Fighter's Shield) |
The first and weakest of the shields that Link will obtain on his quest. It blocks weak sword attacks as well as arrows but fails against any stronger attacks.
Link receives the Fighter's shield alongside the Fighter's sword from Links wounded uncle as he is trying to enter the castle grounds. |

Shield 2 (Red Shield) |
The Red Shield, or also commonly referred to as the Fire Shield, is the level 2 shield. As you'd probably guess, it has the ability to block Fire based attacks. It also has a larger blocking range than the Fighter's Shield.
The shield can be purchased later in the game in the Dark World at a pretty expensive rate. However, it can also be obtained for free by throwing in your Fighter's Shield into the Waterfall of Wishing near Zora's Waterfall. Use the flippers to swim into the waterfall at the nort-west corner of the area just before Zora's Waterfall to find the Waterfall of Wishing. |

Shield 3 (Mirror Shield) |
| The last and most powerful Shield in the game which is displayed in a shiny gold color. The Mirror shield has the power to reflect strong lasers and basically any projectile found in the game. It is also quite large which will expand the range of the shield in comparison to the Red Shield.
The Mirror Shield is found in the big treasure chest inside of Turtle Rock. |

Tunic (Green) |
The Green Tunic is Links basic armor. It is the clothing that he is wearing from the start of the game. When wearing this tunic, Link will take normal damage from all enemies.
Link starts the game with this Tunic. |

Tunic (Blue) |
The blue tunic is the second level tunic found in the game. Other than making Link will really cool, wearing the Blue Tunic will also reduce the damage Link takes by 25% in comparison to the Green Tunic.
The Blue Tunic is found in the big treasure chest inside of the Ice Palace. |

Tunic (Red) |
The red tunic is the best armor that Link can get in the game. When wearing the Red tunic, the damage Link takes will be reduced to 50% in comparison to the Green Tunic.

Pegasus Boots |
These boots are made for running. Once Link gets them, he will be able to run at fast speeds. This is usefull for attacking enemies, breaking down certain walls, or knocking items off of high shelves.
The Pegasus Boots are given to Link by Sahasrahla after link has beaten the Eastern Palace and gained the Pendant of Courage. Sahasrahla is located in a cave just west of the Eastern Palace. |

Power Glove |
Not related to the infamous Power Glove for the NES, the Power Glove will allow link to lift some light rocks. Some rocks will still not be able to be lifted.
The Power Glove is found in the big treasure chest inside of the Desert Palace. |

Titan's Mitt |
The Titan's Mitt is the next upgrade after the Power Glove. The Titan's Mitt will allow Link to pick up some of the heaviest rocks in Hyrule. The heavy ones that are outlined in black which Link couldn't pick up with the Power Glove can now be picked up.
The Titan's Mitt is found in the big treasure chest inside of Gargoyles Domain, also known as Blind's Hideout. |

Zora's Flippers |
These babies will give Link the ability to swim in deep water. They are a necessity in the game as Link must swim in certain portions of the game.
The flippers can be purchased from King Zora who lies deep within Zora's Waterfall in the north-east corner of Hyrule. Make sure you have some money as they are quite pricey at 500 rupees. |

Moon Pearl |
This pearl allows people of the Light World to keep their natural form when entering the Dark World. Without the pearl, the people are transformed into what is in their hearts. Link will transform into a defenceless bunny in the Dark World if he is without the Moon Pearl.
The Moon Pearl is found in the big treasure chest inside of the Tower of Hera. |

Bombs |
Bombs have a variety of different uses. An obvious use is using it as a weapon to defeat enemies. Bombs can also be used to blow up various holes in walls. When placed, the bomb will take just more than two seconds to explode. It will hurt anything that is within the immediate radius, including Link. If Link moves quickly, he can plant a bomb, pick it up and toss it. Two bombs can be placed at once.
Bombs are found all throughout Hyrule. Certain enemies, Hinox's in particular will drop these very often. They can also be purchased at various shops throughout the land. |

Super Bomb |
Only has one real use, which is to blow a hole into the Pyramid of Power to reveal a mysterious pond. This item is quite expensive and is only sold one at a time. Link cannot run while in possesion of the bomb or a timer will start which will blow up the bomb.
Found at the bomb shop in the Dark World. The bomb shop is where Link's house is in the Light World. |

Book of Mudora |
The book acts as a translator of the ancient script of Hyrule into a readable language. It is needed to enter the Desert Palace and get two of the three Medallions.
Found in the southern portion of Kakariko Village in the library. In order to reach it, you must run into the bookshelf using the Pegasus Boots, which will bring the book crashing down. |

Boomerang |
One of the classic items in the Legend of Zelda series, the boomerang acts just as a real life boomerang is suppose to. Link tosses it and it will swing around back to Link. It can pick up any loose items including bombs, rupees, arrows, etc... It can also be used to stun enemies and hit switches.
Found inside of a treasure chest within Hyrule Castle as Link tries to save Zelda in the beginning portion of the game. |

Magic Boomerang |
The magic boomerang acts just as the regular boomerang except for one distinctive difference. The magic boomerang can travel the full length of the screen. This works great in collecting distant items or stunning distant enemies.
Use the flippers to swim into the waterfall at the nort-west corner of the area just before Zora's Waterfall to find the Waterfall of Wishing. Toss in the regular boomerang to receive the magic boomerang.

Bow & Arrow |
The Bow & Arrow is a classic weapon in the Legend of Zelda series and is one of Link's primary weapons in the early going. Certain enemies, including Eyegore's can only be defeated by using the Arrows. Very usefull against some the Armos Knights as well.
The Bow is found in the big treasure chest inside of the Eastern Palace. Arros can be found after defeating enemies or purchased from various shops throughout Hyrule. |

Silver Arrows |
Just as in the original Legend of Zelda title, the Silver Arrows are used to give Ganon his final blows. They are also very strong against nearly any enemy in the game.

Bug Catching Net |
It's primary use is to catch items, in particular, bees and fairies. They will then be stored in a bottle for later use. It can also be used to deflect Agahnim's magic balls back at him.
Given to Link by the Bug Catching kid that is sick in bed in Kakariko Village. Just talk to him and he will give it you since it is of no use to him at the moment. |

Cane of Byrna |
Probably one of the most useless weapons in the game. It creates a magic beam of protection around Link. This will protect Link from enemies and will also hurt many enemies. Not bad actually, but it consumes magic power very quickly, making it quite useless.
Found in a cave on Death Mountain the Dark World. Use the warp tile on the left side of Death Mountain and head straight down. Jump off the cliff to the ledge with the cave here. Use the hammer to smash the moles here. A good idea is to use the Magic Cape here so you do not get hurt by the spikes. A green potion or two is also usefull just in case. |

Cane of Somaria |
Using the Cane once will create a red block. The block can be pushed or throw at enemies. Using the Cane once the block is already set will break the block and shoot out magic rays in four directions. The block can also be used to press down on switches. The Cane of Somaria is also needed in Turtle Rock to create the moving platforms that you must travel on.

Fire Rod |
Shoots out a ball of fire. It can be used to light distant torches or defeat enemies. The Fire Rod is a necessity to enter the final area of Skull Woods. It is also used to defeat certain ice enemies in Ice Palace. Several puzzles throughout the game will require Link to shoot fire to light a torch.

Hookshot |
One of the most used items in the game. Mostly because it has several uses. For one, it can be used to defeat a variety of enemies. It also can be used to hit switches from a distance. Using the hookshot on certain objects like treasure chests, certain rocks, or a some trees will allow Link to be pulled over to that object. Perfect for getting across bridges and over holes.

Ice Rod |
Shoots out some crystal ice. Will freeze many enemies to solid ice. Certain weak enemies will be killed with one shot. It is needed to defeat Trinexx, the boss of Turtle Rock. The Ice Rod will freeze the Fire head of Trinexx.
Found in a cave in the south-east portion of the Light World. Just walk around Lake Hylia and at the end of the path is a series of caves. Bomb the one on the left side to reveal the cave. The rod is within the treasure chest. |

Lantern |
Most likely the first time you will get in the game. The lantern will light various torches found in dungeons throughout the game. Magic power is used up every time the lantern is used.
Found in the treasure chest that is in Link's house. However, if you choose not to get it here it will appear in various chests in Hyrule Castle. |

Magic Cape |
When wearing the magic cape, Link appears invisible. There aren't many uses for this item other than reaching the Cane of Byrna without hurting Link as well as reaching a Heart Container.
The Magic Cape is found in the Light World by using the Pegasus Boots to run into the Grave at the top-right portion of the graveyard. Head into the cave and open the treasure chest for the Magic Cape. |

Magic Hammer |
Has quite a variety of uses from pounding on various stakes to reveal secrets. Pounding the ground will also flip over certain enemies to make them vulnerable. Can also be used to break up certain enemies armor. Using the magic hammer on a frozen enemy is a good way to assure you get some magic power.

Magical Mirror |
The magical mirror can be used anywhere in the outdoors of the Dark World. It will take you to the same place, but in the Light World. It will leave a portal at the same spot which can be taken back to get to the Dark World. Using the magical mirror within a dungeon will take you to the entrance of the dungeon.
Given to Link by the Old Man after helping him through the Dark caves after the first time entering Death Mountain. |

Shovel |
Can be used to dig up various treasures throughout Hyrule, but its main purpose is for digging up the Flute.
Found in the Dark World when talking to the man that is where the Flute Boy was in the Light World. Just talk with him and he will recall stories of when he use to play his flute. He will then give you his shovel. |

Flute |
The flute allows for quick access throughout Hyrule via the Flute Boy's bird. Once you have the flute and played it to the man in the Dark World where the Flute Boy resides in the Light World, head to Kakariko Village. Play it in front of the weather vane and the bird will breakout. Now Link can freely travel using the flute.
Found while digging in the Haunted Grove with the Shovel. It is in a patch of grass just north and west of where the Flute Boy is playing. |

Mushrooms |
These mysterious mushrooms can be given to the witch at the Potion Shop to create a magic powder.
Found when wandering around the Lost Woods. |

Magical Powder |
Sprinkling this powder on certain enemies will change their appearance. It's best purpose is when sprinkled on the anti-fairies as they will turn into regular fairies.
After giving the Mushroom to the witch at the potion shop. Return in a bit and the clerk at the shop will give the Magic Powder to Link. |

Bottle |
There are four bottles found within the game. Bottles can hold a variety of items including potions, bees, and fairies. They are quite helpfull throughout Link's quest.

Potion (Green) |
Green potion can be used to restore Link's magic meter completely. It is the cheapest of the three potions.
Can be purchased at the potion shop in the Light World. If Link throws an empty bottle in the Mysterious Pond within the Pyramid of Power and is honest about it, he will be rewarded with a bottle of green potion. |

Potion (Red) |
Red potion can be used to restore Link's life meter completely. It is more expensive than the green potion but not as expensive as the blue potion. Red potion is more effective than regular fairies since it completely restores all of Link's hearts.
Can be purchased in the potion shop in the Light World. Unlike the green and blue potions though, Red potions are also available at a variety of other potion shops throughout Hyrule. |

Potion (Blue) |
The strongest and most expensive of the three potions. Blue potions fully restores Link's Life and Magic meters.
Blue potion can only be purchased at the potion shop in the Light World. |

Fairy |
If Link uses or finds a fairy, he will full up seven heart containers. Link can capture fairies using the big catching net and store them in a bottle. There are also Great Fairy Fountains located throughout the land that will completely fill up all of Link's heart containers.
Found after defeating certain enemies. Most easily found in various fairy fountains and great fairy fountains in both worlds. |

Bombos Medallion |
One of the strongest weapons in the game. The bombos medallion powers up the Master Sword with the abilty to create a circle of flames. The flames will burn and defeat nearly every enemy in the game.
Use the Book of Mudora on the stone tablet in the Desert. The stone tablet is on a high cliff and the only way to reach it is by using the mirror when in the Dark World. |

Ether Medallion |
The ether medallion powers up the Master Sword with the ability to freeze. When used, all enemies on screen will freeze to solid ice. The ether medallion is needed to reveal the entrance to the dungeon in Misery Mire.
Use the Book of Mudora on the stone tablet on Death Mountain. The stone tablet is located just west across the bridge from the Tower of Hera. |

Quake Medallion |
This medallion powers the master sword with the ability to make an Earthquake like rumble. Link will jump and plant his sword into the ground, rumbling everything on the screen killing or altering most enemies. Quake is needed to open up the entrance to Turtle Rock.
The Quake Medallion is received from a water monster in the Dark World. Found in the Dark World in the location corresponding to where the Waterfall of Wishing is in the Light World. Toss a rock into the circle of rocks in the water and the big fish like creature will give you the Quake Medallion if you leave him alone. |

Compass |
The compass will show the location of the Dungeon Boss on the map.
Locations vary depending on the dungeon. There is no compass in Hyrule Castle. |

Dungeon Map |
The Dungeon Map acts as a floorplan for the entire dungeon. It will show you each floor and each room, highlighting the rooms that Link has already been in.

Key |
Keys are found all over the dungeons of both the Light and Dark worlds. Usually found by defeating certain enemies or opening up chests. Small keys can only be used once and open up locked doors.

Big Key |
Each dungeon has it's own Big Key. This key can be used more than once and has two main uses. One is opening up the dungeon's big treasure chest. The other use is opening up locked doors with big locks on them. Usually the doors that are just before the dungeon bosses.

Small Chest |
The basic treasure chests usually contains anything including rupees, bombs, arrows, keys, pieces of heart, and various other items.
Found in various caves and dungeons. |

Large Chest |
Large Chests usually contain the items needed to progress further in the particular dungeon.
There is only one in each dungeon except for in Hyrule Castle where there is no Large Chests. |

Recovery Heart |
Once recovery heart will refill one heart of Link's life.
Can be found just about anywhere. Defeating enemies, under rocks, cutting bushes, and even purchased in certain shops for a whole 10rupees. |

Heart Piece |
There are a total of 24 heart pieces in the entire game. If Link collects four pieces of heart it will make up one full heart container.
These are found all throughout the Dark and Light World. Found in hidden caves, secret areas, and even rewards in certain games. |

Heart Container |
Link begins the game will a full 3 heart containers. Getting one Heart Container will increase Link's life by one heart. By the games end, with all the pieces of heart collected, Link can have a maximum of 20 heart containers.
One is left for Link after defeating each boss except for Agahnim. One is also found in the Sanctuary after going through Hyrule Castle the first time around. |

Pendent of Courage |
Originally the Kokiri Emerald. It has now been crafted into the Pendent of Courage and is one of the three Pendents needed along with the Book of Mudora to lift the Master Sword from its Pedastal.

Originally the Goron Ruby. It has now been crafted into the Pendent of Power and is one of the three Pendents needed along with the Book of Mudora to lift the Master Sword from its Pedastal.

Originally the Zora Saphire. It has now been crafted into the Pendent of Wisdom and is one of the three Pendents needed along with the Book of Mudora to lift the Master Sword from its Pedastal.

Crystals |
Agahnim imprisoned the seven maidens inside of these crystals and sent them off to the Dark World. Princess Zelda is the 7th of the maidens.
